Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Blah...an hour on the stair climber-ish machine at the gym. The bike was getting old and I want to try to do 2 hours tomorrow so I wanted a break today. Was going to do more, but got chatting with Mary Ellen (my new 'one legged' pity party friend) and then Kelli came in and I had to chat with her too! I thought I could pull out a few minutes still, but my daughter called - bad news. Baby Fartlek woke up in a puddle of puke, his own, from last night...yeah, I'm a good mom. I heard him cry a couple times, but it was only for a few minutes and when they're quiet and nothing was wrong when they went to bed, well...why mess with good?  So I had to get home and take care of baby. Fun times.

So, doctor report is unfortunately nothing new. I don't know what I was expecting...I wanted to go and him tell me I'd been doing it all right and I was healed! I knew that wouldn't be, but I guess I believe in miracles. He did say I was good to walk the 5K in St George and he gave me permission to try swimming! He simply said NO pushing off the wall with my R foot - try it and see how it goes. I'm cleared to do anything that doesn't cause pain. Did follow up x-rays and the 'white cloud' surrounding the fracture is starting to grow, a sign that it is healing...just slowly - like normal :( One thing he did show me that I hadn't seen/known before is that the bone is broken on an angle like this: \ through the bone. So looking at the x-rays from the top of the foot I can only see (with my layman eye) the little edges poking out on the sides of the bone, but when you see it from the side, you can see the bone poking up and broken...weirdo! Anyway, I'm horribly fascinated by x-rays and things like that, so I had a good time :)

My foot has been put back in jail (boot) for 2 more weeks, but he feels like that will probably be all. I might be free in 2 weeks!!! YAY! I told him my birthday is February 15th, and asked if I could put hopes on running then. He thought that would be a perfect place to put my hopes (8+ weeks since first x-rays). So, I just have to wait for my birthday. Also, when I mentioned Ogden he seemed to have no reservations about me being able to run that one. This made me feel much better. I can get back at this sooner than later. Which is strange to think about right now, because I don't look at runners and get jealous that I can't run. I watch their feet and wonder how they can run with no pain in their feet. It just makes my foot throb when I think about running. I know I'm not healed, I know my body needs more time. When I can walk weight bearing with no pain I'll know I'm getting close.

RAD- You are healing! AND you get to swim again, walk the 5k, & run Ogden. You're on your way back, even if you are in the boot for 2 more weeks.

Birthday running will be great!
