Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Got up and out a bit earlier today...slowly but surely I'm getting back into early mornings. Did the same loop to the end of the street and back, a mile a loop. That way I can be home every few minutes for the older kids in case they need me and still not have to wake up before my hubby leaves for work :)

Without the wind things were much better today! I decided to try to bump up the daily miles bit by bit this week and see what I could do, so far so good. PLUS I was able to redeem myself a bit from yesterday's slow run.

I did have a 'wonderful' runner moment this morning. There is a 4 way stop just .05 from my house that is notorious for being run (no one really stops), I had started through the intersection as a vehicle was approaching. She decided not to stop, and just barreled through the intersection. I came to a halt and she finally saw me (after I'd even pulled back a step or two) when her front tires were about three feet from the front of the stroller! Teenager on her cell phone. I got a mouthed "sorry" and she drove on by!! YIKES! Ideally, she would've come to a stop when I was about 1/2 way through the intersection, so I figured it wasn't a big deal to go on through. Good thing one of us was paying attention to what was going on. I sat and chastised her for the next mile loop (mile 3 I think).

Good run, still too hot!

you had a baby 2 days ago and you're already running faster miles and more miles than me.

argh!

From Calvin on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 11:59:33 from 66.133.117.3

nice running. (way to watch out for those teenagers.)

From RAD on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 12:09:31 from 67.172.229.125

KP, hey...he is a month old today :) If it was only 2 days ago maybe I wouldn't have gained back the 20 pounds I lost when I had him by eating all the CRAP I have in the last month!! Sitting around with a baby sure has given me a bad excuse to eat, eat, eat!

Cal, I gave her a nasty look, but I had sunglasses and a visor on so she probably didn't see it.

Yikes! Stupid teenager on the phone! Glad you're okay! A mother driver on the phone almost hit me this morning. I was running against traffic along a curvy curb by some tall weedy fields on a slight incline. She swerved when she saw me. It's true that most accidents happen within couple miles of home...people get complacent.

NICE pace pushing a baby!

HAPPY 1 month to sweet little Adam. Looks like he was seriously thinking about giving you a kiss! :)

Oh how sweet! Happy 1 month Birthday adam! My baby is 2 months on Saturday! It goes by too fast. I'm so glad you were paying attention even though the teenager wasn't!

Hey RAD, that sure is a good lookin kid! Glad to hear you gettin back into the other game (running). The game that will help you balance the rest of the games we all have to play in life.

Devine Miss M - nice defensive running, throw some rocks or something, I know you wouldn't give them the finger, but something shocking might make them think next time. HB for Adam, sweet. Also, nice run.

Way to go! I can't believe you are running so fast only 1 month after giving birth. You are one strong woman.

From Lily on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 17:25:13 from 67.199.181.73

You are doing grrreat! So awesome only 4 weeks postpartum. Woot woot!

From RAD on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 18:16:33 from 67.172.229.125

Smooth, THAT is scary, when you finally see them look at you and the swerve you know you had a close call! I liked this pic, because he makes that 'kissy face' all the time. I always tell him "if you pucker your lips, you're gonna get a kiss!" :)

Tom, some may think I'm crazy for running this soon afterward, but you are SPOT on as to why I need to!!

Brent, Oh trust me, I was ready to pound on her car. I wanted to make her roll her window down and give her a talking to! That is what I did in my head for the rest of the mile :)

Shelly, strong or crazy - well, maybe just sane enough to know that I will go crazy if I don't start running again!

Lilly, thanks, but I feel like I'm dragging like CRAZY!!

I've banged on someone's car who didn't see me once. I don't think it's a good idea unless you're really close to home or a phone. Terri scolded me for doing it. she's too nice.

Some drivers can get nasty, even when they're in the wrong.

It is illegal for teen-agers to use their phones while they drive here. I would have taken the plate # and called to report it.

I think throwing rocks/eggs/cannons is a good idea. just make sure you've got a good, quick escape.

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 20:23:35 from 65.191.108.72

as soon as I hit send, I realized I had a better idea...carry a air horn around on the stroller handles. just blow that at them :-) You can say it's for your bursitis if they get mad :-)
