Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:


Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Woke up to the pitter patter of rain on the windows (well, okay I couldn't tell if it was raining, I actually had to go downstairs and stick my hand out the back door, but it was - a little bit), so I pulled a pansy and went back to bed and skipped BBK's this morning :) 

Hit the TM for some good miles! The first two I didn't realize until the very end were at 2.5% incline!! I usually (lately) have kept it at .5-1%. I thought I was going to die, and that I'd never finish 6 today - until I noticed that, then I felt pretty tough :) 

2.1 TM miles @ 9:40 (with the incline higher than MY normal).

Weights: all upper body (most on the bosu ball), squats, push-ups and obliques.

2.2 TM miles 9:30, 9:10, last .2 @ 8:40ish

Weights: same stuff

2.2 TM miles 9:22, 8:57, last .2 @ 8:10ish

Weights: same stuff, last set.

I was bound and determined to do under a 9mm that last set. It was nice to actually achieve it and not feel like I was going to die :) I felt my best during mile 4. Running is still my favorite part of the day!

okay, so i'm not really into weights or anything (i should be)... so how do you do weights on the bosu ball? that is interesting...

I use the ball as a core strengthener/stabilizer, so I kill 2 birds with one stone :) I flip it upside down and stand on the flat bottom (so you have to balance on the 'ball' side). Then you get a good core workout while you do the upper body stuff just 'standing' there. I will also do weighted squats on it that way too - helps strengthen my ITB issues as well. Hope that makes sense. I rarely use it the right way - standing on the ball part, but sometimes I will do one legged squats that way. Those are usually rather unsuccessful though, I have to put down my other foot!

I "play" on it the right way sometimes... I might try to do my tree yoga pose or something. I am NEVER successful. I'll have to try flipping it over. Novel idea, Rach!

I don't know how you can do so much exercise pregnant. If I tried to squat when I was pregnant I would be stuck in that position and wouldn't be able to get back up. Great job as usual.

Devine Miss M - No Doubt, without Gwen, I expect you will have a great fall running season. Do you have a fall marathon in mind? Grind, Grind and grind again, Do you have a pace foal for saturday?

Nancy, the squats definitely aren't THAT low :) more like an easy knee bend - anything that squishes my belly now a days is NOT fun!

Smooth, lol! I'm okay not 'practicing' that squat for another 10 weeks :)

Brent, I'm thinking maybe either SGM or Pocatello (have a friend up north that would make it a fun, no pressure race). I'd like to finish under 2 hrs, but I'm not going to pressure myself into it. I have to be willing to listen to my body and do what it tells me to - instead of the normal runner's crazed 'out of body' 'deal with the pain' pace. So, I'm just gonna go and do whatever feels comfortable for the mile - more over, have a good time! Just bought my shirt - purpleish bluish w/black l/s underarmor (this may go if the weather forecast right now is right), I'll also be wearing a black running skirt with black capris and pink KT tape on my R inner leg (from ankle to mid-shin, stupid TM has given me a bit of a shin splint issue, but the tape REALLY helps!). You know what the shirt will say...

Becca, You are running?!? If you have your cell phone call me - so I can at least see you at the start :)

Carolyn, It was good! My shins today aren't as happy as they were last week, because I've been on the TM too much - but other than that, it's GREAT! :)
