Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

WOO HOO! Hit my 40 miles this week, and ended in good style. Got to meet Toby, Chad and Chad's neighbor Richard at the Lehi JRP for a little 10 mile jaunt. I wish it was as easy as it was 2 months ago. Today is 8 weeks from x-rays and unfortunately, those 8 weeks have taken more from me than I'd hoped they would've. Oh well, onward and upward - it's the name of the game, right?

Richard is my new hero! The man has run Comrades, not once but twice. I'm not exactly sure if that is 2 finishes and 3 attempts or 2 attempts and one finish, because he told us the first time he tried it he was the first one to the stadium after the gun 11hrs and TEN seconds. He said it's the only time he's made the paper for running. He is from South Aftrica and is starting to run again after losing 65 pounds. Seriously, I'd love to hear more stories from this guy!

10 miles North, which is the hilly side and I wish those hills didn't feel quite so hard. I hate that I've lost so much - hate. I thought I'd done everything right to jump right back in and it just isn't going to be that way. But, I'm still jumping and crossing my fingers. AP: 9:15 Two miles under 9mm and the last 37 feet were a 6:36 AP - ha, nice! :)

I had a wonderful time with everyone and am SO grateful Toby let me tag along with her today. Since I took my daughter to Leatherbys last night and ate myself sick on ice cream, caramel and hot fudge I didn't eat anything this morning. Got sick stomach about mile 7ish and really wanted to stop. Thanks to some water from Toby I was able to stick it out the last 1.5 miles and not barf. *sigh* I hope it was the ice cream and not eating and not that I can't handle 10 miles. My legs don't feel run down, but it sure was a lot harder than I would've liked it to be - mentally and physically. Thanks to amazing friends!!!

NICE JOB!!! That is a great time, you have jumped right back in.

Kelli, I'm a little bummed about it and how hard it felt. I really wish I could've pulled out 8:45's today and felt like I could've done more, but I was good with where I was at. Are you going to run the corridor anytime soon? I want to run it with you if you are! I've been waiting a long time and with the lights going up I'm afraid I'm not going to get a chance. What about Monday? What are you doing on your day off? :) willing to drag me along?

From Kelli on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 13:38:46 from 71.219.85.126

I have not thought about it much yet. I did want to do spin since it is the only day i will be able to next week. What if we went a little later in the day?

From RAD on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 14:13:04 from 98.202.23.178

Craig has to work, but I might be able to find a babysitter for a little later in the day. I may have to end up going super early though - blech. Let me know what time works for you and I'll see what I can make work!!

Hey, 40 for both of us this week!!

From Rachelle on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 14:46:50 from 66.7.127.115

Yay!! I am so glad you are making such great progress Rachel. Consistent progress! That is all that matters. :)

From allie on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 15:49:42 from 97.126.211.101

excellent run! 40 is great -- and don't worry about the fitness -- you probably haven't lost as much as you think and it comes back very quickly. you have made a lot of progress already. keep it up!

From Nancy on Sat, Feb 18, 2012 at 20:31:24 from 76.23.21.118

Nice job Rachel. I'm glad you are able to get out and run 10 miles now.

Way to get back into the "run" of things. You are regaining your distance quite quickly. Even kept going a few extra miles when you felt like barfing.

Next time you go to Leatherbys, take me with you :)

From Chad on Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 10:20:46 from 71.199.13.143

It was great seeing you again Rachael. I can't believe how good you are doing after being booted for all that time. You already ran more miles than I did this week. You make me sick.

From The Quiet Pirate on Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 10:47:53 from 152.26.59.252

What a great week of running you had! Congrats on your mileage and having a great birthday run. Hope L's arm heals soon.

From RAD on Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 13:20:43 from 98.202.23.178

Andrea, It feels good doesn't it? I hope we both continue a good upward trend!

Rachelle, you're right - I should look at it that way.

Allie, I'm suprised I've been able to jump back in with no issues, so I now just want/need the speed to come back.

Nancy, thanks it was good!

bye-wing, the way I felt the day after Leatherbys this time I just might have to wait until I can take you with me!!

No Chad, eating a ton of ice cream, hot fudge and caramel less than 10 hours before your run makes you sick! :) You've had ankle issues that put you behind or you'd be beyond me right now!

QP, me too! I enjoyed my running week and I hope I get outside even more!! I hate that TM.

From Chad on Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 13:28:05 from 204.113.19.55

You're right about the ice cream. You've got me beat there.
