Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

LOST: my motivation to get up early and run. If anyone finds it please return it ASAP - I'm trying to train for a marathon (as a training run) in 3 weeks and I can't seem to find it anywhere!

I didn't sleep well - turning while asleep was hard because I was still so sore. Feels better now that I'm up and around, I probably would've made it. Guilting myself into an evening run tonight I think! Stay tuned.....

PM: 8 miles, 2 at a normal 9 mm pace - I think, I didn't have my garmin. I ran up to my friend's house to pick her up for 6 miles so I got an extra 2 in at my pace. However, my Garmin said low batt when I started so I put it on the charger, ran up to her house and then we came back and picked it up, so I'd know how far to go after that - I've clocked up to her house many times. Then we did 6 together, she is training for her 1st 1/2 marathon and is doing GREAT! So, I ran some nice slow miles with her (AP: 14:08). It was nice to just tag along and help her out and not have to push myself, but it was nice for my body to remember that it CAN run and it will be okay to run again Monday. I have found that even waiting 2 hours is not enough after a meal-UUGGGHHH!! I nearly lost my dinner a couple times.

I lost my motivation to run long distances in preparation for a marathon in a little over a month, and so I scrapped the marathon.

I think you're better off with the rest today. Do you think you're pushing yourself too hard? That could have something to do with your lost motivation.

From RAD on Sat, Aug 01, 2009 at 13:49:55 from 76.27.12.70

I think more than pushing myself to hard is my lack of sleep. My sisters have both been in town and it seems that night after night I'm up till 11:30 or later then up at 5 or 6 to try and run. Then with the soreness from the hike on top of it...too many excuses more than anything!

From Kelli on Sat, Aug 01, 2009 at 18:15:07 from 71.219.100.174

You have had a seriously buys week and some killer runs!!! Good job, take the break, you have earned it!! Get some rest, you need it.

So, what marathon are you going to do? Park City? What is your plan (as you it is a training run)? Are you pacing someone?? Sorry, I am behind because I have not seen you in SO many days.

From Nancy on Sat, Aug 01, 2009 at 20:13:18 from 76.27.11.127

When you are that tired a rest will do you more good than a run. When is your next marathon?

From RAD on Sat, Aug 01, 2009 at 22:27:11 from 76.27.12.70

Kelli, Becca wants to do it as a training run..like 9mm or so. Just for fun - for those of us that think that's fun :)

Nancy, no specific plans for a marathon yet...just PC as a fun training run.

From Merri on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 00:09:10 from 160.7.234.108

I love my motivation all the time. It's a slippery little bugger :) You should do Top of Utah marathon with me...if I can somehow get in some long runs.

From Merri on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 00:09:31 from 160.7.234.108

Although PC marathon does look like fun.

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 00:15:03 from 71.32.238.231

YAY, I'm SO EXCITED you're doing PC!!! Lack of sleep makes me go bonkers. But you had FUN with your sisters...that's what really matters. A step-down week will do you tons of good!

From Bec on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 01:21:05 from 67.177.35.60

RAD,

You are tired, get rest! I know that you will be back out on Monday. I was thinking of you today as I hiked Timp. What if we RAN Timp? Hmmmmm. 8 miles up, 8 miles down. (Maybe next year).

From RAD on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 01:43:19 from 76.27.12.70

okay...I got out and got some in today. I'm glad I was over 30 miles this week, I probably should've run 80 for all the CRAP I've eaten!!! It's a lot harder to run dragging around an extra 10 pounds of food in your gut :)

From Bec on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 01:43:41 from 67.177.35.60

YAY for some miles today!!! Good girl. I bet your friend enjoyed your company. You are a great training partner/friend.

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 11:59:05 from 71.219.100.174

So, are you registering or just being a bandit? Nothing beats a nice training run with potties and fuel along the way!

From RAD on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 15:48:47 from 76.27.12.70

If I go I'll pay...I'm always a sucker for a free t-shirt, and of course a new medal!! :)

From allie on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 16:29:43 from 208.110.151.113

that is cool that you are doing PC! and don't worry, i lost my motivation as well. i actually think i sold it on purpose :) but when your body is ready to run again, the motivation will show up at your front door.

From Kelli on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 16:55:14 from 71.219.100.174

I think a lot of it is run on the trail that Scott and I ran 2 weeks ago and it was nice! Plus, the weather was about 15 degrees cooler!!!

HAVE FUN! I can think of no better place to do a training run than an actual marathon----the aide along the way is priceless (especially the porta potties)!

From Brent on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 18:12:05 from 168.178.30.75

RAD, a 9mm at PC would be a really good effort, elevation, ups and downs. The year I ran it, about half on trail and half on pavement. Have fun. They have changed the course a few times.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

If we put our 2Cents together, would be make less sense or more cents?

From Julie on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 21:56:45 from 174.23.49.25

I went through the same thing a couple weeks ago. It will get better. I'm glad you were able to get those 8 miles in. I'm sure that helped.

From RAD on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 01:47:29 from 76.27.12.70

Kelli, it's still not for sure...I'll see what this week brings then decide by next Monday, it does sound nice though!

Brent, I think it's all just non-'cents'! Thanks for the tips on PC, kind of scares me though....

Julie, thanks for understanding. I sure hope mine comes back like yours did!!!
