Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I always have to talk myself into the Mexican Mountain Goat workout for a couple weeks. So, we finally got it going since I've been inside and avoiding all the daily hills outside.

Did a 10 min warm-up @ 8:34, and forgot to slow it down for the first incline, but at least it was only 2% and it wasn't too bad.

The rest of the Mexican Mtn Goat was at 8:57 pace. 2 min at 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 1 min at 7%, 8%, 9% with a one minute 'flat' (0%) between each. Then I needed a 2 min 0% break after the 9% to get ready for the way down. Reversed the order and finished up at 5.8 miles. The last .2 miles I went downhill at a 6:58 (-2%); man, that seemed SO effortless!! TT: 53:10 AP: 8:52.

Masters swim class afterward. I love to jump in the pool after a hard workout. We did a lot of pulls and I hit my descending times like I should have. Almost finished it all, but had to jet off to get my little guys out of the day care.

Fabulous morning! Only, I might get stuck outside soon :( Baby Fartlek was NOT being nice and even had a report written up on him bitting, pulling hair and pinching. Stink. This is the first time he's ever done anything so crazy. I hope he doesn't get kicked out of the daycare - it's cold out there :)

Great treadmill workout! I'll have to try that sometime. You are always so fast on the treadmill. I run much faster on ground than the treadmill for some reason, I think I get nervous with a moving belt under me so I don't run at my best. But that hill thing would be a good workout no matter what. And yes, it would be so fun to jump into the pool! I wish my gym had a swimming class like that! Great job on your workouts!!

Devine Miss M - 100 commando points for the Mex - sweet swim afterward. You know, you will sign up for an IM some day, you will. Hey, what is it with kids biting? My grandson done the same thing when he was jealous of his litte brother, my granddaughter bit me. Good thing, they don't keep that behavior long.

Brooke, I don't know why I seem to do better on the TM now, it used to be the opposite.

Brent, IM huh...maybe a few years off :) I guess I can't really be too upset about the biting - I was a biter :( Just thought I'd gotten out of having any kids with that issue.

I'll have to keep this workout in mind when the weather gets to me and I do a treadmill run. Although I wish I had access to a treadmill that goes downhill!

Andrea, downhill TM's are the best :) All in the name of training mind you - it has nothing to do with being able to aid in running faster than the guy next to you, nope not at all :) Oh, and the workout is the bomb. Seriously awesome!

Baby FARTLEK!!! He knows better than to pull and to be written up. I bet there was a reason for it... Sounds too out of the ordinary.

Great workout! I love that you did the MMGW!!! I have been doing it weekly (not this week due to taper). I like it. I think the hardest part is 6%, the second time. Going from one minute to two, just about kills me.

You have been working hard in the pool, I am impressed.
