Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Pansy...I'm just a pansy. Was going to get up early and try an outside run - but it was too cold and I was too tired -at 10:30 PM when I set my alarm :)

Yoga - I really love yoga, our teacher does mostly stretching, not party tricks. Good class today!

TM - tired and ornery, hitting 4 was going to be a challenge so I took it easy

10 min walking 10% grade 3.0 mph (.5 miles)

Run 1 mile @ 10mm - then a much needed potty break

walk .1 mile @ 3 mph

Run 1 mile @ 9:50

walk .2 miles @ 3mph

Run 1 mile @ 9:31

walk .2 @ 3mph

Run last mile (#4) at 9:22  for the first 1/2 then bumped it down each tenth 9:13, 9:05, 8:57, 8:49, then 8:30. I don't know what the AP was...probably  9:10 or so.

Walk .5 to cool down

Taking it easy was well worth paying $2 extra for more time in the nursery, my head just wasn't in it today. Ankle is still swollen and tender, but little/no pain with walking or running. Yesterday my neighbor saw my ankle and said "you should wrap that up or something, it's pretty ugly" and my hubby thought I had a golf ball in there. It's definitely not pretty, but I'm glad the pain is minimized AND the swelling so far today :)

You are so not a pansy. Glad you're taking care of that ankle. Wrapping it probably isn't a bad idea especially if you can't take any Ibuprophen. Either that or ice and elevate it more often. You are way more a Sego Lily than a pansy....

From KP on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 15:48:37 from 65.208.22.25

You are in no way, shape, or form a pansy. You are pregnant! The fact that you are doing more than walking from the bed to the bathroom impresses me!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 16:05:24 from 24.8.167.243

Look how speedy you ran. You are not a pansy. You are one tough cookie.

From Calvin on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 16:09:11 from 66.133.117.3

It's always tough to do when your head isn't in it, so kudos for getting your workout done.

I hope you're icing that ankle.

I think you are doing way too much for being pregnant and having a sprained ankle. When I was pregnant I could just barely get around enough to take care of my house and kids. I didn't worry about exercising until I had the baby and then I went at it. You are tougher than most people that aren't pregnant!!

From RAD on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 17:39:56 from 67.172.229.125

Luz, I like Sego Lily much more :) I have been icing a bit more than normal because of the ibuprofen thing - I've also thought about calling the doc to ask if it'd be okay to take it. However, meh - it's been all right :)

KP, I swear I walk from the bed to the bathroom TOO many times at night already :)

Carolyn, it was the rest/walk between today that made the difference!

Cal, icing - check! I'm hoping I'll have a head change soon!

Nancy, the problem is this week the running is getting done...but the house, not so much :) I need a getting-housework-done-blog to keep up on it :)

How do you run on such an owie ankle???

Some days it is worth the $2 for sure!!! It is cheap babysitting for stress relief! Good job on that last mile!

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 19:51:21 from 174.23.198.220

WOW! Check out the pace you crank out and the incline, all on swollen owie ankle! You're a beautiful golden pansy! Pansies are so cheerful!

From Toby on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 21:18:48 from 216.194.124.36

You are one tough chick! Rest that ankle or your going to be haten' life :)

From RAD on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 23:31:59 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, it really hurt a lot more in Yoga than it did while running! It's the flexion and extension that gets me.

Smooth, the incline is ONLY on walking- I run at the standard 1% (I'm assuming that is standard anyway). I'm now singing "little purple pansies touched with yellow gold...growing in the corner of our garden old" :)

Toby, I've made the decision that since I have NO pain on impact that there is no fracture to be worried about. Whether that is right or wrong may be yet to be determined.... But, I'm pretty confident. I used to sprain my ankle every other week in HS (and yet continue to practice/play on it)- just feeling young again I guess :)
