Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

On the track again...just can't wait to get on the track again.

Oh my! I made the mistake of meeting up with the BBK's this morning. I knew that the track was on the docket, but I figured I would just run. We did about 1.5 warm-up then went to the track and started a speed workout.

100's sprint/recover for two laps, then 200's sprint/recover for two laps. My problem was my pride. I had to try and hit it. I couldn't let everyone else go without me, so I pushed. That first workout certainly wasn't my best, but it helped me warm-up the legs for the next one.

400M  at goal 1/2 marathon pace, then 1200M recovery at pace +40 seconds. My goals were: 7:40 1/2 pace and then 8:20 recovery pace. We did 3 sets of this one. I tried to watch the garmin and stay on pace, which is always hard for me, but it kept me a bit more honest. I figured that my AP for the miles should come out around 8:10's - and I was nearly right on the money! There were a few times on the paces I noticed I was too fast, but it was nice to be able to slow down a little. Problem is, I'm bad at 'feeling' a pace and keeping it consistent so the next time I'd look down it was too slow. Glad it all evened out :)

We then went out in the neighborhoods for a cool-down. The meanest trick was that the first part was uphill. I was spent! We got back to the cars at 6.6 miles, and I couldn't help it. I had to even out the miles. I would've stopped at 6.5! Oh well, so I went to the other end of the HS and back to round it all out.

AP: 8:41 splits: 9:27, 8:49, 8:10, 8:12, 8:12, 8:52, 9:05

Boot camp was cancelled this morning due to the lady that does it having to drive up to Youth Conference. So, I just came home and did Jillian's Shred level 2. It really is a nice good burst of strength and cardio. No gym today. Work, meetings, babysitting, housework, airport and getting to see family!!! At least the day will end well :)

Nice running there, Speedy.

What is the turnout like for the BBK's these days?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 11:46:02 from 76.25.72.82

8:20 is a recovery pace? Dang.

So are you going to the airport to pick up family who's coming in to town? Is it who I think it is?

From RAD on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 11:53:55 from 98.202.17.113

Cal, oh I was the last person to finish - that was doing the speed work, certainly didn't feel speedy to me! But, thanks it was hard work. I think there were maybe 10ish people there today. Not a huge crowd. Most of the regulars. No one I didn't know.

Carolyn, well, that was the workout recovery pace. I certainly wouldn't consider it recovery otherwise! I don't know where they got the workout from, but it was just supposed to be 40 seconds slower than your goal 1/2 pace. So, I was naturally the slowest on the track :) Oh, and yes!

I think you did a great job at speed work, especially since you just ran a marathon.

Merri, Thanks. The day was full of highs and lows, but it's bed time now!

Nancy, it was fun to see you this morning! Thanks for the encouragement - I needed it!!

Carina, Thanks - nice for me, recovery pace for you :)

Leandra, thanks. I wish it felt as easy as it would've a few months ago! Working back slowly.

RAD- you really worked out hard today! I read about how beneficial track workouts are, but I just can't bring myself to do them. Kudos to you!

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 18:13:21 from 67.2.109.45

I haven't run on the track since last summer. I'm afraid I'll get too sentimental running on the HS track and start to bawl thinking about my kids who used to go there!

NICE work and speed there! Enjoy your sister visiting!

From RAD on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 18:53:02 from 98.202.17.113

QP, it was a good workout, but BBK's never disappoint.

Smooth, I probably wouldn't go to the track quite yet if I were you either! :) I will certainly enjoy it, thanks!
