Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Funny how all weekend all I wanted to do was run and never got to, but when my alarm went off at 4:45 this morning so I could do my run and a spin class this morning I had every excuse in the WORLD to sleep. I'd even gone to bed early! So, my compromise to myself was one more hour, then I could get the run in, I'd just have to bag the spin. Sounds good...especially snuggled up under the warm covers in my cozy bed while I'm half asleep! :)

Got to say hello to Kelli while she was on her way out. I should've gotten up, then I could've chatted while I ran. dumb me. Anyway, TM work was good today - I'm trying to slowly pull down the incline since I'm relased to 2% running tomorrow.

2 miles 4% @ 6.1-6.3mph

2 miles 3% @ 6.5-6.7mph

2 miles 2% @ 6.8-8.0mph

Oh that last .1 of a mile at 8.0 felt SO awesome. I love being able to regain some speed after all this hill climbing. I was just shy of 1000ft of gain this morning, nice to see that vert going down :) So, all these miles were continuous. I didn' stop for a walk break once. I felt great and had only minor foot pain. The same stuff I deal with all the time - tendon issues on my 4/5 metatarsals from the immobilization, nothing fracture related.

Came home and after getting kids off to school and securing the bathrooms and other sources of water (he has recently discovered the water dispenser on the fridge, so it now must also be locked), I did The Shred L3. It has been a long time since I've done the shred, good stuff baby!

My plan is 6/day and then 10 on Saturday - outside!!! This will more than double my YEARLY mileage in one week...awesome :)

Tomorrow I'm trying out the nursery again, wish me (or the outlaw biter) luck!

Last plea...My birthday is Wednesday. I have a good uphill (gentle) route planned that will be 6-7 miles and I'd love to have someone come with me! Smooth was going to accompany me, but since she is now taking ownership of my boot I need some company. I was planning about 9AM, but I'd do anytime - I just don't want to wake up before the sunrise! Don't make me run alone on my birthday...c'mon peeps, help a girl out?

I will run 6-7 with you at 6am (My wifes schedule has changed so I can now run when other "normal" people run).

From Carina on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 12:44:27 from 204.15.86.83

What a great way to start the week! You're coming back strong :)

From Chad on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 12:47:34 from 168.177.153.27

40 miles? Holy crap.

From Toby on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 13:18:04 from 199.101.229.254

I can't do Wednesday, but I would love to do Saturday. I need to do 15, but can add on at the beginning or end. Hope the stinker is an angel tomorrow :)

From RAD on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 13:27:30 from 98.202.23.178

Chad, I was hoping not to have to get up THAT early, but if that is all I can get, I may take you up on it. I will let you know.

Carina, I can't wait to get back to 'normal'!

Chad, that seriously just made me laugh. It shouldn't be too bad, especially if I cut down the x-training. Plus, it will be 90% uphill...darn stupid uphill.

Toby, I will totally take you up on your Saturday offer!!! Do you want to do Lehi JRP? Maybe I can bring my bike and join you afterward for the extra 5 miles. I'm just not sure after a full week if I should push out more than 10. I probably could, and I might....but I also might end up regretting it. We shall see :)

From Rachelle on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 13:39:13 from 199.190.170.24

Yay you are so making so much progress and I am so incredibly happy for you!!

Do you think my boss would understand if I called in sick to run with you Wednesday?

From RAD on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 13:54:56 from 98.202.23.178

Rachelle, oh I've got a book full of 'em that he'd never see coming! :) a birthday run is SO much more important than meanial things like work! :) My hubby always takes the day off or I'd be in the same situation and my 19 mo old doesn't take ANY excuses!!

From The Quiet Pirate on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 15:24:21 from 152.26.59.252

I wish I could run with you on your b-day! We'll have a very merry un-birthday run this summer!!

I think Fartlek's new name will be Poseidon. Good luck with him at the gym. Maybe the easter bunny will bring him a bridle :-)

From RAD on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 16:50:28 from 98.202.23.178

QP, I wish you could run with me too! I can't wait for the summer run. Poseidon...well, I spent about 1 hour following behind him today cleaning up all of his messes. In the 10 minutes it would take me to scrub the blue go-gurt stains out of the carpet in one room, he would go to the next grab a choclate granola bar piece out of the garbage and then wipe his melty chocolate fingers all over the white couch, then while I cleaned that up he got on the counter and dumped water all over brother's valentines box and ripped the decorations off. After calming brother and getting that all cleaned up well...he went to bed :) He is just a walking disaster!!!

From Calvin on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 16:58:49 from 209.23.216.3

If you're already willing to go out at 6AM on your birthday, surely you'd agree to 5:30AM instead, right? What do you say Chad?

From Chad on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 17:22:02 from 168.177.153.27

Maybe QP is right. Bridle.

From Chad Robinson on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 18:02:45 from 50.73.39.89

I think we may absolutely lose Rachel - but 5:30 would work as well.

From RAD on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 19:53:58 from 98.202.23.178

Cal, Did you miss that it IS my birthday?!? who wants to get up early on their birthday? well, okay...for company on a run I just might :)

Chad, she always has the best ideas!

Chad R, maybe you two should have a birthday run in my honor. I'll sleep :)

From catherine on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 20:16:54 from 98.202.112.38

I wish I could! But I have Elliott duty Wednesday mornings. I hope you have a fun run, though. And yay for being almost back to normal!

From Steam8 on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 21:20:57 from 166.70.55.77

Meanwhile hope you are having a GREAT Valentine's Day run ON THE ROAD!!! Yeehaaw!!!

From DaleG on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 13:06:47 from 71.199.57.238

If I lived closer, I'd come run with you on your birthday.

Happy birthday a day early.

From RAD on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 14:31:34 from 98.202.23.178

Catherine, if you are home/around you could bring her in the jogger! Trust me, it isn't going to be fast.

Amy, I wouldn't quite say fast, but I'm gettng there. Just happy with no pain.

Brent, oh don't you worry about me eating well on my birthday - eating is one of my talents, and I bring out the best on my birthday!!

Smooth, If that doctor tells you that you can run tomorrow I might have to check their credentials first! :) BUT, now that food thing...we can definitley do that!!

Dale, what? driving 50 miles one way for a 6 mile run isn't quite worth it for you? :) Just eat a nice treat in celebration!

From catherine on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 14:52:50 from 98.202.112.38

But is this turning into a 5:30 run? :)

From Calvin on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 15:09:36 from 209.23.216.3

(count me out on the 5:30 thing... i wouldn't do that to you on your birthday!)

From RAD on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 15:27:43 from 98.202.23.178

Catherine, um -no. Especially the way I feel (on the verge of sick - fighting with all my might!) I don't think getting up early is going to be a good answer for me; although I'd love the extra company I could wrangle in at that hour!!

Cal, since you're chickening out on the 5:30 run you'll just have to join me some other morning...or Saturday?

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 15:33:54 from 50.73.39.89

I will be running @ 6 am regardless. Just let me know.

From Chad on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 15:47:32 from 168.177.153.27

Go at 5am, that will give you more birthday to celebrate. Sleeping in just takes hours away from a wonderful day.

From RAD on Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 16:02:19 from 98.202.23.178

you two - stop it! Quit making me feel guilty for wanting to sleep in! There have been years I've gotten up early, and I don't think I regretted it. But, if I have a choice...
