Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Hello Mr 8. It is SO nice to see you again :)

I still have more trouble running than I really think/remember I should, but the leg is getting better - slowly, but surely.

Met Sandra and a couple of her WJ running friends at the lake for a morning run. They just did 3 miles (one loop) of the lake, but I am trying to do 5/day this week (M-Th) and a long run to hit 30 this week as a build-up/recovery, so I went for 2 loops which ended up at 6.4, but I couldn't stop there - had to finish out 6.5.

The first loop was a comfortable warm-up @ 9:21 pace, a little faster than Sandra and I usually run, because I was running with one of her friends and she and the other friend did a walk/run behind us. We'd occasionally loop back to grab them. When they left I took note of the AP up to that point and made a goad to push it under 8 by the end of the next loop.

I started off strong, but quickly realized how horribly hard it was to run fast. I still feel like I'm running through mud. I was breathing like I was running a 5K pace! I just kept telling myself it's only one loop - c'mon girl, this is easy! There were lots of runners out and I was running scared trying not to get run down the first mile, but after he passed me I caught sight of a couple girls running in front of me and I made the goal to catch them. Thanks to them taking the wrong way and ending up on a dead end, I did finally catch them about 1/2 mile before the 'finish'. Gotta love when karma works with you!

AP: 8:46 (booyah! Pulled it down 35 seconds!) splits: 9:38, 9:12, 9:15; 8:37 (first .35 was with the ladies), 8:08, 8:15, 7:45 (love me a fast finish .5 miles).

Came home and caught a nap for about 45 minutes before loading up the stroller and older kids on bikes and heading to the church for Boot Camp. Holy Moly my arms better be tough as steel after that workout, because I don't think I will be able to wash my hair tomorrow with all the shoulders she did! Great workout!

Now to celebrate the first day of summer my children are doing a parade for the neighborhood. Complete with taffy to throw and everything. Don't ask...it was something they wanted to do for their summer vacation. I may have to take pictures :)

definitely take photos! Can't wait to see them. Are you going to run around them in circles while they parade around the hood?

I wish I was there; I would wear a tiara and wave enough for everyone.

7:45?!!! LOVE it!!! You have got to quit saying you have trouble running fast! AWESOME run and way to finish strong!

Have FUN celebrating 1st day of summer with the kids! You should bring them down to Lehi this Fri evening for the miniature parade. The Primary children dress up and ride the floats while the youth or bigger kids pull them! Or run the Roundup 5K then stay for the parade on Sat. Morning! The miniature floats will have the winning or award banners and there will be more larger floats participating! Lehi is the only city that have minture floats in their parade, all hand done by wards and families. This year's theme is *days when before there was battery* , fun fun fun!

QP, we don't have a princess for the parade yet, c'mon over :) I'm trying to be a good mom and let them make a list of things they wanted to do and then put it all on the calendar. Afterward we then made a list of chores they need to do to EARN those activities :)

Smooth, That actually sounds fun! I think I will try to come Friday. I've been invited to the 10K Saturday, but I think I may do a 14 miler up Butterfield from my house. It is still closed, but I don't know for how much longer - so I want to get it in!

Woohoo RE the pace. Solid workout again for you. I am still laughing about how you introduced me to Annette on Sat. This is Scott and he is crazy. :)

I agree with Smooth. You've got to quit saying that you're not fast, because you are plenty fast in my book.

From RAD on Tue, Jun 21, 2011 at 16:48:20 from 98.202.17.113

Scott, you do know that "crazy" is the highest compliment I pay to people, right? If not, it is :)

Carolyn, I think it's that I used to be able to effortlessly hit those paces, now it hurts to do so! I'm getting there though, I'm getting there. :)

Hope your arms don't hurt too much to shampoo your hair, you'll want to be looking good for your parade tomorrow. Remember to save some taffy for me.
