Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Met the pirate out at the lake for a couple freezing, early morning loops. It turned out to be a beautiful sunrise that warranted stopping to take pictures. Mother nature created a beautiful send-off! Now that I've gotten up early 2 days in a row I'm wondering if I should try it again tomorrow or be lazy and sleep in....

Then I hit the gym while my spoiled daughter got to go to Kneaders all you can eat French Toast breakfast! I crashed Kelli's workout group and it ended up being a VERY good workout.

The rest of the day was filled with fun and family!! I'm gonna miss this....

Trying to reach 1,000? You will make it, even if it kills you.

From Bec on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 00:55:41 from 71.199.12.198

Kneaders... mmmmm...:) After a Saturday long run we should plan to go there and treat your kids!!! That would be really fun.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 00:56:38 from 75.162.89.170

Oh man, Kneaders french toast... ummm so good! I'm starving over here and that didn't help. Ha.

I have to start getting some long runs in after Painter's for my March marathon. I will need you my friend for motivation.

Sorry for posting so many times... I am bored!

From RAD on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 01:03:32 from 67.172.229.125

Becca, I think you are right! :) Only 6/day will get me there...

Oh WE should go to Kneaders, the kids always get the good stuff.

Scott, sorry...no more talk of kneaders. We will move on to Iceberg shakes :)

Becca, I'm in! I want to go for a PR at SLC 1/2, so I will need some extra speed and endurance. Post on...helps my popularity :)

From Bec on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 01:16:08 from 71.199.12.198

SLC 1/2? Let's PR you! I am imaging you have some excellent goals for the upcoming year concerning running events. I would like to take part in those goals and feed off of your energy.

I am thinking I will do that 1/2 as well, or EVEN the marathon. I would like to add more marathons to the resume.

As for blogging and making you more popular... I will try a little harder.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 01:21:16 from 75.162.89.170

Oh man, I have been craving Coldstone or a Chik-Fil-A shake all night. I had some minor dental surgery today and I can't chew very well. Starving!! I haven't had an Iceberg shake but they must be good.

From Bec on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 01:24:10 from 71.199.12.198

Very good. Dental work? Sounds like the perfect excuse for a milkshake to me. Ha! That is why you are on Lortab!

I just checked my freezer for ice cream and nearly had a frozen pork roast take out my big toe. No ice cream :(

I'm rambling :)

Rad are you still with us?

From Bec on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 01:38:16 from 71.199.12.198

:) I am dying of laughter. Maybe you should go run or something Scott.

From Chad on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 10:58:46 from 168.177.153.5

I want to see some of those pictures you took.

Are there any races you aren't running?

From KP on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 11:05:33 from 65.208.22.25

the pirate as in QP?!?!? is she home to get some yummy ice cream from mom?

From Burt on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 11:29:08 from 206.19.214.144

They closed down the Iceberg here in Mesa :(

From Chad on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:30:48 from 168.177.153.5

Hey Burt, you may not have an Iceberg, but do you still have those yummy Carne Asada burritos at Filibertos? I miss those things.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:36:46 from 206.19.214.144

Yes! I had three Filiberto tacos yesterday and a large horchata!

From Chad on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:41:21 from 168.177.153.5

yum

From Chad on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:44:23 from 168.177.153.5

The marinated steak, onions, cilantro, guacamole, and that runny hot sauce. It's been too long.

From Bec on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 14:16:37 from 71.199.12.198

The comments on your blog are now out of control Rachel.

From allie on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 17:00:15 from 174.23.238.75

one time, long ago, i ordered a peanut butter shake from iceburg. i think they forgot the ice cream, because it tasted like i was eating a cup of peanut butter. i was at a birthday party and felt obligated to finish it, even though it was clogging my throat and making it difficult to breathe. at one point i tried to fling the mixture into the bushes, but some brat went and told on me. the mother in charge came over and stood next to me, with folded arms and evil eyes, and told me we were not leaving until i finished my shake. my mouth became more and more coated with every bite, and my clogged throat left me gasping for air. tears were streaming down my face as the mother and the rest of my friends watched and laughed. it's true. it's all true.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 17:04:05 from 206.19.214.144

That's the saddest story I've ever heard allie. You better get you some Filiberto's to make you feel better. Bec is buying.

From KP on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 17:04:12 from 65.208.22.25

allie, how old were you? was this your annual christmas pb shake last week?

From Nancy on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 17:57:29 from 76.27.19.206

Wow all this talk about shakes and mexican food is making me hungry. We should all go for a run and then meet for some ice cream and tacos. Great run Rachel. I hope you had fun with your sister here.

From RAD on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 19:31:23 from 67.172.229.125

I need to get on the computer more often! Some days I sit here and sit here and no one comments, but I leave and have a couple busy days and I miss it all!

So, Sorry Scott...went to bed. But I can't believe you didn't get a shake! Next time call me and I'll personally deliver one - a PB one, and I WILL make sure you eat it all and don't fling it in the bushes!

KP, no ice cream this time...it was Mac and Cheese. I knew better and went to Subway first. QP had to suffer! :) However, I did save her from extreme duress the entire flight home by making spaghetti instead of having mom fix it.

Chad, SLC 1/2 is an anniversary race for me. It was my first 1/2 marathon, so I like to run it each year. Same with DesNews 10K, sometime I'll tell you the story of how QP tricked me into running the 10K 'with' her and how it got me into running. I'll traditionally do those and I'm doing the Grand Slam this year and the SG runners series. I think that will officially break my budget for running for the next 5 years. QP has the pictures, you'll have to wait for her :(

Burt, they must've closed the iceberg because of all the 'waste' they found in the bushes. Such a shame! However, I may need to come run one of your 'free' races and try this Fillberto's you speak of!

Allie, I told you that you didn't HAVE to finish it. But that if you didn't I wouldn't invite you to Lauren's party again. It was YOUR choice, maybe next time you'll choose a better flavor! :)

(seriously though, that IS the saddest story I've ever heard! NOW I know why you don't like ice cream, you've been scarred. We may need to find a way to go through regression therapy to help you through this problem!)

Nancy, me too! This should be the plan for my next group run. We could run from AZ to UT and eat along the way. :)

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 01:00:20 from 75.162.89.170

Oh my allie that is child abuse. That mother in charge needs to be slapped with a plastic dog.

Ummm Rad, a shake sounds really good about now. I would hold you to that delivery if the roads weren't atrocious.

From RAD on Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 01:29:47 from 67.172.229.125

Oh, sorry Scott - I'm asleep. Maybe next time :)
