Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I'm sick and tired of coughing so much! I wake up in coughing fits at night and am not really getting a decent amount of sleep, which is paramount for me this week being the BIG mileage week for Ogden. Poo!

Got up early to join Chad and George for our classic 10 mile loop. I really would like to run WITH them sometime. I haven't had a good pace on this loop for a long time. I know neither of them ran yesterday and they aren't sick, but my ego keeps taking a hit that I can't keep up. After I let them go I had a coughing fit at the corner of the lake and after losing a lung or two I actually felt okay and picked up my last mile, but not intentionally until the last quarter. Felt good to finally open things up and not feel the drag.

Working in the yard yesterday for 4.5 hours (up, down, rake, mow, pull, up, down, rake, dig, dig, dig, weed, up, down, rake, spray) was NOT the best idea. Sunburned and my glutes and quads and feet are lovin' me today. But, how else does it get done? I've got another full day on Wednesday too...

AP: 8:54 splits: 8:58, 9:13, 8:55, 9:02, 9:32 (a huge microburst wind threw a cloud of dust at us just as we went up the 'big' hill on the route - took any wind in my sails right out and I crawled to the top), 9:10, 8:42, 8:26, 8:44, 8:13

Went home and slept for 30 minutes before getting kids out the door.

Spin Class - holy hannah that lady doesn't know the definition of recovery! :) usually I love it, but not today (yes, I'm whining!)

Baby swim class with Adam. He loves it! Except that I had him stand by the pool while I hopped in today and he decided to hop in himself! I screamed and grabbed my sinking baby. I thought we'd passed off "wait until mom is ready" - guess it needs a little review. Thanks for the heart attack son! I hadn't gotten enough adrenaline from my morning workout.

You must be feeling pretty good after the half to be exercising so much! :)

Hope you start feeling better soon.

Sounds like Adam wanted to "race" you to the pool...and he won :)

Way to go getting a marathon of yardwork done. Maybe your body is needing a little extra rest to get over this cold/ cough thing. Listen to your body.

Reading about your marathon workout makes me tired and crave another cookie. Sheesh lady you are a maniac! In a good way. :):)

nice job with all the running and all the yard work. let me know if you are ever interested in sharing your endless vat of energy with me.

i am intrigued by the name of your shoes...

Wowzer Rachel....you're no fooling about this marathon stuff! THAT is the reason why you are so stinkin' fast. I was doing yard work today, but my raspberry bushes hacked up my arms. Not pretty!

A sinking baby is a little more scary than my skunk. Glad everything is OK. And a great workout by the way.

Andrea, not feeling good...I'm just dumb :)

bye-wing, will do! I don't think Adam will race me to the pool anymore :)

Rachelle, I think a cookie is exactly what I need!

Allie, if you'd like to come over you can see the mess of a yard and house...it is what gives me all that energy! :) oh, and you are the first to ask about my shoe name. When I got my 2 pairs of shoes on sale they were both the same purple/lime green color, so I decided since I was ready to race with them I would call them my "one eyed one horned flying purple people eaters!" Since I'd be making roadkill of people at SGM. Well, the trick was on me. So, for my 2nd pair I had to divulge from the OEOHFPPE name, thus purple people runners.

Toby, who needs pretty arms when you run? :) The raspberries you grow are SO worth it! I can taste them now...

Chad, at least the sinking baby moment was over shortly! That skunk will stay with you for a while :)
