Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

10 mile loop with George and Chad again today. Good times and a great shake out for my legs. I never look to see how fast we're going and it always surprises me when I'm done. George ran 13 (3 around the lake before joining us) and finished in 1:56 - a new PR for him. I think he'll surprise himself at SLC half. I had to let the boys go the last 1.5 miles, the hot fudge brownie sundae I ate at 9PM for FHE last night was just too much and my gut was getting weak. Still managed sub AP for the last 2 despite wanting to puke.

AP: 8:21 splits: 8:05, 8:12, 8:26, 8:30, 8:55 (the hardest hill, I was determined to go sub 9 - nice!), 8:37, 8:06, 8:03, 8:18, 8:13

Spin class - again more puke gut, should've found more time to eat something before spin! blech. Couldn't push as hard as I'm used to, but still a great workout!

Baby swim class - Adam almost fell asleep. Not much of a workout today, didn't want to bounce him all over while he was sleeping on my chest, and I didn't want to puke either  :) Then he did a bit of swimming and had fun playing on the slides.

Still feeling blechy, but I think if I eat something it might just help.

*PM*

blechy feeling lasted all day and gave me a headache because I didn't want to eat much. Then I had 2 children's music classes to attend. Did NOT help! Had a big RS thing to do in the evening that took all my energy, but found a friend who wanted to run just one mile afterward. So, I ran with her. First time she'd run a full mile w/out stopping - 9:52, not too shabby!! I convinced her to do another but 100 yds in she could feel her knee starting to hurt (old injury) so we stopped, but I was impressed she was ready to try one more!

WOW!!! AWESOME speedy miles and SUPER nice mileage...plus all these classes too! And no mention of quad soreness. I think you got this right!!! EXCELLENT JOB, Rachel!

Nice job with the running. I'm glad you didn't puke in front of the guys.

It is funny how things you eat the night before effect your running the next day. I thought I was the only one who eats too much junk in the evening and then tries to go out and run the next day. Good to know I am not alone :) Hope you are feeling better by now. Amazing you did as much as you did feeling crummy.

If you're not puking in the pool, you're not trying hard enough ;-)

Great post-hot fudge sundae workouts!!

allie, I think that is all I got done the rest of the day! :)

Burt, well, Toby does know best.

Teena, thanks, sometimes you just have to get moving.

Smooth, I may not have whined about it here, but trust me - I did on the run!! :)

Nancy, that is why I slowed down and let them get in front of me!

Bye-wing, we must be related! :)

QP, I guess I'm just another failure.

Maybe if it weren't for your broken wing, crossed-eyes, and poor genes....

From Bec on Wed, Mar 28, 2012 at 14:36:31 from 68.206.133.141

Hahaha! What is QP talking about??

Great run today and spin class on crappy stomach. Hope you feel better. My stomach felt like crap ALL DAY yesterday too.

From RAD on Thu, Mar 29, 2012 at 12:22:31 from 98.202.23.178

QP, thankfully my eyes just look like piss holes in the snow this week, so no one will recognize me anyway.

Becca, we're just keepin' it in the family :) what is up with yucky gut?
