Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

What a GREAT run! We had a nice crowd show up and I got to run with Cal, Allie and my SIL

I haven't gotten to run with a crowd for SO long it truly made the morning amazing and the miles flew by! It felt more like a 10 by myself than an 18. I was able to keep a decent pace and although I felt done at the end, I knew that I wouldn't be exhausted. Give me a few minutes to recover and I probably could've pulled out a few more miles. So, with hitting higher miles this week, keeping a faster pace and all the cross training classes as well, I'm feeling REALLY good. I might just be able to conquer SGM after all.

Maybe it's just all the good vibes that Allie puts out :) I'm certainly feeling like a rockstar today because she came out to run with little ol' slow me! Thanks Allie for being willing to come out and run with me -even though I tried to ditch you before the run even began :) for the yummy bananas that made me a rockstar when my kids got a treat when they saw me, the AMAZING company, and the opportunity to hang out with the famous Allie-croc in her inaugural long 'red' run! I've decided I'm going to have to try out the crocs on a run (another big thank you!), I probably won't give up my pampered princess shoes, but it's worth a try.

I think I'm now going to name this route "Cal's run" since this is the stretch he runs all the time. Thanks for showing us around Cal! I had a great time, as always, chatting away the miles with you.

Oh, and for anyone out there interested: You have to run on a bit of dirt, but you can run the JRP under 11400S bridge now. So, we were able to do 8 miles straight down to Bluffdale and then turn back starting at 9800S. Annette was the one that showed us this new connection! I was a little relieved I didn't have to run up and out of the river bottoms to get through.

The bugs were the only drawback from running the JRP (water ways in SL County aren't necessarily pretty). I think we were all redecorated with a nice slather of bugs when we were finished. Maybe that's why I felt so good on the run - the extra protein snacks :)

AP: 8:48 splits: 9:30, 8:50, 8:59, 8:50, 8:52, 8:46, 8:59, 8:47, 8:58, 8:54, 8:39. 8:42, 8:37, 8:45, 8:38, 8:38, 8:33, 8:36, 7:58 (last .15).

With a bit of a progressive run like that, it really gives me hope for SGM - as long as those darn stupid, stinkin' ITB's will cooperate!

Fantastic run Rachel! You MIGHT be able to conquer SGM? That really isn't a question. You WILL conquer SGM! I am a little jealous of the great run you had today, I am not going to lie. Next week I would like to run half of the distance with you, if that is ok? Or are you racing somewhere?

You got it going now! Keep the faith and get it out the door. PPPPPP!

thank YOU, RAD, for running with me this morning, even though i was late and was wearing lame shoes. i seriously had a great time running with you guys. the miles definitely went by quickly. we will have to do this again sometime.

"have you seen my wife?" LOL.

From Nancy on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 17:36:10 from 76.27.19.206

Sounds like a great run. You are in such good shape for having a baby so recently. I'm sure you will do great at St. George.

Becca, I would LOVE to have you come run with me! I just need to figure out where I'm running :) I'm doing 20, so having you around for the last 10 would be wonderful! Plus, then you could sleep in a little bit.

Slick, onward and upward!!

Allie, I told my hubby about "have you seen my wife" and he was rolling his eyes about how hard I was laughing! I'd be happy to do it again any time.

Nancy, It was a great run! I am finally looking forward to SGM with optimism.

Thanks for letting me tag along Rachel. It was a blast. Definitely one of the easiest long runs i've been on in a long time. The time just flew by.

Funny, you guys ran closer to my house than I did. I'm by the river at 11900 south. Great run.

Devine, did you recently give birth? Very nice run, looking at your splits, almost right on your PR pace.

Stay Kool, b of bs rools out

From RAD on Sat, Aug 28, 2010 at 21:17:06 from 67.172.229.125

Cal, it was great to have you along! Feel free anytime. I have to agree with the miles flying by, I honestly was dreading this run, but it gracefully slid past!

Paul, we certainly did run right by your house! My SIL lives just across the river from you...well maybe about 11300S and the east side. She is loving having the bridge there to utilize the trail more.

Brent, I'm not holding my breath for a PR, only because I know I'm not in the same shape I was and I always do quite well in training runs, but for some reason my ITB's decide to take a death grip around mile 15 in a marathon. This has been my downfall every time I've raced for a PR. So, I'll just take it easy and cross my fingers for a strong race! If I PR all the better, but I just don't want to feel my ITB's!!

Woot - Woot! It is always so fun to run with friends - you always talk about the randomish stuff :) I'm glad it went well. You are going to ROCK at SG!

You have had a fabulous week of running and working out! Now to get you some sleep....

I am glad to know about the trail, it is such a pain that it ends there, now we can run forever!!!

You will do GREAT in St George, I have no worries about that at all. Did you find a place to stay yet?
