Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Finally feeling back to 100% - Did Heidi's kickboxing class this morning and WOW! What a workout, my legs thought it was raining from the sweat dripping on them! I then drug myself out to the TM to do 5. I had to start out slow at a 10mm because my legs were shot! After a couple miles I was able to bump it up a little and finished the last .25 at 8mph. Felt really good today, after I got past my 3 mile wall on the TM.

I'm definately feeling the effects of kickboxing yesterday. My legs were gone. Got through the workout with BBK's in the land of hills though, it may not have been fast, but I got through it! We started out with a good 3 plus mile warm-up that I kept 9-9:30 mm, then we did a 4 mile tempo run with who knows how many hills - I was trying not to count. I had my best miles there 8:17-8:40, I swear my effort felt a lot more than that! Then I did a few more just to finish up to my goal for the day, had a wonderful run and chat with Cheryl and Lisa this morning. The rest of the group was doing their own thing because of Boston. My AP for the entire run was 8:59 - hey, don't laugh it was under 9 :)

Afterward I came home and hit the tub (I can't wait until I get to come and I am WARM), I was so tired I fell asleep for about 30 mintues. I've NEVER done that before, I always thought it was weird that people could fall asleep in the tub. After a quick shower and pulling the kids out of bed to get to school, I was off to yoga. Oh, I loved yoga this morning!! I've needed that deep stretch and relaxation all week. Now, I'm off and ready for the day...if only it would warm up and really be spring!

I'm stealing Kelli's blogging today. I heard a song on the radio that I had never heard before on my way to running group and I loved it! It really hit home for me today (its long, but good):

I can almost see it.
that dream I'm dreaming, but
there's a voice inside of my head, tellin'
you'll never reach it
every step I'm takin'
every move I make
feels lost with no direction,
my faith is shakin'
but I gotta keep tryin'
gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
ain't about how fast I get there
ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
it's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
the chances I'm taking
sometimes they knock me down, but
no I'm not breaking
I may not know where, but
these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most
I've just gotta keep goin', and
I gotta be strong
just keep pushing on, 'cuz

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
always gonna be an uphill battle
sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
ain't about how fast I get there
ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
it's the climb

Keep on movin'
keep climbin'
keep faith baby
It's all about, it's all about
the climb
keep the faith, keep your faith, woah

(okay, side note and disclaimer - I had no idea this was by Miley Cyrus until I searched for the lyrics. Just the other day I was saying how I thought she was overrated - open mouth, insert foot!)

legs are still feeling a little fatigued from the last couple days, but I like to take Fridays off (from running) anyway. I did resistance and then rode the upright bike for 13 miles, in 40 minutes. Looking forward to a good long run tomorrow - just hope the snow isn't too bad!

What a morning! I was really hoping that I'd get to Lehi and everyone would call it off so I could go home and sleep. But, as soon as I got out of the car and felt the energy of all my friends I was ready to go...snow, hail, slush and all :) We started out and going north had its nasty times: big hills and horizontal snow giving us the much needed 'microdermabrasion' treatment again. The miles were slow, but enjoyable I met and ran most of the first few with Luzy and I had a GREAT time. Smooth caught up to us (didn't realize we were that far ahead) about 2.5 miles and then the miles went even quicker. Saw a few other groups on the trail, and its always nice to know that your not the only crazy runners out there! Stopped for a few minutes to learn some new stretches and potty at 5 miles then headed back to the cars. Running south finally turned pleasant, I think more than once I commented about how happy and comfortable I was!! At the cars we got a drink then headed another 3.5 south. Again it was just great company and miles flying by, but the temp was going up so the snow was turning into slush so I ended up with wet pruny feet. No problems or anything eventful until mile 16 when my left IT bit me! Took 20 seconds to stretch it out then never heard from it again....even now its fine, YEA!! When we got back to the car and I noticed the time on the garmin I was really suprised at the AP - 9:37. I was definately comfortable, but its a little slower than I usually do; however, after missing 4 weekends of long runs I was just happy to get the 17 in! PLUS can you really put a pace on feeling good and having GREAT company the ENTIRE run??? Nope, I'm just loving it all! I did have a GREAT negative split though. I was over a 10 mm (for a few miles) into the snow and up hills, then fell to just over a 9 mm for 6 or so, then dropped to high 8's for the last 2 - got to give myself credit for that.

I had a wonderful time meeting Leslie, Tarzan, Luzy and seeing Smooth and Marion again. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU LADIES!!! I wouldn't have even thought about running today if it wasn't for you all. We need to do this again soon!! I had to take off afterward, because I was late to get home to start work/babysitting so I left muffins and juice and sped home to get to 'work' - I hope you all enjoyed the muffins, I sure did! Ate more than I should have, as usual :)

Thanks a million to Kelli for running with me early this morning so I could get a good workout in before a long day of sitting for training. I think our AP was 9:07 (too lazy to go get the garmin to check for sure). Which is great, because our worst split was 10:16 and that is on the 'wicked hill' course!! Had a great run and am ready now to go to bed early then wake up early for the BBK wicked hill course tomorrow :)

Got another good hill workout in with the BBK's this morning. I'm learning to love those things, I HATE them while I'm doing them, but when I feel faster and good afterward then I realize how much they really help me!! My splits today were pretty decent - especially if anyone has run parkway palisades, of course I was dragging the back of the group, but I can only race against myself so it was good for me! My AP for the run was 8:39 - splits: 9:46, 8:50, 9:02, 9:03 - mostly warm up, started hills at 4.8 something? 8:22, 7:54, 8:19 - hill repeats, yea! One under 8 must've been the downhill :) 8:39,8:09,8:22 - tempo run to finish things up.

After the run I went home, caught a little nap then met Kelli at the gym for weights (following her workout kicked my butt!!) then did 9 miles on the upright bike (30 min). Whew! A great workout. Now I'm ready to hit the park and hang with more friends all afternoon - YEA for warmth (I'm trying not to say it too loud, it might go away if I do :)

Went to kick-boxing this morning. Didn't seem as brutal as last week, but almost. Then hit the TM for 5 downhill tempo. I stayed at 7.4 mph for the majority of the time then the last 1.5 I kept hitting the speed up so I could finish in 40 minutes (day care time!) I hit over 9mph the last .4 miles and finished in 41 minutes. Not too shabby, but please remeber I was at a 3% decline :) I can only run that fast downhill! I'm so glad I have Kelli to chat with while I run, or else I don't think I'd ever get it done - she really is the best!! -Thanks Kelli!!

Met the BBK's in the soaking rain this morning - great 3 mi warm up, THEN the fun began! We did 2 5K tempo runs with a recovery between. The first one, I headed out challenging Walter to a 4 mm - hahaha, that lasted for about 20 feet, and I think I only hit a 6 mm in my 'sprint'!!! Either way it put me a few feet in front of the group. I was determined to stay in front of Julie, Michelle and Cheris behind me, then about a .25 later it was 'just don't let them out of your sight'. I finally re-caught them just as Dean and Michelle P caught up as well. They again took off, but I stayed 50 feet or so behind them. I had to talk myself into pushing more nearly every .10 for the last 1/2 or more. I almost caught Cheris as she broke off maybe 20 feet behind the group. I was pleased with my effort, but was in awe that those speedy people can talk and chat at that pace while I'm stalking them with my heaving breathing behind them :)  The second 5K I felt exhausted, but as I started I was able to pick it up. I again kept up with Michelle and group for the first mile and DIDNT let them gain on me on the hill (this again was a mental game I had to talk myself into doing!!). Then they slowed just a little and gave me the motivation to try and catch Michelle P and Nancy about 75 yds or so ahead. By the time we rounded the last turn to the park I was only 20 feet behind them, and then they noticed me and turned around to chat with me in - wondering if I was that close the whole time "no, you would've heard me breathing!" It was a great run and I felt good about it, because I kept pushing myself and I wouldn't let myself give up. I'm gonna need that mental toughness in about 5 weeks!!! (Ogden, my 1st full). Then I finished up the last 1.5 with Nancy so she could round out her miles - funny how we have to do that, crazy runners!

Went home SOAKING wet - I almost felt like I was running in saran wrap, because my clothes/rain jacket wouldn't breathe!! I think my husband was cussing my name all the way to work, because he had to sit in my puddle from me driving his car home :) My AP for the run was 8:17 - splits, 1-3(warm-up): 9:14, 8:28, 8:30  4-6 (first 5K): 8:01,7:23, 7:22  7-9 (2nd 5K): 8:27, 8:10, 7:40 10-12 (cool down): 8:32, 8:54, 9:00

Afterward I went to yoga and had a great stretch and am feeling great now!! Running is an amazing sport and I'm so happy for all the wonderful running/workout friends I've made. Thanks to you all for helping me and pushing me to always do my best, you all are to blame for my success :)

Went to the gym this morning for a short but tough weights workout. After 30 minutes of resistance I did the bike for 45 minutes - 15 miles. Easier resistance, but tried to keep the speed up. It was a great 'rest' workout for my Friday! See many of you tomorrow at PR trail, I'm excited and right now it sounds like the rain may be light or stay away until afternoon - YEA :)

YEA!!! Another fabulous Saturday run with fabulous friends! We did miss a few of you due to those nasty spring flus that are going around - hope you feel better soon!!

Kelli and I met early and did 6 - Then we ran 12 with the group. I tried to keep up with Becca to keep my pace up, dang that girl is fast!! It was rough for me at times and I know she was holding back for me, but she has Boston next week so she should go slow :)

We had a great time afterward with juice and cookies - no we're not 3, we just appreciate good food!! The rain held off for the whole run and just started to get cold and sprinkle as we were leaving. I wish every running morning could be like this -weather was cool and shady and  no moisture!!

AP for the run was 9:01 (2hrs 51min total). splits: 9:35, 9:01, 9:22, 8:27, 8:30, 8:33, 9:31, 8:56, 8:47, 9:40, 9:22, 9:05, 8:13, 9:38, 9:10, 8:46, 8:37, 8:36, 9:28

THANKS TO ALL YOU RHPCs FOR A LOVELY RUN!!!

Did an easy 6 around the 'hood early this morning, and got Lucy out as well. Felt really good, and when I looked at the AP I was at 8:32 - it surprised me that is was that fast, I felt like it was slower than that because I was just getting a few good ones in.

Then I hit the step class this morning and had another great workout, I LOVE that class.

Got home and worked outside in the yard all afternoon, it was a beautiful day!!! I'm so glad I got the stuff done in the yard that I've wanted to get done for over a month now, but everytime I go out to do it its TOO COLD!! Got some new stuff planted and hopefully put an end to Lucy's digging holes ~ we'll see in a couple weeks :)

Barely made the 5:45 group this morning. I was pulling up as they took off...I didn't want to get up this morning. Tapers are SO hard for me! I feel like I should be doing more, but know that I can't - UGGGHHH! I went to the gym this morning and didn't know why I was there after I had run 6 miles. My legs are a little achy (just from normal stuff) and my arms and upper body are achy from raking mulch back into the flowerbeds yesterday - I've got 3 nice blisters on my hands, I'm SOOOO glad I don't run on my hands!!! So I did a little weights and rode the recumbant bike so I could flip through a magazine. Hmmmm, I talked to my neighbor probably more than I worked out :)

This morning's run was hard, I thought we were going fast - NOPE! My AP was 8:48, slower than yesterday and I thought I was going to die today. Why does that happen?? Why one day can I run fast and feel like its slow, then the next day run slower and feel like I'm dying?!? I don't get it, It couldn't have anything to do with the 10 pounds of Easter candy I've eaten the last 3 days could it??

Woke up to rain this morning...went back to bed. Slept until I had to get up to go to another all day training for work. I was going to work out, but the rain and my excuse of "I'm tapering!" helped me go back to bed and sleep for another 2 hours :)

I'm really trying to push through my head that I want to 'race' SLC. Even at Myrtle Beach, I felt like I could've given more, pushed harder...I didn't leave it all out there. I want to try to reach my wildest dream - give it all, don't hold anything back! However, I always make excuses while I'm running and then just run for fun...hmmm, any suggestions? Not that I don't want to have fun, but I do want to push myself. How do you get your brain to do that for you and not give up at the first sign of distress or 'heavy breathing'?

Got up early to meet the non-Boston BBK's this morning, good easy run - AP 8:52. Still stressing about SL, but I think I just need to do my best - whatever that may be - and NOT stress about my mental state (I have enough other stress in my life!!!)

Off now to Yoga, then a fun filled morning/afternoon at the packet-pick up expo and the Children's museum at Gateway.

Good luck all you Bostonians!!! I hope the weather holds out, just overcast - NO RAIN!!

So, I did it!! Yea, another month, another PR :) okay, okay, I know this knocking off huge amounts can't last forever, but it really amazes me that just one year ago I ran this race in 2:09! I had a lot to prove to myself and I felt really good about my effort...now if I can just get my stinky ITbands to cooperate with me, I could maintain my speed through the last few miles NOT having to stop and stretch and making every stride painful. DANG!! Does anyone know what to say to a doctor to get him to do surgery so you don't have to deal with them anymore?!? I'm sick of them! Its been 18 months of dealing with them on and off, I thought losing 40 pounds would help, but nope...still fighting them 3 pounds away from goal weight :(

I don't remember what my overall placings were, but I can't imagine them being too bad - better than last year anyway :) My AP was 7:40, my best was 4:36 (holy moly!) and I had a total distance on the Garmin of 13.17 - didn't use my tangets well :) Here is a breakdown of the splits:

1- 7:14 (even with not realizing we were at the start mat and then having to walk for 50 yards before there was room enough to run!!)

2-7:06 (keeping up with Kelli)

3- 7:03 (still keeping up with Kelli)

4- 7:05 (Kelli's out of sight, because I stoped to 'swallow' water and she didn't)

5- 7:35 (no more Kelli to keep up with, I guess I just slowed down...)

6- 7:40 (staying steady even without Kelli - yea, I can do it myself! :) )

7- 7:23 (gu'd at mile 7 with h2o - I should've grabbed 2 cups, I had sticky all over in my mouth until the next water!)

8-7:50 (no idea why I'm slowing....)

9- 7:30 (this seemed like the longest mile... 10 NEVER came!!! but time was good.)

10- 7:59 (okay, this is where I'm having to stop to stretch those stinky IT bands!)

11- 8:02 (I round the corner from Liberty park onto state street and the line of runners doesn't seem to be turning at the courthouse like last year...it doesn't REALLY go all the way up that stinky hill ahead, does it?!? - obvious issues with IT and mental capacity!)

12- 8:49 (yup! It went ALL the way up the hill...the anticipation of the hill and the ITB's were KILLING me!! Trying to stay mentally strong and push out all I had!)

13- 8:20 (able to pick it up a little downhill - stopped in front of the temple to stretch IT's and the sister missionaries wished me luck. That was the reason I was so fast!!)

14- 8:11 (tried to pick it up to the finish and not let 'heavy breather' pass me - seriously, you could hear him when he was 50 feet behind me!! He did out sprint me to the finish...but only by 5 feet or so. My knees were spent, my heart and brain could've pushed, but my ITB's wouldn't move for loving or money! However, last year the run down Gateway was pure misery...this year I actaully enjoyed it AND it was 1/2 as long :)  )

So, there it is...in a nut shell (okay not really). I had a great race and besides nursing those STINKY ITB's feel GREAT!!! I actually got to meet some 'fun' people who run under 8 mm - I've found most people that fast are too serious to have fun and laugh/talk in a race!

28/557 for age group (wow, a ton in my age group!!)

307/4125 out of ALL runners

71/2544 women runners (hehe, top 100!!)

Quads are still very tight, I have to walk down the stairs sideways :) So, what do I do....go to step class! I don't know what I was thinking, it did really help with the soreness though. Step class was good and it felt good to get moving again...I'm a little afraid to run still even though I want to hit 60 miles this week. After step I can feel my ITB's a little...I don't want them to get aggravated before Ogden, so I might try a few this afternoon/evening depending on my motivation level :)

Step class and Ab class afterward...good to get moving!! Can't wait for those Boston reports...YEA!!!

Met the BBKs at Kelli's house this morning, it was nice to only drive 3 miles and be able to sleep in those extra 15 mintues :) Kept an AP of 8:40 for the lovely Herriman hills run. Felt good to get out and run. Quads are still a little sore, but I didn't even feel my IT the whole run which was a blessing! I just have to remember to keep stretching it and my hamstrings to hopefully one day loosen them up for good!!

After the run, I rode my bike to the gym and did weights for the upperbody and some hamstrings to help even out those quads :) The rest of my legs got a great workout this morning on those hills!!! Then 30 minutes on the stationary bike...then rode my bike back home (that is uphill...) then I had only 15 minutes until pick-up for preschool so Nathan and I kept on riding through the neighborhood (Nathan's 2 and is in the baby seat on my bike). No idea how many miles, but we had a BEAUTIFUL ride!!! I'm so excited, because I love to ride to and from the gym and Nathan has a good time too. YEA FOR SPRING!!! This summer/fall when David starts Kindergarten I can do it everyday if I want :)

Laundry will take up the rest of my afternoon and church meetings all evening! Hopefully we can get outside a little more to enjoy the beautiful weather!!

Got my butt kicked again in Kick-boxing! However, I LOVE the cross training - more side to side and muscle work than just forward movement like running and cycling does!

Hit the TM for 4.5 afterward, wanted to do downhill fast running to see if I could push my ITB and not feel it. Seemed to work, no pain during or after! Also read the article in April's RW about 'quality over quantity' so since I'm not going to get my 60 in this week like I wanted, I really wanted the miles to be good ones!! Did the miles at 7:40 mm or faster (sprinted at 6:30 for the last minute!!)

Went home, got to babysit a cute little 1 yr old so I threw the kids in the jogging stroller and thought I get a few more in and then take them to the park...YIKES!!! I forgot what it was like to run with the jogging stroller. stopped after 500 feet on the uphill :) Did get one more mile in - AP 10:17, hehehe. It doesn't help that my stroller pulls more to the right than ever!! It practically does a U-turn every 20 feet, it takes WAY too much effort to adjust the stroller AND run! Any good suggestions of places that could do a 'tune up' on the double jogging stroller for me?

Love the beautiful weather and wish it would stay like this for another 10 months or so :) -I'll take 2 months of monsoon season to get all the moisture we need, and fit in a little ski season!

Met the BBKers for group run this morning. Did a slow 3 mi warm-up, but I felt like I had lead legs!!! It took a long time this morning to get feeling comfortable and able to run a good pace. After warm-up we did an almost 3 mile tempo loop down the JRP- up 106th accross 1000W then down to JRP. Kelli kept me going...then she decided we needed to catch Michelle and Cheryl in front of us, it may have been the last 100 yds and downhill, but we finally caught them!! Then we reversed the loop and ran it again, the uphill was easier this way... YEA!! This loop I ran alone most of the time, but was finally ready to push myself to keep the pace up. Finished with a nice slow cool-down of just over a mile.

AP: 8:33/ warm-up: 9:15, 8:40, 8:44/ 1st tempo: 8:46, 9:01, 7:48/ 2nd tempo: 8:30, 7:44, 7:55/ cool-down: 9:05

okay, so the warm-up and cool-down weren't as slow as I thought!! No wonder I was dead!!

Afterward I got to ride my bike to the gym for Yoga, then had to battle the uphill to get home - I just put the gear lower and spin my feet, I'm not in a rush to get anywhere....especially when I'm biking UP-hill :)

Lovely afternoon....too bad we get a soggy Saturday :( maybe we can wish it away!!

Went to the gym and did the recumbant bike for 60 minutes (15 miles) - just enough to keep the legs moving and warm, then was able to stretch a little. Trying to save/recover some legs for my 22 tomorrow, peaking before Ogden - can't believe its already time to peak - aahhhh!!! The butterfiles in the gut just started....

Well, I did it...if I can run 22 on no sleep and pizza and cookies with no taper I have confidence in completing 26.2 in three weeks with good eating and taper...I think :) The only issue I had was at 21 miles my IT was SOOOOO bad, but I was able to stop and stretch then 'gimp' in the last 1 mile. I NEED to stretch like CRAZY the next three weeks to loosen that baby up!! I know it probably had a lot to do with still having some leftovers from last week, but I'm so afraid it will kill me - stretching can't HURT, can it?

I need to give kudos to Power Kelli!!! She put up with my stoping to stretch and whinning (I hope most of it stayed in my head...) AND did 7 more miles than she had planned...is she the best running partner ever or what?!?

Nuts and bolts: AP - 9:04; 1st ten out and back: 9:21, 9:12, 8:55, 9:22, 9:47 (hills!!), 8:50, 8:54, 8:58, 8:55, 8:45; stoped for water, gu and gatorade - next 9 out and back: 9:27, 8:50, 9:07, 8:48, 9:12, 8:57, 9:10, 9:03, 8:52 (one small stop at about 15 for a pre-emptive stretch and some 'magic' beans...must've been the caffeine, but I swear those 2 jelly beans put a spring in my step!!) - last 2.8, okay I'm saying 3: 9:05, 9:04, 9:01  (pretty good for how I felt...consistant pace anyway even for the horrible pain I felt!)

When I got home I did an ice bath to compare with last week when I did nothing and between the Aleve (thanks again Kelli!!) and ice bath I'm actually feeling pretty darn good - soreness wise. I also walked about 1/2 - 3/4 miles afterward and I think that helped as well! Still trying to figure out this "how to not get sore" thing.

I feel good about the run and hope that it helps me mentally prepare for Ogden and that my body is able to 'take it all in' by then as well. Now, I'm off to refill those 2800 calories I burned off this morning :)

Got my lazy butt out of bed early for a good 8 miles. My goal was to keep the pace at or below 8mm - I want to do shorter runs with a faster pace, quality not quantity this week. I did a warm-up mile, stretched (to see how stretching pre-run will affect ITB) then took off for another 4. It was up and down through the 'hood, you wouldn't think my neighborhood is too hilly until you try to bike or run it! I dropped Lucy off at home then hit the stake 5K route that goes past my house. I did it 'backward' to have a 1/3 mile downhill home, but DANG!! The uphills were tougher than I remember running it the right way. AP for entire run was 8:11, not too bad for the hills, but not as good as I would've liked. I couldn't look at my garmin, because I had to keep my sleeve over the garmin to cover my FREEZING hands!

Then I hit the gym for step class...today I decided that this class really is a GOOD x-training class - keeps my HR up high for nearly the whole class. Afterward I hit the TM for 2 more speed miles - did .5 at 8 mm then .25 at 6:35 mm; It was good, until the stinky TM's kept turning off, blowing a breaker turning off. Frustrating to have to keep jumping around, so I 'm sure I did more than 2, but got it done either way.

I finally got to the last 7-10 minutes of Ab's class, stretched and came home for a yummy protein bar. I'm going to speak this outloud so I will do it...I am going to eat better so that my body is in top health for Ogden - NO MORE JUNK DAYS!!! And please feel free to ask and check on my persistance with eating well. I need to start eating to run and NOT running to eat :)

Met the BBK's the morning, it was fun to run with the 'Boston' crowd! Everyone wore their yellow Boston shirt, I almost felt like I was there :)  Did 5 to warm-up with Misty...Thanks girl for keeping those never ending hills tolerable! Then met at the track for speed work...my legs are dead, I think between Saturday and yesterday and getting no sleep they just didn't want to work. Days like this morning when I can barely push under an 8mm, I wonder how in the world I ran 13 in 7:40 mm!!! AP for the run was 9:27, 10mm for warm-up then 8-8:20's for speedwork, and 1 mile cool down at 9mm.

Hit the gym for some resistance - still tired, little motivation, so I did the class. Less intense ressistance, but more cardio. I needed the energy of the class to keep me going this mornig.

I don't know if it was subconcious or what, but my alarm didn't get turned on last night...DANG!! I missed my run this morning, good thing I did wake up early enough to get ready to catch my flight. Thought about running tonight in WA, but I'm having a good time just visiting with relatives :) MUST wake up tomorrow for a run, but I'm a little weary of running in a strange town...afraid I'll end up in the bottom of some swamp or dumpster! Will miss the BBK's tomorrow, especially with a run close to home and hittin' the hills :)

I went on the most beautiful run this morning!!! Speaking with family, they suggested running around a lake a few miles away. They said it was a popular spot for morning runs/walks - boy were they right! It was wonderful...lots of people (I felt VERY comfortable) and a few runners. However, the landscape took the cake!! I was magnificent, I just was in awe at all the beautiful trees, flower, bushes and when I started there was a light fog settled over the lake. Lake Sacajawea is a long thin lake, about 3.5 miles around and trails to go under cross roads so you never had to deal with traffic. Threre were times I would run past some flowering bushes and just want to stop and smell them!! A rest day and sea level certainly helped my pace today...it felt very comfortable AP 8:10. I'd do splits, but they were all only like 5 seconds faster/slower than that - nice and consistant :)

Came back to the house and did my personal yoga class...then got ready for the funeral. It was a beautiful service and I'm glad I was able to attend. Seems like my Aunt will be moving to Utah soon and I'm really excited, because she is my late father's only sibling and I just feel so close to him when I'm with her! I'll be coming home tomorrow and hope to get up early enough to do a few more miles at the lake in the morning before traveling - I need to get some stress out before flying with 2 young boys!!! See many of you Saturday at JRP :)
