Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Cool, crisp morning with the sun back lighting the Wasatch Mountains. I almost felt like I needed gloves this morning! What happened to summer?

I was a little scared of the 7 mile loop today. My quads and calves were so sore from the downhill hike and boot camp, but rolling and a bit of ibuprofen last night did the trick. Still a bit of stiffness and the shins a tad sore, but nothing horrible.

Saw the same guy at the beginning of my loop and then just past 1/2 way. I'm pretty sure it was the same kid that passed me when I did this loop last time. First two miles honestly felt effortless! It was nice to just coast on downhill. On the way back I made a conscious effort to follow the Rools and increase turnover on the last hill climb of death, but I still barely pushed a 9:30...shoot! Someday before SGM I will run this loop and have that mile stay under a 9:00! I will, I will, I will!

Now off to yoga...ahhh! Best part of my week. Then tomorrow will be a 'rest' day to give my legs a healing day to hopefully be good and ready for 15. I'm still open for any takers that would like to join lonely 'ol me....

Cal, thanks,Soreness from x-training is sometimes my worst enemy!

Becca, I need to come spin with you!

Nancy, the marathon monster scared me back into it!

Kelli, you know how much I love the cold :)

Smooth, you make me laugh! You are SO stinkin' fast! I'd have trouble keeping up with you!

allie, I can't wait until effortless is more like a 7 downhill!

QP, I'll take you up on the steam room come mid winter!

Brent, been working hard to remember to pick it up and stop whining on those hills! Where are chumps meeting...and when?

Toby, the total includes hours that were 'interrupted' as well :) However, he usually goes 10-4ish, then eats and goes back to sleep till 7;30-8, so I can't complain. Oh, and you can have the chilly weather!

From Tom Slick on Fri, Aug 13, 2010 at 12:33:16 from

Hey Radical babe, keep with your program. Don't get to itchy and over do it. The little aches and pains of coming back and progressing towards will subside and life will be beautiful once again and then you (we) will run SGM and have the St. George shuffle for a week or so after.....thats life in the fast lane!

From RAD on Fri, Aug 13, 2010 at 12:53:32 from

lily, you run so fast you could race the 5K and then run across the valley to meet up with me by my mile 8! :) godd luck tomorrow!

Slick, slow and steady...my mantra lately :)
