Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

An absolutely, fabulous adventure and morning with Smooth! She even called and let me sleep in an extra hour! What kind of amazing running friend does THAT for you? :)

We started a bit later, but had a great run to the North end of the JRP in Lehi this morning. A new trail may just take you down to Bluffdale soon. I can't wait for them to finish it! The best part was trying to run in the mud. HA! I grew 5 inches!! Then, it got SO heavy I couldn't run anymore. It was kind of comical really. Then we had to squeeze through the fence. Smooth went through the bottom, but I had to go through the middle.

The wind was atrocious on our way out, and I forgot how much I hate, uh, I mean love the hills out there! But, it was wonderful company, so I certainly wasn't going to complain. On the way back we squeezed through the fence again and it was just a bit harder than before, then we walked through the mud and spent probably as much time cleaning off our shoes as it would've taken us to just run around :) oh well, good times!

Afterward we treated ourselves to some yummy warm soup at Zupas, and despite the shivering, natural runners perfume and clumps of mud left under the table from our 'clean' shoes, we had a GREAT morning/afternoon. I tell ya, runs like this remind me why I love to run! Thanks Smooth, seriously had the most amazing time. Next, we just need mother nature to cooperate and cut out the wind crap!

That will be nice if they finish the new trail there. Sounds like a fun run, and 13 miles, with good company... except for the wind and "shivering" part.

I'm sure the restaurant will remember the runners perfume for a long long time :) (and the muddy clean-up too)

From RAD on Sun, Nov 06, 2011 at 23:13:08 from 98.202.23.178

bye-wing, you'll have to find your way out here in the winter to have a nice snowy, windy, shivering run with me :)

Toby, you need to join us again soon!

Terri, yeah, I'm sure they have us on a 'no-serve' list in the back now!

So cool that you're able to get together and have fun runs like that.

From Chad on Mon, Nov 07, 2011 at 11:23:29 from 168.177.153.27

They're extending the trail? Cool! I haven't been up under the new bridges in a while. I thought it might be paved by now. Apparently not. I'm glad you two had a good buddy run. I'm also glad I didn't have to have to sit at a table next to yours at Zupas. Invite me along next time you setup another of your famous group runs, unless it is all ladies. I'm not sure I'm up for that.

From RAD on Mon, Nov 07, 2011 at 16:27:00 from 98.202.23.178

Dale, I love running with people, I think I'd probably hate running now if it wasn't for the social aspect of a lot of it!

Chad, well, kind of. It only goes about 1/2 mile further, but you have to go nearly all the way north. Just before the parking lot (on those switch backs) the trail takes off north. It looks like they plan to take it a lot further, it is just stopped right now. Oh, and it isn't technically open. Still fenced off by Olympic park, but it is paved under 2100N - then you have about 100yds of mud/dirt to deal with and sliding through the horizontal slats of the vinyl fence to get to the rest of the trail. Hence, our mud slinging. We both hoped that the yummy smell of the soups in the restaurant over powered our sweat. I'd say stink, but we're ladies - we don't stink :)
