Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

First 'long run' of the training cycle for St George Marathon. I know it's not long for most, but I had to start somewhere. I knew if I just waited for baby to wake me up then feed him and leave I would time things perfectly wit HIM - So I let him call the shots. He was up at 5 and I was out around 5:45.

Ipod broke a couple days ago (I was running and it just clicked and won't turn on now), and didn't have anyone to run with so I was alone with my thoughts. First time I've done a long silent run in a very LONG time. I don't think I should be left alone with my thoughts - I need to run FROM them not WITH them!

When I hit the lake I was really feeling good and the paths were crowded with bikers and runners, I honestly loved it! Very energizing to see lots of others out and about. It was longer to the lake than I'd expected and I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to bump mileage up too quickly, so I did 5.75 out then I could stop at 11 and walk a 1/2 mile home -which is uphill anyway :)

On the way home just after the lake I spotted Kelli and Wendy about .25 mile or so in front of me, I was hoping I could yell loud enough to make them wait for me :) Wishful thinking, but I did catch up when they took a short walk break and it made ALL the difference in the world to me to be able to run back with them. The route is all downhill, flat around the lake then the gradual uphill climb back for 5 miles to my home. Having the company (and chasing them) those last 4 - 5 miles really made such a difference. Pace slowed, but I would've walked to enjoy company at this point in the run!!

Talked to QP on the walk home and it gave me time to stretch and roll out the legs, baby was still sleeping soundly with dad. I feel really good now and am really excited to do it again next week, but make it all the way around the lake! Running really is my drug of choice and it always makes me feel SO much better!!

great job on the mileage. sounds like it was a great morning. you will definitely be ready for SGM.

bummer about your ipod. have you tried resetting it?

From RAD on Sat, Jul 31, 2010 at 11:40:49 from 67.172.229.125

yeah, hubby's a bit of a nerd with that kind of stuff and he can't even get it on to reset it with the computer. I have another one I washed in January, so hopefully between the two he can build me one that will work :)

We were so happy to see you!!! Wendy said, "Should we keep walking to let her catch up?" And I said, "NO! Let's make her work!!!" I only allow Wendy so much walking time....I am mean! Anyway, I could tell you were running way faster than us and would catch up quick!!

Great job today!!!

Kelli, I understand about the walking thing. I was just so excited to see you guys (and have it really BE you!). Thanks for pushing both Wendy and me today, you're the best running partner around...well, next to Adam :)

Devine, runner's high hey? Sweet. It won't be long now, until your strong now. Were you talking to QP without thoughts? Was did she say back after your spat the other day.

Brent, spats over pulling weeds, dollar burgers and rotten ice cream don't last long between sisters, just mothers and daughters :)

Totally off topic but that picture of you and the little guy is adorable! Anyway, great job on your long run :)

Well done RAD! Job well done!

Brent- all the biting comments are really more digs at our past lives, and less actual digs at each other.

You'll notice we both go to the same "Dr. Pavement" therapist :-)

Wow - that is a fantastic run! I ALWAYS run with music and I'm not sure if I could do it without! Good for you! Hooray for finding running buddies!

I'm glad you survived your run without an ipod. I've never run with a ipod, in fact I've never had an ipod and wouldn't know how to use one. Great job with the run. I'm glad you found Kelli and Wendy. I always used to run alone before my daughters started running. Now I would have a hard time running alone.

You're a really strong runner. I guess that's what all your "drug" use will do for you.
