Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Woke up tired. After a nap yesterday and 10 hours last night, I thought I'd feel better - but I was still dragging!

Went to Boot camp, which was some kick-boxing and circuits. Tons of core today, it gets harder and harder each week. I'm honestly just happy I can still move and bend!

Decided I'd only do one mile on the TM; however, thanks to amazing Kelli I had someone to talk to and before I knew it I had done three and was feeling GREAT! I'd do the 4 I had planned on from the first of the week, even though it would put my day care time over.

3 miles @ 9:50 pace and 1@ 9:30 (did it mostly @ 9:40 then sped up the last .25 and ended running an 8:30...felt GREAT!! YAY!)

I was really happy that I felt good when I was finished. I was SO exhausted after yesterday, but feel amazing today. I now am ready to take on the BBK's again tomorrow morning AND it should be warm - hallelujah!!

AMEN!!! Warm weather...get here already :)

From KP on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 14:59:43 from 65.208.22.25

10 hours of sleep!?!?!

I think I got 3 last night.

I'll let you slide since you are 7 months pregnant. You should rest more, crazy lady!

From Bec on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:04:14 from 76.23.55.210

KP, RAD is one crazy lady!

Sounds like a very nice workout for today. Bring on the warm weather!!

From Brent on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:29:24 from 168.178.30.194

Devine Miss M - nice workout, are you still going to run the half? We are going to attempt to arrive early this year, not on the last Trax.

I have not given commando points for running 7 months pregant, your the first - 400 commando points for the 4 miles - tough lady.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From RAD on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:47:42 from 67.172.229.125

Kristi, I can't hope and yell loud enough!!!

KP, there were times I wondered how I could fit in 7. Now I usually fall asleep on the couch around 10 and then don't have to wake up until 8 to get kids ready for school. Just think about how horribly uncomfortable I am all night tossing and turning and not being able to hit that 'sweet spot' for good sleep. Turns my 10 hours into about 6 :)

Becca, we need to do an outside run on Saturday, it will be beautiful! I'd be willing to split mine up and do 6 before class and 6 after with you? Whad'ya say??

From RAD on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:49:35 from 67.172.229.125

Brent, thanks! I needed those commando points after how I felt yesterday!! Yes, I am still planning on the 1/2 - feeling great and ready to go! I think the t-shirt will say "If you think I'm having fun, I'm not...the fun part was 7 months ago!" :)

I also want to be early and not last wave like we were also last year!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:53:08 from 198.241.174.15

Oh Rachel, that t-shirt slogan is a kick in the pants! I dare you to go through with it.

You don't have to get up until 8 to get kids off to school? That's why you have babies while you are young and your older kids are still little and not when you're old and you have kids in high school and early-morning seminary.

Actually, 8 wouldn't quite cut it for me even without my older kids. My 2nd grader has to get to the bus at 8:20.

From RAD on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 15:57:44 from 67.172.229.125

Carolyn, When that slogan was suggested to me, I laughed SO hard! I now just need to find a shirt that fits and someone to put it on for me :) My kids are good sleepers like me. I usually have my hubby rouse the oldest at 7:30-7:45 when he leaves for work (they go to bed at 8PM and I have to WAKE them up at 8AM!), then I get the kindergartner up about 8. They can usually get dressed and ready in time to leave by 8:35 or 8:40 to get to school (around the corner) by 8:50 (1st bell). It's nice, since kids are bussed to our elementary they have a later start than some others AND it is literally around the corner. I've been VERY blessed to have children who are good sleepers (knock on wood!).

I LOVE THE SHIRT! Do it! Ha! That is GREAT! Great, great, great, great, great!

Here are the one's I thought of:

Hormones Running Wild

Running Out of Womb

Your idea is MUCH better.

From Calvin on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 16:20:33 from 66.133.117.3

That's pretty funny Rachel.

Good hard workout as always.

From RAD on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 16:27:29 from 67.172.229.125

KP, it took me a second (baby brain) but I LOVE running out of womb! I may just need a bigger t-shirt. I'll have a crowd of people around me just reading my shirt :) Too bad all the fast people will miss out on my good humor!

Cal, thanks! A race is always a good excuse to get a good t-shirt saying out in the world!

From Bec on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 17:12:55 from 76.23.55.210

RAD,

I am all for the split run. Sounds good!

From Smooth on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 17:23:30 from 174.23.201.210

I'm laughing SOOOO hard...all those T-shirts slogans are FUNNY!!! Too bad I won't be there to cheer you! Please take lotsa pix and post them! :)

Great recovery run today to get you ready for another BBK run tomorrow! You're doing AWESOME!

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 18:27:48 from 71.219.92.128

GREAT SHIRT IDEA!!!! You are so funny!

Nice job on your run today. You did not appear to be struggling. I was happy to WALK next to you and keep you company! Heaven knows, you have done it enough times for me!!!!

From Nancy on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 18:32:27 from 76.27.19.206

I look forward to seeing you are the BBK's tomorrow. I'll do my best to keep up with you.

From RAD on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 21:27:02 from 67.172.229.125

Becca, I'll call you Friday (or call me) and we'll work it out.

Smooth, oh there WILL be pictures :) Thanks, I'm just trying to keep moving!

Kelli, I never miss an opportunity for a good shirt at a race. Gotta make it memorable for everyone else too! Hey, Does your neighbor still do the vinyl printing on shirts? I have a project for them :)

Nancy, with all the hills by that church...I'm scared. I may have to take Duke from you so he can drag me up them!!

From Kelli on Thu, Apr 08, 2010 at 10:25:08 from 71.219.92.128

YES she does.

From RAD on Thu, Apr 08, 2010 at 10:31:25 from 67.172.229.125

YAY! I will chat with you about it in a bit at the gym :) Hopefully, you get final relaxation today since you don't have to run off with Mike!
