Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Slept in after yesterdays short night! Got up and dealt with crazy children then finally got off to the  gym (I think they are on a perpetual sugar HIGH - candy needs to be chucked today!). Went to boot camp aka kick-boxing, and had a GREAT workout. We did .6 miles during class and so when I got on the TM afterward I thought I'll just round it down to .5 and do 4. However, I got to 4 and decided to do another .4 to make it an even 5. It was nice to have Kelli to chat with on the TM, made time go by SO much faster! I believe the AP for the run was around 9:15, did my commercial trick again - up the speed one notch each one, and stayed at an even 1% incline.

Nice job, Rachel. It's always nice to have someone to talk to.

Bring that candy on down here!

From RAD on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 15:01:58 from 76.27.12.70

Marion, my kids are nuts! The candy just makes it worse :)

Dale, TM is dreadful...with someone to talk to it's almost bearable.

Burt, send me your address and I'll pay the money to mail it to you!! My kids may use their sugar high to RUN after the package and get it all back, but hey! It'll give me a few days off :)

Good girl with the TM. I have some TM workouts that are kind of fun. Let me know if you want to learn them. Tread class has taught me well...

From RAD on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 15:43:42 from 76.27.12.70

honestly, I just like to zone out on the TM. If I had to keep track of how fast I was running or the distance it would make it too long and arduous for me! I cover up the display and just wait until the TM stops!

I think you're getting quite friendly with Millie.

Maybe you could give your Halloween candy to a food bank or something. I've heard about programs that you can give your candy to that send the candy to the troops. I don't know where you'd find information about it, though.

(Like I'm one to talk.)

NICE workouts!!! Since I was gone for Halloween, we have ZERO candies at my house! My poor sons felt so deprived, not! I'm really a wicked mother!

From RAD on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 16:21:25 from 76.27.12.70

Carolyn and Smooth, I think I found a solution to the candy problem! I'll give it to Smooth and she can give it to her son. Then everyone is happy and Smooth gets to be the hero!! :) Then my body can stop thinking it needs to fatten up for hibernation!

Excellent plan, Rachel!

My problem is that I've got two big bags that got left in my husbands car one day, so they're kind of melted and don't look good, so we didn't give them out, but they still taste fine. I don't feel like I can give them to anyone because they look bad.

As for the good candy that we've got, I'm just putting a little in my kids' lunches each day and I only had one child who went trick-or-treating and she has agreed to share her candy with her three brothers. I hope they eat it quickly.

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 18:40:07 from 71.219.97.106

Yes, indeed, it was nice to have someone to chat with. Once I hit 3 miles, I finally feel like I can keep going. if only I had more daycare time....

Chuck the candy, the kids will not notice (yeah, RIGHT!!!)

Great job Rachel. I'm glad you had Kelli to talk to on the TM. I hate TM running.
