Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Another good sleep in day, but last night was full of nightmares - SCARY weird dreams. Then, in the middle of the night a box that has a fold up tent in the linen closet in the hall fell. It scared the crap out of me AND my hubby - all the kids stayed asleep, but we shot out of bed. It was nice to finally figure out it was then tent box and not someone breaking in and trying to kill us! The scary dreams were before that, so ugghh! It did get better the rest of the night/morning.

Went to Boot Camp which was a lot of kick-boxing and then circuits. We did a short .2 mile run outside, and I ran it strong enough to stay the front runner in the group - felt good.

Hit the TM afterward, and I think my legs were done. I started at a 9:40, but after about .75 I had to take it down to 10mm. It's a good thing Kelli was there, before I knew it I was at 2 miles and feeling better (especially after a short break to get my ipod on and working after she left). Felt good enough to finish up 3.3 miles to even out the miles for the day.

mile 1: 9:50 (about); mile 2: 10mm; mile 3: 9:40 - slower pace today, but again I was feeling better by the end. TIRED of the TM, but not enough to wake up early :) I am psyching myself up for early AM with BBK's tomorrow: I will, I will, I will!!

Remember to wake up tomorrow.

Rachel...That stinks about the nightmares. I remember my wife having those when she was pregnant. As for the box tipping over, that has happened here a couple of times in the middle of the night. The first time I seriously thought someone broke into the house downstairs. I slowly and quietly got dressed, grabbed my baseball bat and slowly made my way downstairs. A bunch of stuff had fallen off some shelves. Whew.

Paul, I'm sure I'll wake up...it's just not going back to sleep I'll have problems with :)

Dale, The crazy thing is the linen closet is RIGHT next to our room - we didn't have time to sneak downstairs, 'IT' was already ready to attack us!!

I'm sorry you had to deal with things that go bump in the night.

Of course you were the front runner when you were running with the boot camp people. You can beat the even when you're 7 months (is that right?) pregnant. That just proves that you're a real runner.

From KP on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 14:26:08 from 65.208.22.25

Let me just tell you that if I were in your boot camp class I would be so pissed that a pregnant woman beat me! That's all the motivation I need right there... I think I can hold a pace in the 7's for .20 just to beat you!

Ha! Can you tell that I'm a bit of a competitor?

From Smooth on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 14:30:55 from 174.23.237.236

I guess you're not tapering for the half on Sat. Such a diehard prego woman!

From Michelle on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 20:46:14 from 75.162.203.161

Great workout! I am excited to hear how the half goes for you this weekend. Once our Christmas tree fell over in the night, all of the shattering glass sounded like someone was breaking a window. I understand the middle of the night fear.

From Nancy on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 22:15:41 from 76.27.19.206

I'm sorry about your nightmares and getting woken up in the night. I'm glad it wasn't and ex murderer breaking in. Good job on all the miles and exercise. It's good to sleep in when you can because after the baby comes you won't get to.

From RAD on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 00:53:26 from 67.172.229.125

Carolyn, thanks :) The thing is - I have a bit of a competitive nature (which is probably why I like running/racing) but 99% of the rest of the class could care less, and probably don't notice!

KP, you're on girl!! :) When Kelli would come to class sometimes we'd race - and she'd always win. I'm glad she's not there now, she'd smoke my trash!! Oh, and honestly, I don't think 1/2 the people know I'm pregnant. It's still usually a surprise to people when I tell them.

Smooth, I think I'll start my taper Friday...? :)

Michelle, a Christmas tree falling over in the night would be crazy!! I tried to be brave, but hid safely behind my hubby and walls :)

Nancy, I'm glad it was just a 'bump' too! I'll be getting up tomorrow - hope to see you there!!!

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 10:13:42 from 24.199.205.252

Won't the people at the gym who don't know you're pregnant be surprised when they find out, and realize you were kickin' their trash????

When you & KP have your .2 race, I'll wait at the end to see who wins ;-)

You'll have to come down south again sometime so we can all meet up somewhere.

From KP on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 10:23:04 from 65.208.22.25

QP,

She's going to pop that baby out and be running again the next week. The people at the gym will just think she was really sick for a few days.

I have a little bit of youth on my side, but you guys have running experience. I think it would be a close race. In the past when I've done speed work with my friends I've always won. Although they are much better runners than me distance wise I still seem to have a little quickness to me for a short little bit. Honestly, y'all would probably still beat me. As long as you weren't 7 months pregnant, I'd be okay with it!

I'm inviting myself to the southern meet-up! I wanna go! PICK ME!

From RAD on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 10:42:38 from 67.172.229.125

QP & KP- I'm all up for our Southern 'pick-me-up' race! Oh...and did I hear someone call me OLD?!? I may be fat, but I refuse to be OLD! My fast twitch muscles may be gone, but grit and determination has replaced them!! -Just remember I'm not used to the humidity, so that might slow me down :)

I got my shirt yesterday (the lady had it done in less than 5 hours!), and I love it! I would've done the printing a little lower on the shirt, but beggars can't be choosers. I will have to wear it to the gym a couple times to help get the word out. One of the trainers approached me about how my running was going - I'm sure to get me on his payroll and help me lose weight :) I mentioned the pregnancy - you should've seen how fast he backed off!! Made me laugh :) So, yes - I'll have to wear the shirt, so I don't have to have the 'two week flu' to lose weight :)

From KP on Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 11:04:59 from 65.208.22.25

I'll be the designated sweeper at the southern "pick-me-up" race because y'all know that I can't come anywhere near keeping up with you two!

My lovely, skinny, youthful, beautiful, non-pregnant looking Rachel, I would NEVER call you old. Ever.
