Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Scary morning out on the slippery ice. Snow wasn't the problem, it was the ice! For some reason the snow plows didn't seem to be putting down any salt - just plowing what little snow there was.

Sandra and I started off slowly and even considered bagging the run due to the treacherous  conditions. However, we stuck with it until we got to the main road and things actually were much nicer out there. I think anyone who knows me will know I don't mind running slow, but I'm getting just slightly frustrated that our pace seems to be getting worse and not better. I will overlook the pace today, because it was really bad, but I need to find a way to reverse the direction of our AP - 4.05 miles @ 10:24 AP

I then went out for 3 on my own and I felt really good, just let myself fly along at whatever I felt good at. I also found that the sidewalks were MUCH better for running this morning than the icy roads. For some reason the roads were slippery, but the sidewalks were 'crunchy' and didn't slip under my feet. Did the stake 5K loop; 3.1 miles @ AP 8:46 splits: 8:44, 8:51, 8:45, 8:31 for last .1 - honestly I'm impressed that I was so consistent on the downhill and uphill miles, that usually doesn't happen to me!

Now I'm off to the gym, uh well, the church. A lady in the 'hood has started teaching a boot camp class at the church on Tuesday mornings and since it is a tight gym day for me (pre-school and meetings leave BARELY enough time to get there, do a class and get home) I've decided to try it today. I'm a little worried, heard it's rough.... I hope I can run tomorrow.

Boot camp wasn't too bad. There were lots of lunges and squats so I'll feel that in my hammies and quads tomorrow, but overall it was a good workout for a 'free' class!

Nice job getting outside today. The worry of slipping is exactly why I opted to run inside today. Good luck at your class, I used to go to a power pump class at our stake center and it kicked my butt!!

You'll do great at the class. You could teach that class!!

Nice job on your hill work. Be careful out there on the ice.

Good for you to run with Sandra! No worries about those pace. when she's ready to push the pace, she will thank you for it!!!

CONGRATZ on the consistent up/down hill pace!

Have fun at boot camp! I can't believe all the stuff you do! Send some of your left over energy my way, will ya? :)

Carina, it was slippery, but it was nice to get out! Sometimes I wish I had a TM in the basement to use on days like this.

QP, I kind of thought the same thing, but this lady is a dance teacher and is used to leading a group of whiny ladies anyway :)

Paul, it was good, but unfortunately it was no lifetime class.

Smooth, thanks, it was a good run. I'm just always amazed when I look at the pace afterward.

I think that was a very good pace for the slippery weather. I would like to run that pace in good weather.

My hood was a giant sheet of ice this morning and I was thinking running would be crazy. Nice work not letting a little ice stop you.

I'm totally chicken when it comes to ice/snow. Way to be brave! Glad you liked the church class!

You ran outside, it beats me and cath pounding it out on the treadmill every day.....your paces are great when you can get out there and do your thing. The snow will end....someday.

From Merri on Wed, Mar 09, 2011 at 17:04:34 from 160.7.252.148

i love a good boot camp. :) glad you didn't fall on any of the ice.

From RAD on Wed, Mar 09, 2011 at 17:18:25 from 67.172.229.125

Brent, I'm sure there was at least one good sliding mile in there!

Nancy, I was honestly really surprised to see our pace @10:30 when we finished, it felt faster than that!

KP, you're not late, you're right on time! Glad to hear from you here!!

Scott, you must remember - I'm not crazy, I'm just bored :)

Toby, honestly I had a horrible night with baby and just wanted to sleep! If Sandra wouldn't have been there I would've slept until noon - or at least tried.

Luz, I love the snow - just up in the mountains where I can ski on it and not on my driveway or running paths :)

Merri, oh I'm certainly feeling the boot camp today! I will be back for another dose next week for sure.
