Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Total Distance

I almost slept instead of running this morning...however I remembered how stinky I felt yesterday for sleeping in so after one snooze I got up and at 'em! Did my hill route up in High Country again today. Since I could use my Garmin I finished out a total of 7 miles and found out its almost 900 ft of elevation gain overall! I love the run, because when I first moved here I was so intimidated by the 'hill' just out of my neighborhood and thought "some day I'll run up there" and now I can do it! I tried to just take it easy and not push too much after my workout yesterday and knowing that BBK's are doing hills tomorrow. Kind of have to push hills, or you walk - but I wasn't trying to kill myself. I thought the pace would be a little slower, but my AP ended up at 8:46. Splits: 9:29, 9:03, 9:45, 8:08, 8:01, 8:29, 8:25 -can you tell the downhills? :)

Came home and had some yummy Lehi roller mills whole grain pancackes (my new indulgence!) with strawberries from my garden! YEA for summer, even though I'm still cold! Hit the gym for kick-boxing, ITB stuff and ab's class. Spent the last 10 minutes over nursery time to stretch...I needed it SO bad after yesterday and today!! Now, to tackle the laundry....

AWESOME HILL RUN and splits. What a great all around workout day. Love your positive attitudes. I'm tackling the laundry too.

Don't tell me you can run up hills! You did great, especially when you started with the uphill. I started with the downhill today and got all nice and warmed up before I tackled the uphill.

From RAD on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 14:58:26 from

Smooth, Thanks lady! My wish is to someday have the laundry finished!

Carolyn, I can run up them, but as opposed to your splits my downhills are VERY obvious!! a whole min+ faster pace. One time on my graph I hit 12 mm on one of the last hills. And I like to do uphill first and finish down...my brain doesn't like hard work at the end :)

Hope we can plan anoter JR Trail tailgate party run sometime this Summer when we all have 17-22 to do again! Are you doing St. George?

mmmmm, those pancakes sound fabulous.

Great run

From Cal on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 15:54:24 from

Is your route up Rose Canyon Road up to the end (where the dirt trails start)?

That's a great run.

From Leandra on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 15:56:20 from

By the way, where does the group you run with meet? I really need to find people to run with I think if I'm gonna keep motivated.

From RAD on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 16:02:42 from

Luzy, That would be fabulous! But we should set the mileage :) I didn't get into St George...didn't put in either though :)

Leandra, the pancakes really are yummy - but isn't everything with whipcream and strawberries??? I run with Kelli's group of BBKers. We usually meet somewhere in the South Jordan area at 5:30 for extra miles 6:00 for main workout. If you want to come LMK and I can PM you contact info!

Cal, I run from my house (on Blayde behind the school) up to 7300W, down to Bacchus, up through the High Country North Gate and then do 2 loops that take me almost to the top of the neighborhood, then back home. I like Rose Canyon too, but when I go with my dog and other random times I get frightened of all the traffic on the road.

Thanks for the info, I don't know why I was thinking you all were in orem/provo area. That's where I'm at, I'll have to look and see if I can find anyone around here.

From RAD on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 16:16:30 from

Sometimes I feel like I'm driving from Orem! Maybe you'll have to join us sometime in the summer (when you don't need sleep :) ) you can come joins us a couple times! We'd love to have you!!!

You make running sound so easy.

From Bec on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 23:23:46 from

Great workout today. You are tackling those hills head on.

From RAD on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 00:23:51 from

Nancy, thanks...I sure don't think I make it LOOK easy as I plod up those hills :)

Bec, I have to start tackling them sometime...I've got one of the hilliest legs of WBR - I think it may kill me!!
