Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I'm getting lazy...always tired. I think I need to be better about taking my multi-vitamins and iron!

Slept in, but knew I could go to the gym (even though I wanted to put baby in a bubble when I dropped him off due to yesterday's craziness!). So, off to the TM I went. My goal was to finish 7 miles in 60 min. I now know my legs will handle the speed, so they better take it and stop complaining!!

I started at 8:57 pace for the first 1.3 and was surprised how easy my breathing was, that hasn't happened for a while. So, I upped it to 8:41 and stayed there for the next few. I don't remember when I increased it again, but went progressive and for mile 6 I kept it 8:12 or less the entire mile. Impressive for me lately - especially with a gentle incline. Mile 7 I decided I needed to go a little downhill, since I'd been going up for 6 miles it was only fair, right? :) I had 8:00 exactly left to finish the mile and so I went to 7:30 and just pushed through the last bit. As usual, I started just wanting it done so I increased the speed a little at a time and finished the last .15 at 6:58.

I felt SO good when I finished and even had 40 seconds left to hit an hour. Legs are still tired, but my breathing and HR felt under control which hasn't been the case in quite some time. AP for the entire seven: 8:30.

Finished up with my PT/core work and tried out Allie/Bonnie's heel/toe walking and I too think I'm going to add it to the regular routine. I really feel my 'shin splint' muscles working and I think it will help them in the future. Stretched the last 15 minutes and picked up kids - no maulings today.

I did talk to a lady there that I feel really comfortable with that had even asked what  happened to Adam when she saw him. She filled out an incident report and it sounds like Adam's situation may be getting to the ears of management quickly. I just want to know he'll be safe and supervised when I drop him off.

Man, poor baby fartlek! How in the world could these things happen? I am glad an incident report was filled out! Someone needs to do something about it!

Sounds like your legs are listening to you now. Good time for a 7 mile run.

Glad you were able to talk to someone about the scratching incident yesterday.

Get some caffeine in ya :)

That incident you had is scary. I hope they get their issues resolved.

That's so scary about baby Fartlek. I'm taking Elliott to the child care at the gym for the first time on Saturday, and now I'm super nervous! I'm glad you made a report.
