Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again...

It is SO nice outside I need to start getting to bed so that I can wake up in the morning and run. I really hate the dreadmill!

I just did 6 today. The plan is 6, 5, 4, 3, off, UVM. A short little taper for little to no build up before the race :) I did a good 5 min warm-up on the stair master just to get the hip flexor moving. Then I did a good 90 second stretch and jumped on the TM. The 9:50 I started at sure seemed a lot harder than it should've been :( It took a while, but when I would get comfortable at the pace I'd increase the speed. Finally by 3 miles I was at 8:57 and feeling 'normal'. The first 4 miles were uphill, then I put the TM on a decline (-1%) to test out some downhill miles for Saturday. I was nice and comfortable there at an 8:20 which gave me some hope. Stayed there for the last two miles (but with a fast finish of the last .4, sprinted at 6:30 for the last tenth). I finished 6 miles at exactly 54:00 - 9:00 even AP, nice!

I skipped fit class to not tire myself out too much and just did some PT stuff for the flexor/quads, and then some planking and push-ups for good measure. Finished it off with a good 15 min stretch and roll-out. Felt like I finally got a decent workout in at the gym.

Did you see that Catherine and Faceless Ghost had their baby? Go to FG's site to see a photo. Tell friends.

YAY!! I will. I was stalking his site last week looking for news, but I didn't see any. Thanks for the info.

PERFECT run and workout!!! Looking good there Rachel!

Oh, I kept forgetting to comment on your blog pic! LOVE it!!! AWESOME air-grabbing and a flying there! I think if I'd been in that pic, your feet would've been on my shoulders! hehehe!!!

Smooth, you just made me laugh! Good thing you were able to surge and chick that guy for your pic so that I didn't 'smash' you in this one :)

"Dreadmill" is right. Outdoor running is so much better than in the gym.

Sounds like you have a good workout plan preparing for UMV - good luck with that.

I took 3 days off before the SL marathon and I ate like a pig! Taper weeks are hard! I hope you qualify so we can be in Boston together next year! :)

From RAD on Tue, Jun 07, 2011 at 10:52:43 from 98.202.17.113

Merri, I know! Before we know it Labor Day with Payson Onion Days will be upon us.

Nancy, the ladies in the background were in awe I had enough energy to jump! It was only mile 10, so it wasn't too bad :)

Carina, not sure rocking is on the docket, but a finish will be for sure!

Bye-wing, yes it is! I just enjoy my sleep too much (well, not going to bed as you know...just sleeping in) so I have to go to the gym if I don't want to kill myself with the jogging stroller.

Steam, I'm finding running this week is harder than it should be. I'm getting frustrated and anxious about it, but I have to remember it's mostly just nerves and the taper. Unfortunately, I don't see a BQ in my near future. SGM I hope to, but not UVM I've been out too long. With the baby and all I won't be able to get to Boston 2012 anyway, I'm hoping for 2013! I'd still like to have the BQ on my resume long before then though!

I think the dreadmill always feels harder than it should. I hate that thing.

Good job taking it a little easier. Good luck at UVM. Look for Michelle.
