Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

So life has been CRAZY these past few days. Friday was my son's 6th birthday, my oldest boy, and we simply had a wonderful day! Saturday was honestly the LAZIEST day I've had, but Friday night was a really, really, rough night with the baby - so hubby and I pretty much took turns sleeping all day :)

I was going to run Monday, baby woke up at the perfect time and I had him fed and back to sleep by 5:45 - let's get out and run! Well....then I took one look at my comfy bed and decided to go back to bed :) I really need to start getting up and running in the morning...

Today I hiked Timpanogus with my sister and all of our brood. It was a good time, and just enough cardio to get me moving for the day; however, I think that I'll be sore from the downhill tomorrow. It was a total of 3.5 miles round trip (we only did the cave obviously) and 1065 ft of elevation gain. I was honestly surprised at how good I felt going up. I never once felt tired like I needed to stop, but that could've been because I was stopping all the time for the kids :)

Afterward we had a picnic lunch and played in the river, I honestly am simply exhausted from carrying a baby, being on my feet and worrying about kids falling off a cliff or being swept away in a river all day! It really is hard to wrangle 4 kids by yourself, I'm SO glad my sister and her older kids were around to help me out - I wouldn't have undertaken such a thing by myself!!

I WILL get out and run tomorrow, I will, I will, I will! SGM and DN10K this Sat are looming like a big dark cloud right now....

You can never underestimate the importance of sleep when you have a newborn. Take those zzzzzzzzzzzs when you can. :)

Or is it overestimate??? I'm confused. I need to get some zzzzzzzzzzs. :)

Aw Rachel! You need to rest that super strong body of yours. Taking care of a new baby and the brood is TOUGH HARD BUSY EXHAUSTING work!

Glad you had a safe and fun hike to Timp Cave. My TX grandkids loved that hike.

No worries or stress over DN10K or SGM. Take one day at a time and enjoy the journey!

Teena - Me too!! (because I'm not sure which either...)

Smooth, it's REALLY sad, but I'm honestly afraid to run... simply because I don't want to leave baby. Am I a pansy or what?!? I'm afraid that as soon as I leave he'll cry and need me :(

Come get the stroller and take him for a run! He is used to it, it is all he did while in your belly!!!

From RAD on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:26:48 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, I should, but it's just so dang hot by the time I decide to actually wake up and greet the world. We take walks every night and he loves those, I think maybe I'm just lazy and finding excuses :)

QP sister?!?!? or do you have more than one sis? it isn't possible!

From RAD on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:30:32 from 67.172.229.125

KP, no the pirate is out to sea this year and won't be docking at home :( Our long lost sister from South East Asia is in port and we're scaliwagging around together. It's only us three - three girls NO boys in our armada.

From RAD on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:38:32 from 67.172.229.125

KP, my sister just said you can call her the Lazy Pirate :) (she is the swimmer, but has recently started running a bit. She will run the 10K with me on Saturday, so I'll put up a post for her then as well).

From KP on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:50:49 from 173.24.255.149

tell lazy sister that i have come to the conclusion that swimming is A LOT harder than running. therefore, she is definitely not lazy. i hope you girls are having fun!

sounds like a fun (and tiring) day at timpanogos. as for the underestimate/overestimate dilemma, i think they both make sense. and my head hurts as i keep thinking about it. the point is...sleep is good. rest well!

Your just too good of a mommie! Don't worry about the D-News 10, treat it a s a slow training run. And remember that you have only 70 days till SGM. Wow, I better get busy, thats only 10 weeks away!!!!see ya saturday.
