Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I need a good Sunday rest to decide to run my hi-country loop each Monday :) This is the hills from h$!! loop that I love SO much! I started out with the thought that I wanted to conquer these hill, remember my ROOLS and keep the pace up. If I started whining - pick up the pace! Only one time did I feel like I wanted to stop and walk...pushed on!

I was really pleased with my efforts and finally broke the 9mm pace mark I've been hovering just over for the last weeks! PLUS, to do it on this route really pleased me for the effort I put in. I really tried to keep my flat and downhill at a good effort as well, and it all paid off in the end.

Ran by 13 deer this morning, all alive, but that is to be expected up in 'them thar hills' :) Ipod has also been resurrected so I had some tunes to keep me motivated. All in all a great start to hopefully a good week!

AP: 8:49 splits: 9:19, 9:20, 9:48, 8:24, 8:25, 8:17, 8:09

The first 3 miles are ALL uphill - 705 ft of elevation gain according to Garmin - then I get a short downhill break and then climb again, but not nearly as bad, through mile 4. Then it's flat/down for the remainder less a few short, but sweet, hills on the way home.

Now I'm off to step class and ab's class...onward and upward!

Great job Rachel. It is so fun to see deer when you run. 13 is quite a lot of deer for 1 run.

Fast hills, nice. I love seeing the wild life. I saw a fox this morning. I don't see many of them.

Lori, thanks! I hope you're back at it soon, and FEELING better too!

allie, excellent start :) I'll probably pay for it tomorrow though!

Slick, coming down...but there is no way I can see myself PRing or BQing at SGM. My patience for the speed coming back really gets my brain sometimes!

Nancy, it was fun to see the deer! Probably at least 1/2 were cute little babies bounding into the brush as I came by! The only good thing about this course is the deer sightings. I just hope I never see the Mtn Lions that tend to roam up here as well!

Chad, the first time I saw a fox on the JRP I went and bought mace! Scared the living daylights out of me. I love herbivores, but those carnivores scare me. Yeah...I'm a bit of a chicken :)

The fox was cute. It's the skunks I'm afraid of.

No need to worry about a PR or a BQ at SGM, just get yourself into decent running shape so you can go and enjoy the run in the Red Rock Sun.....
