Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I'm a little ticked off right now...you know all the 'tools' you usually have above where you enter your comments? I can't see them. They won't even load on the entries I have previously done. Grrr. Anyway, because of that, you don't get my cute quote for today. Sorry, not my fault!

Had to run early and outside again today. My niece came over at 8:45, so I had to be done by then. Well, I cheated a little.

Warm-up mile down and back on the TM street.

ran the Stake 5K route, tried to pick up the uphills. I was determined to go sub 8 all miles. We have our 'race' Saturday. Gotta get my legs used to the course again.

When I got home (8:40) I found out she'd be a few minutes late. Perfect. A cool down mile on the TM street again. Hmmm...plenty of time for one more lap.

Then I came to a screeching halt! My neighbor drove by, taking her son to pre-school. Awww, crap! I was so worried about babysitting I forgot my 4 year old had pre-school (others are off-track, so it throws our whole routine off). Ran home and got him ready to go and out the door in 20 minutes. Whew, only 15 min late :)

My niece came during that time and brought dunford donuts with her...ummm, yeah. NOT a good thing for me. Do you know the mental strength it will take for me NOT to eat those ALL day!! One donut to undo all the calories I burnt on my run today. C'mon...strength, I've got it!

So, I was at 5.23 miles and after pre-school drop off, I ran on the TM street to finish up to my normal 6 miles. Just a good clop.

Came home and busted out Jillian's shred. Nice L2 workout. I think it is my favorite. Best balance of arms and legs, and I like the cardio portions too.

Is it too early for a nap?

AP: 7:53 splits: 8:18 (warm up), 7:39, 7:14, 7:52 (3 miles of the 5K. Middle mile is all downhill. The last mile is mostly my hill of despair. Look at me conquer that beast - sub 8 baby!), 8:14, 8:02

Whoa!! Look at you go Rachel. Awesome job at reaching your goal. And yes you most definitely deserve a nap. :)

WOW!!! Look at those sub-8 miles!!! Your warm up mile pace is my 5K pace! :) :) :)

I am tired just reading your dashing around before your niece get there and the pre-school pick up and you still busted out a Jillian shred. All that before most people get up! :) :) :) Please please please go take a LONG nap. It will make me feel less of a slacker! :)

AWESOME JOB, Rach!

Rachelle, I'm just deciding that I need to do this. If I want to run faster...then, I need to practice running faster. Not just expecting it to come out on race day. What I'm really liking is that the low 8's are starting to feel more and more comfortable. I can and will do this!

Smooth, gotta start getting my butt in gear. No more slacking off. Goal is less miles, but more speed. Oh, and slacker?...YOU? Ummm, I don't think so! You couldn't be a slacker if you tried! 500 marathons a year and top it off with a 50 3 weeks after your fastest full of the season. Yeah, definitely NOT a slacker!

I love dunford donuts but they are lethal. Damn.

I like Lily's comment.

Great pace RAD.

Lily, I did good. Only had a leftover bite from what baby didn't eat! But, I was craving them all day. They are gone now.

Becca, thanks. been a long time coming, I just need to keep this up.

Cal, thanks, we gotta keep moving, right?

You WILL run faster on race day if you practice running faster. Make your fast days faster, and your easy days easier. Simplest recipe for getting faster!

I think Sasha took away all the editing options so we would all have to learn HTML coding :-)

Dunfords are my fav. Love 'em. They only have 500 cals each though, so no worries at all. Eat up!

Nice run and lots of running around with kids. I couldn't resist the donuts either.
