Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Ahhh school vacations :) My husband has to be out early this whole week to get to his training classes, so I'm stuck getting up SUPER early or using daycare. But, today since all the kids were home I had another option: Street TM. From the dead end behind my house to the end of the street and back is a one mile loop. So, I feel okay leaving my daughter in charge when I can check in every 5 min. They just have to turn on the outside lights if they need me. So, I got to sleep in and wait for the snow and ice to melt on the roads and I got to get outside. Who can not like that situation?

7 miles down and back...down and back...down and back...okay, so it got old, but it was better than the alternative. The wind on the last .25 mile of uphill before the turnaround got worse each mile, the good thing is I got to quickly turn and have it at my back. By the time I was done there were parts of the road where I'd laid down a good few sets of prints, but they had all melted. Crazy how fast it all disappears. Right now I'm hoping if I procrastinate shoveling the walks for another hour it will all melt too :) Haven't shoveled ALL year - why start now? :)

TT: 1:02:03 AP: 8:53 splits: 9:15, 9:01, 8:47, 8:46, 9:06, 9:00, 8:07 - had to nail a fast finishing mile! Felt good until I stopped, then I started coughing like nobody's business and the cold I've been denying I have hit me full force. Between breathing hard and coughing I swear I almost passed out because I couldn't get the oxygen in. I hope that when this chest cold goes away I can run faster and easier.

Nice creativity! Hope the cold goes away quickly. Amazing that you've not shoveled all year. That's crazy talk!

Russ, I just keep denying I have it - so I shall say...."What cold?" :) I must say the 'no shoveling' is a bit of a cheat for us. The weekend it did snow enough to shovel we were in St George so our wonderful neighbors did it for us. Plus, our house is South East facing and on a corner so we have NO shade at all on the driveway in the winter - it is heavenly :) So, if there is snow left by 2PM then I shovel, if not - meh, thank you sunshine.

You make me laugh so hard! I remember those days!! I just got over a chest cold and it seems to linger for a month! Sorry! I hope you get better fast!

That sounded so familiar. I used to run on the grass in back of our church that is right across from my house so my older kids could come and get me if they needed me. Nice job.

:) :) :) I just love seeing miles on your board! Good job today getting outside even if it was a little boring going back and forth. Good mom for sticking around the neighborhood.

I can just picture you running up and down the street. NICE pace too especially with that cold you've been denying! :) Check out that 8:07 at the end. You'll be running in the 7s before you know it!

Thanks for guiding me through Boot 101. You have no idea how much you helped me! :)

Amy, I think I've had it for a good couple weeks now. I wish it would go away!!!

Nancy, we always find a way though, right?

Becca, I could've left the neighborhood, but I would be afraid of dcfs :)

Lily, no - it just hangs on for dear life and I am trying everything I know how to get rid of it!!

Smooth, well, that is all I can do - is tell you how I dealt with it all :) I'm no good otherwise. I really pushed that 8:07 and I think it felt more like a sub 7 used to. shoot.
