Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

My stupid shins were yelling at me again this morning. I've honestly felt not a twinge since Saturday, I guess a couple days of slacking on the stretching and rolling is paying it's consequences. Or, maybe they just don't like this loop! It was the same one last week they were nasty on.

Sore calves, gale force winds and attempting the 'conquer the hill of death' route made for a nice slow recovery run this morning :)

AP: 9:23 splits: 9:21, 9:13, 10:04, 9:30, 8:54, 8:45 (last .15) The uphill is from miles 1.5-3.5, coupled with the headwind I was pushing what I could up that hill of death, but dang it all for getting a 10+ mm!!!

Well, off to boot camp and then some elliptical reading time, since this will top out my miles for the week with tomorrows HBK run and Saturday's long run. I'm really trying to keep my miles on a slow steady increase so as to avoid injury.

you are getting in a lot of miles! i can't believe you had a baby 1 month ago!

From RAD on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 10:29:45 from 67.172.229.125

KP, the marathon is looming...and the baby is sleeping, so I run :) What else can you do at 6:30 in the morning?

From Teena Marie on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 10:33:44 from 174.52.45.85

Very cool that you have a HBK group now!!! :)

Take care of those shins. Do you think it is shinsplints or something else? You might want to try some pinpoint pain taping.

You amaze me!

You have a HBK group now?!!! COOL!!!

Hmmm, may be I need a LBK. Let's see, there's JonA, Staci, Bec, and bunch of Lehi FRB folks that I haven't met!

Sorry the shin didn't like that route. You are an incredible runner. I don't know how you do it with a new baby and all!

From RAD on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 14:13:39 from 67.172.229.125

Teena, there really is no group, we just talk about being dissenters all the time :) Cal and I are going to run up yellow fork canyon and I think Kelli may come with us as well. So, not sure you can really call it a 'group' :) Oh, and yes they are shin splints. I get them all the time but have been particularly plagued lately. I thought they were gone, but I guess I was wrong. I will tape them occasionally, but only when its really bad.

Smooth, your LBK group would be SPEED-Y!! Thanks for you encouragement, not feeling too incredible just plugging away trying to get it back.

From Calvin on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 15:36:43 from 66.133.117.3

That really was a stiff headwind this morning. Good running.

Take of those shins.

From Nancy on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 16:18:05 from 76.27.19.206

Sorry about the shins. Are you starting a new running group in Herriman? I'm sure it would be closer for you but it would be nice to see you sometimes although I would just be seeing you before we start and after we finish.

From RAD on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 23:36:30 from 67.172.229.125

Cal, it sure was! I honestly wasn't expecting it either. Hope it settles down tomorrow or you'll have to run double miles circling back for me :)

Nancy, No we're not, Cal lives just down the street from me and Kelli was looking for someone to run with. We kid around about being dissenters from BBK's and so we'll start the Herriman Butt Kickers :) But, we're too lazy and would rather drive out there and like you guys too much to do anything for real :)
