Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Legs still not super happy, but enough that I knew a good run would do me good. So, off to the TM I went. Yes, there is NO way I was running in snow today. It was only rain when I left home at 8:40, but by the time I got on the TM at the gym, there was a nice snow storm out there.

4 miles; 1st mile @ 8:34, next mile up to .5% incline, next mile up to 8:27 pace and increase incline to 1%, then last mile 7:53 pace flat and progressive last 1/4 mile. TT: 33:44, AP: 8:26

Arms circuit. 3 sets of rows, biceps, triceps, bench press, overhead raises, shoulders.

Back to the TM for 4 more. I was tired. Kelli had decided to run on the TM so I wanted to get through the weights so I would have company on my run, which was good, I just never got a rest.

2 miles @ 8:34, 1@ 8:27, last one at 7:53 with a progressive finish the last 1/4 mile to a 7:30 pace. TT: 33:35 (9 sec faster!), AP: 8:23

Then 3 sets of planks with Kelli to top it all off 60/60/60 - no push-ups between sets, my arms were tired. Legs felt better afterward. I can do downstairs without hanging on the railing, so I see this as a good improvement.

Just signed up for Ogden full....but, now I want to squeeze in UVM and just do the slam again. How dumb am I? A glutton for punishment. Somebody stop me before it is too late!

Snow????? What??? It's 80 here. Race Ogden, joy ride for UVM. That's my advice.

Nice TM work. I still need to get my b-hind to the gym. I want

Way to get it done Rachel. You are really addicted to Marathons. You might as well do the grand slam again.

You are INSANE!!!! But I've only run 1 marathon and the thought of doing that many in such a short time frame makes me sick :) Nice workout today!

You could do it easy breezy!

Devine, rum em, no regrets, like Bec advice. Treat UVM as a training run? Which is the faster course, have not UVM

So many marathons! I'm excited to see how you do next year. Good job today!

What about the Squaw Peak 50?

As long as you make sure you're giving yourself time to recover from all the punishment, then enjoy the races.

Becca, yes - dumb, stupid, snow! didn't stick (well a skiff maybe) but snow all the same. Saturday will be the big storm :( I need to come visit you!

Nancy, I do really like them!

Toby, trust me - that marathon bug jumps up and bites you when you least expect it!

Merri, I just swore this last year I wouldn't do it again after Ogden and UVM zapped me to death. Darn it, why don't you people give into me?!?

Brent, I'm not sure which is faster. I think they are probably 6's honestly. Good and bad on both sides. I just love Ogden and with it coming earlier in the season I think I'd like to try to hit it as the goal race rather than wait until UVM.

Catherine, well, I had high hopes this last year and those all got shot to heck, so I guess I'll try to keep things more reasonable this year :)

Chad, HA! surely you jest!?! I don't think I'm up to that caliber quite yet. Let me get a BQ under my belt, then we can talk :)

QP, you're supposed to STOP me...not encourage me! :)

You are doing so well! I see that we ran the same mileage today...except for the fact that I was 2 minutes+ slower per mile hahaha. :) Way to keep at it even though you didn't want to do it. I swear that's when the legs get stronger. :) Congrats on signing up for Ogden. You'll be great!
