Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Went early morning with the BBK's and did 6 miles and most of it hill repeats (funny, I accidentally typed 'hell' instead of 'hill' freudian slip I think :) ). I really want to improve my hill work, and it is not easy. I feel like a strong runner until everyone kicks my trash on the hills, I can't even catch them on recovery and they sound like they're breathing normally and I'm sucking wind! Someday, I just have to keep going, right? I must say I am better now than I was 8 months ago, so I know I can keep improving, especially with all the help I've got around me (BIG THANKS)!! I then went to the gym did 1 mile at 9 min to warm up then did  interval repeats of chest, back, legs (squats) biceps, triceps and abs. I then finished with 4 miles at an incline at 9-9:30 min miles. I'm trying to get my brain wrapped around doing Ogden full in May. I think it would be a great accomplishment and push for me. Always something new right? If I just sign up, then I have to do it because heavens knows I can't waste money (thats why I have to eat all the junk in the house and can't throw it away). Here is to a 40 mile week! JUST DO IT !!

Man, you are skinny! Your new capris looked great on you. Now I must keep you around to motivate me to eat better!!! No more PIZZA.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 15:31:19

Rachel,

Wow, hill workout then more workout at the gym??!!! You're a machine! OF COURSE you can do 40 mpw. Look! you already ran, what? half of that many already and it's only Tue. Keep up the good work. Next time you run hills, do this mantra: Hills are my friends. Hills are my friends. Oh and hills are NOT hell.LOL

The price goes up in a few days, so you should go ahead and sign up TODAY. Go for it. (You'll love it!)

Smooth - I will try to think of hills as my friend, as long as I get a nice recovery afterward and can see the top (all of my relationships are conditional).

Kelli- I'm going to get SLC 1/2 paid for then I will do Ogden next. I'm getting more and more sure of it everyday and I love the encouragement. Don't use me as motivation to eat better, because I eat like crap! I think thats why I'm so slow. My body doesn't know how to use good fuel only chocolate and icecream! Remember? My husband has to buy twice as much food when I eat out with them!

Eric- thanks for the encouragement! I need all I can get right now. Its all just a mental game, right?

From Rachel on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 15:44:53

oh, thanks Cal! I may have to recruit you for some extra runs this spring since you're so close and speedy!
