Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Had a great run on the JRP in Lehi with Becca this morning...nice and early. YUCK! I knew she'd do a good job of keeping the pace fast for me. I would like to say it was easy, but it wasn't - okay, well honestly it wasn't that bad. I did talk while running, but I could definitely tell I was pushing myself a bit (which was what I was aiming for - THANKS Becca!)

After Becca left at mile 11, my goal was simply to not let my AP fall. Same effort, stay strong! I was actually able to pull it down 2 sec/mile from that point which made me even more happy. I could do it by myself too, I can push myself and not just 'la-la-la' through a long run. I want to be able to keep up more tempo miles during long runs and this one was a perfect start.

AP: 8:15 splits: 8:20, 8:09, 8:10, 8:41, 8:43 (those last 2 are nasty uphills!), 8:12, 8:05, 8:09, 8:14, 8:17, 8:22, 8:01, 8:01, 8:01 (wow...the three by myself were all the same? strange..)

I feel good this run, and didn't have any complaints from the ITB's. I could feel some tightening at mile 10-11 after we stopped for a second to grab a drink, but that was it. Maybe they are getting better?

Great job Rachel. You seem to be getting faster and faster every day.

Great job yesterday. Thank you for pushing up the hills. I think that your IT's are getting better (fingers crossed).

I only turned into a pumpkin once last night.

Thanks Nancy, but this pace today is all Becca's fault! :)

Bec, Thanks to YOU! I can push a little hill...but for 14 miles I need you! Was the pumpkin worth it? :)

Thanks Teena, I'm kind of happy that I'm 3 weeks out from the marathon and not just one. Nice to be back at it!

You are so dang cute. I have to say "thanks" for putting up with me early yesterday morning.

When I got back to my car I saw my boss and a group of ladies he was training for a 10k next week. I was proud that we had put in some really good miles before they had even started running.

Maybe we should do the 10 k next week, but I don't want to pay $35. Yes, I am el-cheap-o, but what do you expect? Anyway, I might integrate the 10k into my run next week if you are interested. The prizes are really good if we do register and there shouldn't be too many people doing it.

I hope that the ITB is getting better.

Great job on that long run and great splits. Your body must know that pace in order to keep it so steady on your own like you did.
