Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Oh, so tired. I need to get out of the endless loop of staying up late, taking a nap then not being ready to go to bed early. This is ridiculous! Legs still a little heavy and fatigued, but I figured if I was going to do it, I was going to just do it.

TM - 10 minutes warm-up @ 8:34

1 min on/ 1 min off - 6:11/9:31 (9.7/6.3 this is 1/10 faster than last week!) X20

1/2 mile cool down to reach 7 miles. Started at 8:34 then went progressive every tenth until 6.95 then tried 10mph to the end. Whew!

I was spent. Half way through I was done, but again figured I needed to just suck it up and get it done. I was happy that I stayed determined when I was done. I also need to remember to eat food beforehand when I'm doing a hard workout like this.

TT: 54:07 AP: 7:44

Then went to the pool for masters swim class. It really is nice to swim after a hard run. Nice, peaceful rhythm and no pounding. Ahhhh. Now if I just didn't have to do any of the sprints :) We finished off class with a timed 200 and I improved my time by 16 seconds. Down to a 3:45, not too shabby. Especially when I feel like a lazy turd like I do today!

You are such a lazy turd! You never workout or run any miles :) That sleep cycle is tricky...My mid-days naps always mess me up. But if I don't take them, then I feel like a zombie. So tricky! That is why I drink Cherry Coke :)

From Tom Slick on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 14:50:55 from 168.179.157.25

Quit being so hard on yourself and start making excuses to succeed!!!!!!

From RAD on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 15:08:13 from 98.202.23.178

Toby, I think it's just the heavy legs thing hanging around from Saturday mixed with the sleep cycle. I just want to wake up feeling refreshed. Can't wait for Sunday!!!

Slick, got it. That is why I kept going, no time like the present to just make it happen.

From Carina on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 15:40:06 from 204.15.86.83

What a killer workout, way to go. And you are not lazy in any way!!

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 16:13:17 from 205.158.160.209

Boys club is running the Grandeur Peak loop tomorrow early. You should join if you can. 11 miles. We will be done by 7:30.

From Steam8 on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 20:43:20 from 166.70.55.77

Grandeur Peak is beautiful...you should do it!

I felt like a lazy turd today too...only, I didn't run 7 miles and swim! I couldn't sleep last night either and I REALLY wanted a nap today! I am hoping I sleep tonight. I hate it when you get in that cycle. It happens when you have little ones though! NICE workout for a lazy turd!

From Andrea on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 21:32:34 from 67.177.21.60

Great workout - that 1 min on, 1 min off really gets the legs used to running fast and boosts your metabolism. I like it a lot! And a swim after all that - I would not put you in the lazy category :)

Go to bed early!!

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 21:49:09 from 71.219.91.103

Best work out ever. It has become really popular on the blog, huh??? Great speeds, too. Glad you are PUSHING yourself. I knew you could be that fast (if not, faster!!!)

I wish I liked water, swimming does sound nice and peaceful. But, I HATE it.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 22:49:17 from 75.162.83.50

AWESOME runs and workout yesterday and today! If you're a lazy turd; then I must be master slacker! :)

Hey, I signed up for Ogden full too. I am really hoping that I will be able to run UVM too. Prez. said I should wait.

You're running so well. GREAT JOB on the on/off TM workout. I did those quite a bit last winter. I will wait when the weather gets really really bad before getting on the TM...gotta take advantage of every single good weather day. Hope you get some normal sleep tonight.

From RAD on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 23:03:30 from 98.202.23.178

Carina, I just FEEL lazy. When all I want to do is sleep, but have a pile of laundry and dishes I wonder why I run and swim and exhaust myself so I come home and just sit around all afternoon :) Maybe because I like running and swimming more than laundry and dishes!

Scott, oh how I need to do it! What time are you starting 3AM? I think it would take me that long...

Steam, thanks. Glad you can sympathize with the lazy turd feeling :) Maybe it's not so much in my workout that I feel lazy, but in the rest of life! Oh, and I do love Grandeur so!!!

Andrea, bed early is in the plan. It is 9:00 and I haven't hit my 2nd wind like normal yet - so this is good. Now, I just need my plumber expert husband to fix the bathtub faucet my 1 year old somehow managed to break today and turn the water back on so that I can get ready for bed. Might have to go pee at the neighbors, teeth and face washing can wait till the morning :)

Kelli, if my legs weren't killer dead from Saturday I might have tried 9.8, but 9.7 was good today. I really would like to try 10, but I'd have to go to 6 or less on the offs to do that I think. I hated swimming at first too, well the whole chloriney feeling afterward and showering, cold, blah, blah, blah, but I'm getting better about it. Progress :)

Smooth, thanks. I'm hoping for good sleep - seriously good sleep! I'm such a pansy with the cold and coupled with not getting up early lately the TM is becoming my new bff! :) I need to get outside!!

From Burt on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 23:39:40 from 72.223.91.148

Why did Scott invite you to the Boy's Club? Are you a boy? I may have to rethink this whole being straight thing.

From RAD on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 23:46:30 from 98.202.23.178

Burt, it's only because I always beg him to let me come to the boys club, because I want to be cool like them. Remember, I have TWO sisters and NO brothers, but am stuck raising 3 crazy boys. So, I need to learn how to be apart of the cool boys club and do neat stuff like climb mountains in the dark and the snow and not whine about it to my mom, uh I mean the blog :)

From Bec on Thu, Nov 03, 2011 at 10:56:39 from 68.206.133.141

Yep, you are lazy... That workout is just plain lazy.

I want to do that sometime on the TM. How in the world do you not loose track of how many times you knock the speed up? I want to know what other TM runners are thinking when they run next to you... "Who is this crazy, lazy, lady that can't make up her mind up about the speed on the TM?"

From RAD on Thu, Nov 03, 2011 at 15:19:45 from 98.202.23.178

Becca, I know! :) I just felt tired and like I was dragging. With the on/offs I just go by time. If I'm doing 20 repeats then I go for 40 min. 10 min warm-up (not by miles, I use minutes) then do on/offs for 40 minutes, then 10 min cool down or to the next full mile. I let the clock keep track of my repeats, I couldn't do it in my head!

From Bec on Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 11:21:12 from 68.206.133.141

I love it! I will do that workout either Monday or Tuesday and I will let you know how it goes.

I must be having a "lazy" day if I decide to that. WHATEVER!!!! Far from lazy young lady!
