Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

After going to bed I decided to not do the early miles, but just do the main workout with the BBK's. However, I guess I don't think well in the morning. I got all confused about re-setting my alarm clock and woke in a panic thinking I was late for main miles! I had 2 minutes to get out of the house, I raced and grabbed and raced in the car. When I got there I saw 3 people running away from the cemetery...not towards it. I actually stopped and inquired where the rest of the group was. Confused they said "the cemetery is the MAIN miles" - DUH!! The whole drive there it didn't dawn on me that I was trying to get there by 5:15 and not 5:45! Not until that moment did I realize I was now in for the early miles and missed out on the extra 20 minutes of sleep! Seriously...where is my brain??

So, I did get going and when you have to jump right out of the car and head off to running you have no time to think about how cold it is! I didn't feel cold at all (with my 4 layers on) until we stopped at the cemetery to do the relay race. I wasn't quite racing this morning...as my splits will tell and poor Melanie (my partner) had to put up with my being last...BAD last! :( After that we did 3 hill climbs/loops then another big loop back to the parking lot. Nancy R had brought doughnuts for everyone - what a lovely halloween treat!! YUM!

Oh, just as a funny side note (for all of you who may not know what an amazon I am) I wore a clown wig and my halloween shirt to 'dress up' today. I ran 2 miles with Julie in the early miles and when we got back to the parking lot I was commenting about how I was hoping I wasn't the only one goofy enough to 'dress up' - Julie looked at me and laughed "I didn't even realize you were wearing a wig!" I just had to laugh. Seriously, is my head really that high up? :)

Came home and got a quick nap (I'm going to miss these when the kids go back on track!) then went to  the gym for yoga and zumba. I really like zumba, but really just wasn't feeling it today... oh well, maybe next week. I'm taking my Thursdays off of training and just doing Tuesdays until my money runs out.

AP: 9:21 splits: 9:24, 9:05, 9:26, 9:49, 8:31, 8:31, 9:56, 9:48, 9:36 - nice and easy...I'm loving it!

I am glad you skipped training today, with your 9 miles this morning your legs would have collapsed. Okay, maybe not, maybe I am just a wimp, but I did not run this morning and my legs collapsed. It was hard to walk!

I wish the Zumba lady would leave the door open so I could see what it is all about!!!

Have a good rest of the day, amazon!

From RAD on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 14:05:41 from 76.27.12.70

Kelli, you ought to just come sometime. Tell Mike to add your missed Thursday to the end of your 'pay cycle' and come try it. It is usually fun...embarrassing, but fun!

Now I'm REALLY glad I skipped it! I just decided that I was tired of having jam packed Thursdays and I'll just do Tuesdays until my money runs out...easier and less stressful that way!

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 14:15:03 from 71.219.97.106

Not sure I am coordinated enough for Zumba, plus that would be 2 hours with Yoga. Maybe one day when i do not have to use the daycare!!!

From RAD on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 14:21:43 from 76.27.12.70

Rachel said if I pay for the extra 1/2 hour it's not a problem...if you're interested anyway. Oh, and coordination, I think I'm the laughing stock of the class as far as that goes!

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 14:23:59 from 71.219.97.106

Actually, I know for a fact that you are more coordinated than I am!

How much do you have to pay??? I asked once if I could pay for extra time and they told me NO. I would have stayed and run 3 miles today if I had known that. Well, maybe not, I could barely walk.

Maybe your head is so high up that your brain isn't getting enough oxygen. Just kidding. You're funny.

It's actually cool that you ended up doing the early miles.

I want a donut. Seriously. Snow makes me hungry.

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 15:41:28 from 24.199.205.252

RAD- Did you wear the clown wig to the gym?

Funny about not thinking clearly in the wee-hours of the morning...I can relate.

On a happy note..I got an orange glazed donut from the donut fairy here at work today. Something about Halloween and donuts....mmmmmmmm.....tasty!

I am seriously laughing about the wig! Julie really didn't notice? You are the best. I'm imagining you racing to get to the BBK's today with your wig on. Wear that on Saturday! Great workout by the way.

Too funny!!!

From RAD on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 19:26:33 from 76.27.12.70

Kelli, she has me pay $2 - but she said I could also get a punch card which I think is only 1.50 per hour. I'm not sure if she'll let us do it just for extra time, she said it was 'So you can do both classes' - so maybe it's just a class thing...can't hurt to ask!

Carolyn, I've wondered about the thin air up here before! Too bad I was good and didn't take a doughnut, huh! :( All day I've regretted it and thought about stopping at the gas station to get one!

QP- No, but I probably should've :) SO jealous...as per the note above to Carolyn, I'm still regretting my 'good' decision!

Becca, I was thinking I might. It's kind of funny and did keep my head warm :)I actually passed a cop on the way and thought how embarrassed I'd be if I got pulled over in it!

Dale, Halloween is always a good time for a laugh! :) Especially when you get to eat doughnuts!

From DonGardinero on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 19:30:49 from 152.216.7.5

Rachel, how tall are you? When I saw you at PC you looked taller than me, but then again, I was standing in the gutter and you were on the sidewalk. LOL

From Kelli on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 19:34:29 from 71.219.97.106

You have to pay $2 for the extra half of an hour????

From RAD on Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 19:39:52 from 76.27.12.70

Dale, I'm six feet - not too tall in comparison to some of you men folk (you'd probably notice the wig), but around all of the 5'3" ladies in the running group I tower...

Kelli, yeah - but I got out of it last week. If I come late to yoga and I'm only 15 minutes over I don't pay. I figure I'll only pay when they ask me :)
