Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Hubby is out of town, a little good and a little bad. It is nice not having to rush home so he can get off to work and kids are off school, so I don't have to worry about them; however, I worry about my kids being home alone while I'm away biking and running. If something happened to me they'd be orphans! I worry a lot.

QoH (queen of the Hill) bike ride early this morning. I forget the "feels 10 degrees cooler on the bike" rule sometimes. I was cold. But, I got through it! Wasn't too bad once the sun came up. Did this one faster than I have in times past which feels good. I was at 16.8 mph. I really wanted to break 17, but we took a different way home and I couldn't power down the hill like I normally do, and I forgot to stop my watch a couple times on re-groups. Oh well, gives me something to shoot for next time! 21.3 miles up and over Camp Williams.

Came home and my feet were still numb and cold! Changed into running shoes and took off for an 8 mile loop. I'd decided to do the Pumpkin run route from my house, which is basically the trails in Herriman, HOMM ran them as well. (as a side note, someday I want to run the HOMM course - mile 16 is at my house, so I want to follow the signs weaving through all the trails to figure it out!) My feet were finally 95% back to normal when I stopped at the turn around for a drink...mile 4! It was cold.

Nice decent downhill to start (with a few rollers thrown in for good measure) and then a good uphill push home, and I added the cove loop on as well to push past 8 and ended up at 8.5 exactly with a nice downhill finish, excellent.

AP: 8:05 splits: 8:31, 7:40, 8:01, 7:43, 8:13, 8:41, 8:20, 7:33, 7:57 (last .5) I'm quite impressed with myself that 8:40 was my slowest mile, I really thought I'd be more in the 9's!

I might take the kids swimming this afternoon and do a few laps myself...we shall see.

You're such a triathlete!

I worry about orphaning Elliott and Eric, too. It's super unlikely, though, right?

From Steam8 on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 10:06:06 from

WOW...you are amazing! I wish I lived by you so that I could now hit the bike ride with you. I have only been out once on my bike and I wasn't suppose to and my knee hurt for two days after so I haven't done that again. I think I can start biking a little outside now that it has been 6 weeks, but I am calling the doc today just to make sure. Maybe I can come out and we could do some long bike rides if you wouldn't mind!

From Rachelle on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 10:22:44 from

You are seriously awesome! I was freezing running this morning so I can only imagine how cold it must have been biking.

Great start to the week Rachel.

That sounds like my day. Except the 21 mile bike, oh and the 8:05 pace. I was more just talking about the swimming:)

From RAD on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 11:59:46 from

Catherine, yes...very unlikely :) I think "this could happen anywhere you drive too!" but, it only bothers me when I'm biking and running. crazy.

Amy, I would do a long bike ride with you any day!!! Serious of all seriousness!!

Rachelle, yeah - it was cold! I had shorts on and no shoe covers or ear covers...brrr!!! I like running more, I'd rather get hot when exercising than cold!

Michelle, ha! yeah, it is time to swim baby!

From Nancy on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 12:26:30 from

Great job. What is the Queen of the Hills bike ride?

From RAD on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 12:33:35 from

Nancy, we meet at infinite cycle (13400S and Bangerter) then ride over Camp Williams and out to the intersection they refer to as 'the four corners' in Lehi/Saratoga. Great group of ladies! Meet at 5:30 and roll out at 5:40.

From catherine on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 12:45:35 from

That sounds like fun. The pace is about what you did this morning?

From RAD on Mon, Jun 11, 2012 at 22:39:34 from

Catherine, the pace I did was a little faster than most people. I try to keep up with the fast ladies having an easy ride in the front (like running a tempo while Kelli is in easy mode!), but there are lots behind and a few in front. A good group of women that will wait and be conducive to any speed.

Wow, what a workout!! Nice job. Both this post and today's post made me tired LOL :) I think I have mentioned this before, but can you clone yourself and come run up here?? I need a running group and I need you to be the head of it! :)
