Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I have found the devil...and it's name is Cheesecake Factory!

We went there for dinner last night and it was so yummy!! Lots to choose from and even more to glutton myself with. Little did I know this would come back to haunt me. I'm usually pretty good about consuming mass quantities of food and not having it effect me. Not this time.

Actually went to bed at 10, so I got almost 7 hours of sleep which seems dreamy compared to what I have been getting. Went to the gym and snuck on the TM next to Kelli. I'm so glad I can always count on her to be there to keep my mind off the dumb TM!

2 miles - 8:34 @ 1% then I jumped off to get a spin pass. The whole time I felt like I was going to puke. Dinner is just sitting in my gut like a big greasy mass of yuck! I thought the break would make it better...nope.

2.5 miles @ 8:34 with a pick up at the end and after 1 mile I took it down to flat, had to find a way to make it easier. I was struggling with the food bouncing in my gut.

Spin class - we had a sub, but it was a pretty good class. Still wanted to puke.

1.5 miles on the track. I did 1/4 mile warm-up, timed my mile (7:55) then did 1/4 mile cool down. I got the miles in...now I'm done. Still no puking, but I don't think I'm going to feel like eating today. Stomach is still on overdrive from too much food - or too rich, one or the other.

I can't wait to go back to Cheesecake Factory :)

Nice workout, even with the tummy full of food. I know that feeling all too well. A couple of years ago, I'd wait to do my long runs after eating a huge dinner of mexican food. I figured if I could do my long runs feeling that miserable, then races would feel like a piece of cake. lol.

RAD- funny how even though it makes you miserable, you can't wait to go back for more. That's a sign of a really good establishment! Good job working through the greasy gut run!!

My "current" devil are those darn Reese's Pieces eggs and Starburst Jelly Beans. Curse YOU Easter candy!

Nicely done Rachel! No more pukes!

I hate that feeling!! I remember reading something someplace about having to be super careful at that restaurant. Some of there pasta dishes have more saturated fat than two big macs. Seriously, crazy! But you are a workout machine and can work through that in no time! Glad you had a good time last night! :-)

I meant "their" not "there." :-)

Dale, oh man - mexican food? yeah, that would make a long run VERY painful!

QP, we shall have to go there while you are here this summer. I will exercise more caution then!

Toby, I've been good about not buying candy, but maybe it makes it just that much worse when I DO go out! Still haven't eaten yet today...not quite settled in the gut yet.

Teena, I certainly wouldn't be surprised! I thought I went with a safe choice - chicken and shrimp curry. I guess they must've dumped a whole vat of heavy cream in with the brown rice and veggies though! Then, I just couldn't leave without a slice of cheesecake! I even just had a light salad for an appetizer. I'm blaming the vat of cream :) They do have a 'skinnylicious' menu where all entrees/appetizers etc are under 500 calories (or so..) You just have to be good when you go and not eat the entire thing!

mmmmm.... cheesecake!! I always just order cheesecake when I go there cause I hate being too full after dinner to eat it!

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 14:49:42 from 75.162.88.4

I'm glad you had a wonderful anniversary dinner! Cheesecake factory hangover doesn't sound fun! But good thing you are a workout machine and can do all that without puking! I'd say you got your money's worth! GOOD JOB! Can't wait to see you on Sat.! :)

From Steam8 on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 15:37:35 from 166.70.55.77

Isn't it the best?!!! I love going to Cheesecake! I love their Thai Lettuce Wraps. Actually, I love just about everything they serve. I always order something healthy and then eat half of my husbands dinner! ha! It does help give you a little extra for the next days run! I con't know how you run and do a spin class. Nice work!

From Lily on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 19:35:10 from 67.199.178.210

haha. You are cracking me up. This was too funny. I mean, not funny you felt sick. Funny that you're so amped on going back! I say us FRB girls meet there for dinner sometime. We can all get that rumbley gut feeling together and hold a half marathon the next morning.

From RAD on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 20:50:41 from 98.202.23.178

Carina, that is what I should've done! except I think I liked dinner better :)

Smooth, We certainly did get our money's worth - THAT is for sure! Neither one of us ate dinner tonight. The kids had leftovers from the last few meals that haven't been eaten. Oh, and I'd better see you FRIDAY! :) What time are you leaving here?

Amy, I wanted to get the thai lettuce wraps, but my hubby wanted a different appetizer so I just got the endive salad to go with his deep fried something or another!

Lily, Oh, I say we go for it! Who can run the best with a greasy gut! I'm in! :)

I like that devil too! Thank goodness there is nowhere delicious to eat in Del Rio. I am not lying, the best is IHOP.

I like your workout. I wish you could have heard the running lecture I heard today, very fascinating information that I have read a million times. I got to witness it all. I think I am converted to Newtons.

From RAD on Thu, Mar 15, 2012 at 14:23:47 from 98.202.23.178

Becca, maybe we should do a good 20 miler and then go to Cheesecake Factory :) You'll have to remember all of the lecture and give it back to me on our run!
