Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Another fun day with the BBK's! Warm-up for 3 miles and a decent clip and I felt good too - which hasn't happened for a while.

Then we started straight into the 7 mile tempo. I tried some positive thinking today. "Did you show up to run or show up to quit?" "Strength and Determination" Finally, when the whining got too much for my head to take: "ain't nobody here feel sorry for you!" Someone posted that they'd overheard a mother yelling that to her son on the second lap of his 1500M race. I love it!

I now think I could've pushed harder on the uphills, but there is always next time. This is a good standard tempo run they do often, so I'll have a good baseline judge. I already have HUGE improvements from when I did it last time (uphill all in the 9's and downhill all 8's except one), so we're heading onward and upward.

AP: 8:30 (it was 8:27 before doing a cool-down mile with Becca. I almost told her no, because I liked the AP so much I didn't want to ruin it :) ).

Splits: wu: 9:35, 8:52, 8:47 tempo: (uphill) 8:41, 8:37, 8:38, 8:21 (half up, half down on this one), 7:47, 7:45, 7:26 (all down), cool down: 9:05

Got home and headed off to yoga. It was a good sweaty class. Changed things up a bit and I loved it even more. I will miss my Th yoga next month when I switch gyms.

Great run today Rachel. Poop, I thought for sure we were going faster. Oh well, at least I was running without pain. I like the mantras you were trying to explain to me after the run. I get it now! When I run I really don't think, are you surprised? I just want to be going faster so I can finish. It's all part of the game. Next time you need to write those words on your hands. Then we will see if they really smear or not.

You are switching gyms? Going back to a normal-person gym? You know I am jealous of all those that get to attend that celestial facility.

It sounds like you had a great run.

Becca, you were going faster! :) Yup, we'll be at the new Herriman rec center next month.

Nancy, it was a good run! Good ol' Glenmore.

Nice run Rachel! Way to kick your brains trash. What time do the BBK's meet? I may be able to run mornings the beginning of next week.

Why are you switching gyms?

What is a bad sweaty class -smell like a daisy? Tempo and hills, good work.

Chad, they meet at 5:15 for early miles and 5:45 for the regular workout. Location varies from week to week. Send me a PM so I have your email and when I get the email for next week (usually Monday) I will forward it to you.

Terri, Club Hollywood is too expensive and too far - plus the child care ticked me off one too many times. We have a new rec center that has finally calmed down from the new/crowded stage so I can get into the child care with little problems. AND pay a LOT less!

Brent, I guess all sweaty classes are good :)

GREAT job on the tempo run. I could really tell you were cruising and visibly saw the improvements over the last time we did that same run. Don't you love when you can see improvement??? It is cool that we can check our times on the same run over and over, I like that about our running group. I was hoping to do the same....let's see, I only slowed down by about 2 minutes and 30 seconds per mile average pace. ;o)
