Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Ran with the Ragnar team this morning, it was  GREAT fun!!! Started at the park in Copperton ran past the dump to 11800, stopped at mile 6 (new HS being built) for a drink and to re-group, ran through DayBreak and down that hill before the District I was feeling like I could FLY!! Dropped a couple people off at Harmons, then ran through neighborhoods back to Jeff's house. Good run, good times and good people! I'm really excited about the team and the 2 days I get to spend locked in a van with them and all our stink :)

The only problem was mile 11.5 I felt my ITB start talking and by mile 12 the pain was bad enough I stopped to walk, then decided we were so close to the house I was going to stretch and get back on the run! The last .5 was better than from 11.5-12.0 so I'm thinking the stretching is REALLY going to help over the long haul. Garmin died before mile 1, so I have no splits or exciting paces to reveal :( However, I kept up with Aaron after mile 6 and his AP was 8:32, so since I finished a minute behind him at mile 6, I'm giving myself an 8:40 for the run. Next time I'll charge my Garmin whether I think I need to or not!!!

What a fun run! You are fortunate to have fun people to run with. I'm glad that the stretching helped the IT band. Keep up the stretching, eh.

Fun stuff, and glad you had fun yesterday for yet another birthday!

Have you found out what leg you are running yet?

From Nancy on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 21:16:02 from 76.27.11.127

Your run sounded fun but tiring. I'm glad your IT band didn't act up any sooner.

Carolyn, thanks! We do seem to have a plethera of fun runners around the valley....we'd love to have you join us :)

Kelli, I don't know yet - we're sorting all that out Thursday at a BBQ.

Nancy, It was fun and I wish it wouldn't have acted up at all!!

Sounds like a FUN run with FUN friends. You're so dang FAST. Sorry about the ITB. I guess you know what to do to stay on top of it.

From RAD on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 22:30:48 from 67.166.99.8

Smooth, I thought I knew...now I'm just frustrated! This was my longest run since Ogden and now I feel like I'll never get over 13 miles at a decent pace without it bothering me :(

From Smooth on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 22:40:19 from 207.200.116.71

I feel your frustration. Are you training for a fall marathon? It's best to give the ITB enough time to heal before building up the miles again. Ice, roll and stretch diligently.

From Shelly9 on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 23:58:31 from 76.27.55.22

Nice run! Sorry the ITB is still buggin :( Give it time and keep up the stretching.

From RAD on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 23:59:39 from 67.166.99.8

Yeah, I feel like I've been doing it all for the last 2 weeks and with a nice pace today I thought it would stay away...I guess I'll just keep strengthening, rolling, stretching and see where it gets me by fall!

From marion on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 16:17:05 from 71.219.53.30

Darn ITB :( What is it's problem? Doesn't it know that you have things to do???

good luck with The Wasatch Back :) Kelli and I (I think) were talking about doing an all girls team. I think the RED HOT PINK CHICKS may need a debut relay team ;)

From RAD on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 21:10:04 from 67.166.99.8

I'm all in for the RHPC relay team next year!!!

Hey thank you so so much for your advice! I am really trying to loose this extra weight so I can have another baby. Right now, I can't even imagine what that would do to me!

So, can I ask what kind of weight training specifically worked for you, and how often did you do it? Did you alternate days between running and weight training? I am willing to try anything, especially if it's worked for someone else! Also, I am feeling a little worried about the 5K. I mean, it's only 3.2 miles, I can finish it, but I would like to finish it in less than 45 minutes, which I'm afraid it would be right now. Anything to boost my speed, endurance, muscle fatigue and weight loss I am up to trying!

Thanks again!
