Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I drug my pansy butt out of bed at 4:15 to get it all in before needing to be at the 5 mile water stop for Riverton 1/2 by 9:00 - honestly it wasn't too bad, because I wasn't sleeping well anyway.

Me and all the stuff you'd need to survive in 20 below weather headed down to Lehi. The JRP is a bit scarier at 5:15 in the morning, in the dark, all alone....

3.5 miles South then a turn around and head back, easy cheesy - okay maybe not as easy as I'd hoped, but not as hard as I had feared. I forgot about wind - dreaded wind! When I turned I ran into the head wind and uggghhh, but due to the curving trail it was just a cross-wind at times.

@ 7 even I had a bit more to go so I finished up the run and rounded it out at 7.25. Splits: 9:26, 9:21, 9:28, 9:21, 9:31, 9:37, 9:37, 9:09 (for the .25) AP: 9:28. I figure it's nothing to brag about, but for my first cold, windy, outside 'long' run - I'll take it!!

Drove to the Legacy Center for spin - got there the same time as Becca. Had about 20 min to kill before class, so I hit the track and finished up the last .75 mile to round out 8. Then did spin - it sure is a LOT harder after a 'long' run! I probably should've eaten something between as well.

It was GREAT to volunteer at the Riverton 1/2! SO many fun running friends to cheer on and there were quite a few fast finishers for such a hilly course! I'm so excited to run SLC 1/2 now, I remember how great that 'racing high' is! CONGRATS to everyone who ran, it was a great day!!

I don't think Pansie is a word I would ever associate with you. Incredible, amazing, tough... fit a bit better. I can't believe you can run 8 miles with such a great AP six months PG.

It was great seeing you at the Riverton half. Thanks for helping make the race so much fun.

Shelly, you did AWESOME at the race! I'm glad you decided to do it. I LOVED seeing everyone and watching you guys finish - it was amazing!!

I'm only a pansy, because I've grown accustom to NOT being outside and it takes a LOT for me to go out in the 'cold' now!

Wow, you sure had a busy morning. Great job on getting up early, the long run, and everything. You really are not a pansy. You are hard core through and through.

nICE RUN!!! You are a busy little girl :)

Thanks for volunteering. I think I missed you with my blaring music and spacey look. Which mile were you at? You guys/gals put on a great race!!

You are one tough cookie (or one tough pansy)!

Pansie Butt? Anyone that faces the elements of nature at 5:00 in the morning is not a pansie. I still don't know how you really did this adventure on your own. You are pretty much amazing.

Are you still planning to do the SLC half?

From Smooth on Sun, Mar 28, 2010 at 15:41:50 from 174.23.251.49

Rachel ~ WOW! I can't believe you got up SO EARLY to run on the windy Lehi JRP ALONE!!! You should have called me, I'd come run w/ you. I am WAY too wimpy to get up that early to run in the dark! You're a cute little purple pansy sharing your joy and light! :) How nice to do spin class w/ Bec and then go volunteer at the Riverton 1/2. GOOD LUCK at SLC 1/2! You totally should put the words: Baby on Board, or something like that on your race shirt. SO VERY IMPRESSIVE! Hey, I'm finally able to keep your pace in your prego state and I'm not even running with you. Man, once that baby is born, I'll never be able to catch you!

Nice miles girly.

What a busy morning! Great job on your 8 miles so early in the morning. You are now pansy for running outside alone at 5:15 in the morning.
