Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Although I'm still hacking up a lung frequently and have my deep sultry voice and a little bit of sore hangover from Saturday (but nothing terrible!) I got up and out this morning to start my BIG mileage week before Ogden taper. I can't believe this is the last week of high miles for Ogden, the butterflies are starting to come up...and I'm hacking them out :)

Did my normal ol' big Herriman loop up through the Cove, up Emmeline, down Juniper Crest (love this speedy downhill!), then made the trek back up 13400S home - that is always the worst. Up hill there and up hill home. This is the tall tale route: uphill both ways! :)

Just ran what felt good and didn't look at my watch, pleased to see a decent pace especially for the uphills. Only stopped twice to wake up the peacefully sleeping residents while I hacked up a lung or two. The air smelt SO good this morning and I got a beautiful sunrise and the temp was perfect with just a slight breeze. You really couldn't ask for a more perfect run!! I'm glad I got out and got it done.

AP: 8:57; splits: 9:59, 8:24, 8:27, 9:08, 7:43, 8:32, 9:20, 9:35, 9:22. The last 3 miles that were uphill home were still faster than when I ran them uphill after my tempo a couple weeks ago, so I can't be too upset. The 7:43 was the super-de-duper downhill, you can't help but run fast there.

Now I'm going to take the morning and x-train in the yard with the lawn mower, shovel, rake and weed killer. Fun, fun, fun!

Nice work this morning especially being sick and after your awesome race on Saturday! Just one more week of HARD work and then your golden for Ogden!!!!

From Rachelle on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 09:28:26 from 159.212.71.25

Wow Rachel this is a great sign that you have recovered so fast from the half. You are amazing and I am so excited for you to rock Ogden this year.

From RAD on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 14:42:48 from 98.202.23.178

Carina, that is what I keep telling myself - just one more big week! I can do this...I can do this.

Rachelle, I feel kind of strange, because I can tell I'm a bit fatigued, but I never felt DEAD after the race. I don't even remember that horrible "I'm gonna die if I keep running this fast" feeling or having to walk and recover for a long time at the finish. In my mind it seems like it was all a stroll in the park :) weird, huh?

Nice run. I am excited to see how you do at Ogden. I had to use some weed killer on my next door neighbors lawn smornin'. Come on people, spray your weeds.

From RAD on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 15:29:07 from 98.202.23.178

Scott, I'm excited to see as well :) We have a few little buggers in the grass, but most of the ones I hit today were in the rocks in the park strip and flower beds. Why do you have to fight to keep the grass alive week in and week out, but those darn weeds are always nice and green and growing?!?

From Burt on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 20:04:10 from 72.223.82.180

Great job RADDY. So fast. Maybe you held back too much in your half marathon.

From Nancy on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 20:26:28 from 76.23.21.118

You recovered fast. I can't believe you can run that far after just running a half and still hacking up a lung. Great job.

From RAD on Mon, Apr 23, 2012 at 21:54:21 from 98.202.23.178

Thanks Burty! I don't think I held back, but I think my body just gave what it could under the conditions (being sick). So, I'm probably not as sore as I would've been if I'd been able to push myself more. At least that is the story I'm going to stick with :)

Nancy, hacking up a lung has become a regular thing in my life now! I'm trying to hit high miles this week for Ogden. Last push!

LIKE what I see! I can't wait for your marathon. :) After this week it's smooth sailing for you. No breaking bones, no muscle problems, and no more SICKNESS!

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 11:21:17 from 174.27.212.157

Wow! Super quick recovery, awesome run! All good signs pointing to a FANTASTIC peak at Ogden!

What is your plan for Sat.?

From RAD on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 12:48:37 from 98.202.23.178

Becca, okay, okay - no more :) Fingers crossed!

Smooth, still a little fatigued, but doing well over all. Sat I'm going to bandit the Thanksgiving point 1/2 with Toby and Lowell :) I was just assuming you'd be there! 5 beforehand, then 4 after to total 22 for the long run. You in?

From Smooth on Tue, Apr 24, 2012 at 12:54:36 from 174.27.212.157

Yes I'm IN. Karen and I were talking about it! PM me all the logistics. That Half course is all over the place! I think I will run 5 beforehand and try to hang on with dear life for the TP1/2 and quit after that. :)
