Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

The first mile is always the hardest.

I seriously felt like I was running the last 5K of a marathon as I set out this morning. Tired heavy legs. I didn't think I'd been doing all that much this week, and maybe I haven't, but my legs feel blech! Not nice and fresh and recovered. I kept thinking "It shouldn't be this hard to run this slow!" Didn't exude a lot of confidence about Saturday.

I ran into Sandra just after mile 1, she'd gotten in late from vacation last night and wanted to sleep in so she didn't text me to meet up. At 6:30 she couldn't sleep due to allergies and got up to run on her own. We should've coordinated better, because we both only did 3 miles.

AP:  9:07; splits: 8:49, 9:30, 9:07, 8:07 (had to get a fast finish, I was actually in mid/low 7's the last .35 of the run - gotta love the downhill)

Ever since my daughter started running the mile at school for presidential fitness (her fastest time was 8:30 - and always the first girl!) she has asked to run with me. Well, today was the morning. I came home and got her to run just one mile, my son also wanted to come so we all got out to the mailbox for an out and back mile.

My 6yr old son made it a 1/4 mile before stopping and my daughter only stopped to walk at the turn around for a couple house lengths. They've both got congestion and cough going on (just like Kelli - I had it 10ish days ago), but I certainly was proud of the effort they made! Lauren (10) finished in 10:22 and David was a few minutes behind us, but had a fast finish as I challenged him to race me the last .10 home, as dad and baby were on the porch cheering us in. I'm sure the neighbors loved us! All in all I ran 1.25 with them. I've never had anyone in my family even want to run with me, so this was a fun thing. Surprisingly, my legs felt the best the last 1.25 :)

Now I'm off to yoga and am going to sit on my patutie and be lazy until Saturday at about 6AM.

Now you can taper :) Running with the kids is the best!!! My daughters both want to do another 5K with me now. Fun.

Good luck Sat!

Running with the shirtless, short-shorties today at 3. I was going to see if you wanted to join....I forgot you have your big race on Sat. Good luck!

Nice run. I think it is great that your kids want to run already. You are a good example to them. Good Luck on Saturday.

It's cool they want to run with you. Even when mine do want to run, it's never with me.

Enjoy your patutie!

**NO ONE in your family ever wants to run with you? Just WHO is your family, blister?????***

Bye-wing, carb loading is the best. My father taught me how to do it well!

Scott, yeah, I am NOT a good taper-er. I've talked to my daughter about doing a 5K this fall...I think I might've convinced her.

Steam, aww shooooot! Next time...next time. I hope you had fun.

Nancy, I hope I don't make them resent running since I'm always talking about it and doing it :)

QP, awww crap...okay let's back this baby up *beep* *beep* *beep* - I've never had anyone that lives in my house that I get to see 360/365 days a year at a minimum want to run with me. That privilege is usually reserved for my wonderful, most amazing, fabulous and beautiful sisters that come into town and let me drag them all over my favorite running routes! Better? See...you're not chopped liver after all! Oh, and I am enjoying my patutie, gettin' bigger with every scoop of carb loading goodness :)

From David on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 17:26:08 from 174.52.182.34

Yay! I made the favorites list! Woop woop! I feel special now. Good luck tomorrow!

From Merri on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 18:50:31 from 160.7.252.148

Good luck tomorrow! The first miles is the hardest and the first cut is the deepest. :)

From Kelli on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 18:57:36 from 71.219.92.225

OH, I hope your kids do not get any sicker! This stuff linger forever! And the middle gets nasty bad---could not even get out of bed (Scott has it now!)

Best of luck to you at the race tomorrow! I will be thinking of you while I sit on my butt and watch the parade!

From bye-wing on Fri, Jun 10, 2011 at 20:06:59 from 115.87.5.25

Go RAD go. Our family dedicated a night of carb loading to you, to show our support for your run at UMV tomorrow.

Best of luck!

I'm picturing you running with all your little ones trailing behind. You're the mama duck.

I hope your race went well today. I'm waiting for results to be posted.
