Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Finally got to run with the BBK's this morning. Nice easy 3 miles warm up...then the fun begins! We ran from 2700W to 4800W and back (along 9800S) I had no idea how steep that road was, until I tried to run it! Good uphill - my Garmin says it was a total gain of 948 feet (over all 10 miles), which is more than my 'hill' run! Now I'm rethinking those hills, of course they are over a much shorter period. I tried to keep up with all those speedy people, but my legs were too tired from the last few days -at least thats what I'll blame it on today :) AP: 8:34 splits: 9:28, 8:54, 8:58, 8:12, 8:43, 8:48, 8:16, 7:58, 8:16, 8:03. I slowed a little after the first mile, but my consolation is that I was able to keep the pace consistant over the next two before we started downhill. Although the elevation increased I was able to keep the pace - always focus on the positive, right?

Afterward I got to go to yoga - then spent the next 30 minutes of nursery time stretching. Ready for a rest day tomorrow so that I can pretend to run the bluffdale race on Saturday!

I'd kill to run those splits even on a downhill. Don't ever think that you're not fast. YOU ARE one speedy hill running chick. Good luck on your race at Bluffdale. Is it a 10K? You will kick some major trash, I'm sure. :)

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 13:48:43 from 67.166.99.8

Yeah, its a 10K - but after feeling like I do right now I'm second guessing trying to race it and just run it. It's just hard when there are so few people...those AG awards start looking appealing :) I know too many people from BBK's that are running it so overall is out of reach, but none of them are in my AG :)

From Leandra on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 14:23:53 from 67.41.234.90

What a workout! Good job! And your splits look great, your race will be a breeze and hopefullly you win some prizes.

I dub you the Queen of Hills. Excellent work.

It looks like I'm going to be in Utah the week of July 6. Maybe I can come run a workout with you and the BBKs.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 15:20:32 from 67.166.99.8

Leandra, thanks...I hope there is a raffle, that's probably the only way I'm winning anything tomorrow!

Carolyn, Thanks and it would be SOOO fun to have you come!!! We meet T and Th 5:30 or 6:00 - PM me when you're here and I'll give you the where, they usually don't say until Monday AM for the week.

Nice hill run!!! You are awesome on the hills. I wish I could have that kind of speed on hills.

Good luck with the race, I'm sure you will do great!

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 15:45:22 from 67.166.99.8

Thanks Lori! The longer I sit around today and feel every bit of my legs ache when I'm not even moving the more I think I'll just run and not race.

From Cal on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 15:52:56 from 66.133.117.3

Great running Rachel!

I had my alarm set to meet up with you guys this morning, but it just wasn't in the cards today...

From Nancy on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 16:47:33 from 76.27.11.127

I'm glad you thought the run up was hard because I thought it was very hard even with Duke pulling me.

From Shelly on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 17:16:40 from 76.27.55.22

That was a tough run today. Great job, I didn't realize how uphill it was either. Good luck on your run/race. What ever you decide to do make sure you have fun.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 19:10:00 from 67.166.99.8

Thanks all! It was a tough run today...it kicked my butt, I had to nap this afternoon :) Cal we hope to see you soon!

From Julie on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 19:38:22 from 63.225.232.205

Nice job today Rachel. Your pace was great. Those hills are tough. I think you will do great at the race Saturday. I won't be running but I will be at the finish helping with the timing. It will fun watching all you speedy people finish.

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:17:01 from 71.219.74.247

Isn't it funny how our first three miles were not the same?? I swear we were running side by side for those 3 miles, weren't we??? Or super close. Hmmmmm...

YOU DID GREAT! I think it is like running ALL the way up 134th, about the same incline.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:19:53 from 67.166.99.8

Kelli, Our first 3 weren't the same? I'll have to check yours out...well it would be your 2nd-5th right? We were right next to each other chatting...I thought. Weird garmins! That is a rough run, and you'd never know it until you do it!

Julie, Thanks...I kept trying to catch up, but you speedsters were too fast for me this morning!!! I'm helping before the race, then running so I'll see you there!

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:20:57 from 71.219.74.247

And we were trying to catch Peggy, in our dreams anyway!

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:26:03 from 67.166.99.8

You guys looked like tiny dots from where I was on the way back!!! :)

From Kelli on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:27:53 from 71.219.74.247

You were not that far back---and Michelle and I sprinted the last little bit. Man, that girl can sprint! This is why she will always beat me in our age group.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 20:32:09 from 67.166.99.8

you just have to wait until you're in different AG - even if only for a few months :) I'm just glad I'm not in ANY of the BBK's AG :) (I think Lynette is in mine though...or someone I don't see as often.)

From Bec on Fri, Jun 12, 2009 at 00:03:47 from 67.177.35.60

Great run today! I love seeing double digits on the weekdays. Keep up the good work. Run a few miles for me next time okay?

From RAD on Fri, Jun 12, 2009 at 01:24:59 from 67.166.99.8

Bec, I disliked these so much this morning you can have them all!! :)

When's the rain going to stop so we can go on our ride?
