Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Should've listened to the voice in my head telling me to just get my lazy butt out of bed and run outside this morning. Things would've been a lot better if I did. My poor 6 year old gets migraines and woke up with one this morning so I felt like I needed to take care of him before running, but I really wanted to go to the gym (to drop off the other 2 boys) so I could get some miles in and try out running in the compression sleeves. Got the boy some meds, an ice pack to put over his eyes (you couldn't talk to him, because he said that made him worse), and snuggled him up on the couch. When he was out cold (I think we got meds into him in time, because he usually is bad enough he throws up a few times or right after I give him meds and it all stayed down today!) and sleeping I left him on the monitor with my neighbor and ran off for a quick jaunt at the gym while he slept things off. If I would've run this morning I could've stayed home with the boy and not worried about the gym...ugghh I hate when I don't listen and regret it!

So, a quick 6 mile TM run @  8:57 AP. Started at 9:13 pace for the first mile, then 9:05 for the majority of the rest, but with about 1.5 miles left bumped things up a bit to just get finished.

Shins/calves are feeling better, compression sleeves seem to be working like a charm! They felt better after I ran and stretched than they have in a couple days, still do.

When I got home I woke up the boy and when I asked how he was feeling he said "good!" so, off to school he went. Now I'm just up for working and babysitting for the rest of the day....

Poor kid. Migraines are the worst. I can't even imagine a little kid having them. That is so sad.

So I ran on the tm today too. Though my muscles are still tight from last Sat. it is still a lot easier to run on the tm right now than it is to run outside...for now...until the blasted white winter death hits us. Then it's tm everyday until spring. Then when spring is here, it;s back outside to work that stamina and endurance back up. Such a yucky cycle I think. Blah!

Glad you got 6 in. Excited for SGM? I want to come watch all you cool runners. Maybe come run some of you in? :)

That is terrible your boy gets migraines. I have suffered with them for years and they are horrible. Do you know what causes them? I finally figured it out that for me it is when I don't eat every 4 hours I get them. I can't miss a meal. Now I rarely get them at all. No fun.

Glad the shins/calves are feeling better. You are looking good for SGM.

Lily, It breaks my heart when he gets them! I just have NO idea what to do for him. You don't run outside in the winter? It's actually really nice (with enough layers)! Ditch the TM for a few good outdoor runs this winter...you'll enjoy it! If you wanted to run me in (if you think you can run that slow) I would LOVE it!!! Having some fresh legs to push you along those last few miles is always a good thing.

Scott, I keep trying to find a pattern to them, but I can't. The only thing I find is that they are getting more frequent. First one was in Feb this year and he'd had 3 by July. This is now his 3rd since then. Only commonality is that they have always been in the morning. Usually a couple hours after waking up - this one was when he woke up though. He also usually throws up a few times before feeling better, this time we didn't get a barf - don't know if that is progress or not :) Wish I could figure it out for him! Thanks for the well-wishes for SGM. Just a few more good rest/recovery days and these calves should be good as new!

Sorry about your son.

Nice runs this week RAD. Looks like your Yasso's were pretty fast. I like the fact that you are taking this week to really rest it up.

I hope David feels better, no more migraines right! Poor lil' guy.

Enjoy your jaunt along the PR trail tomorrow. That should be beautiful! I love running there as the sun rises on cool and crisp mornings.

He's too little to have migraine, poor thing!

Glad the compression sleeves are helping!

Not fun for the little one. Good to hear that the sleeves are helping. Looking forward to running with you tomorrow. And check out the new sleeves.:)

Hmmm. I wonder if they could be triggered by something he has eaten the day before?? I know certain foods can bring them on for some people. Good luck with it. That is a tough one. It took me about 10 years to figure mine out. I finally figured it out on my mission because I was fasting so much. Every time I fasted I got a migraine. I feel bad for him.

I'm sorry about your sons migraines. My son got them when he was small too. I'm glad you shins are doing better and that you were at least able to run on the RM.
