Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Okay, so I'm a pansy. I know it. I admit it. It may not make it any better, but at least I acknowledge it :)

I was awoken at 6AM by a BIG gust of wind against my bedroom window. I panicked. No way was Jessica (my poor tag along) going to run in this wind, and there was NO way I was going to ride in this wind - I'd get pushed over. So, I'm panicking, can't sleep...trying to find a way to do this...GOT it! We can go to the Olympic Oval and run, then they have spin bikes on the side of the track we can use, and Kearns 50M pool is covered this year and we can go next door and do laps. Perfect. I still couldn't sleep though.

Called Jessica when I got up and proposed my plan to her - she was in! I was SO excited, and to have company too. Jessica had never run more than 9 miles, but has done a lot of tris (mostly sprint) and I knew she'd tough it out.

We ran 10 miles w/out stopping. Jessica was a trooper! We started out at a good pace, but slowed as the miles wore on. I expected this and I was just happy for the company. She did an awesome job and toughed out a GREAT run. Only 7 more laps and I would've netted 12 miles...I just couldn't stop :) So, I told her I was going to push the pace and grind out a quick 7 more. Ran those probably 8-8:30ish pace, totally guessing. I went to the car and grabbed my water bottle I'd left there and when I came back Jessica had finished another 7 laps too! She is so awesome.

After a quick snack we jumped on the spin bikes for 80 minutes. Kept the resistance like a slight uphill and tried to keep cadence higher. I got tired about 20 min in, but the last 30 minutes went quickly!

Then, off to the pool. They were making you swim the short way, so I was still stuck in the 25 pool, but whatever. I would alternate 400's with freestyle, then free with fins. I tried to do breaststroke, but only got 100 in then was ready to go back to free. I finished with 2000 in the pool (I don't know if it was yds or meters). 1 full hour of swimming, plus breaks every once in a while in the water to chat or grab a drink.

I was exhausted! Holy Moly that took a lot of work. Stopped at Subway on the way home and I don't think a sandwich had ever tasted so good! I feel like I ran a marathon - minus the sore body. The biking and swimming really help keep the cardio and workout going, but eliminates the pounding on the body. I finally feel like I got a great Saturday workout in! It may have taken 4.5 hours of work + transition time, but man was it worth it! I feel like a million bucks for being able to accomplish this. Helps me feel not quite so much like a pansy and a gimp :)

Don't ever let me hear you say pansy or gimp! You are far from that!!! :) You're the toughest diehard there ever is! I am so glad you got to do your TRI and with good company too! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME 4.5 hour workout! I hope you ate the whole footlong and some desserts to go with it! :) :) :)

Wow, what a workout. But it sounded like a ton

Of fun. 4.5 hours is a long time to do any exercise but when you mix iit up like that it is a lot more fun. Wish I could have joined, but I think it would have been a 6 hour workout for me :) WELL DONE.

I sure hope you are tired...you should be! I am by just reading it!

Nicely done! You will be back in no time!

I kept hearing your voice today in my ear...just like at the SF Half marathon :)

Smooth, it was amazing - I just hate that I whimp out at bad weather. I had a coupon for a free 6in and so I just got that and ate it. But, I came home and downed my chocolate milk recovery drink which is always better than dessert! :)

bye-wing, we'll have to get one of these in while you are here this summer! I'm getting excited for all the summer fun :)

Toby, maybe I need to learn to be quiet and not talk so much on our runs together. Then you won't constantly be hearing my voice yelling at you :) I think you would do an awesome job in a workout like this? Wanna do it with me sometime? :)

Brent, I'd have loved to be in SGM and do a workout like this down there! At least the weather would've been good. Thanks for the commando points - I can always use a few more of those on days I feel like a pansy :)

All I can say is WOW, that is one heck of a Saturday workout! I can even think of running 5 miles much less do all of that. That is awesome! :)
