Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Was happy to get to the gym and NOT have to pay for the class! Dentist appointment made me miss 1/2 of class, but it was still a good step class. Then hit the TM for 6 more, definately feeling the lead legs from not doing much for 4 days! did 4 of the 6 at 8:30 (plus) mm and had to ramp down to 10 mm for a couple middle miles to get past my 'wall'. However, its nice to be back on treadmills that don't move underneath your feet (like on a rocking ship) and to have the wonderful company of Kelli back :) Made those first few until she left me, go really quick! See all you BBKers tomorrow morning then I'm excited to actually meet some bloggers I've chatted with or stalked (shh, don't tell) at the Riverton 1/2 on Saturday.

Met the BBK group for their Tuesday run this morning and boy did I forget what it was like to run with those speedy people!! We did 4 nice warm up miles - then the fun began. Taking 2 weeks easy sure helped with my speed today, but I pooped out on the last 2 miles of sprint/recovery. My left IT came back to haunt me and my energy was spent :(

After warm up Peggy had us run around a block that was probably around a .25 mile 4-sided. We would run 4 sides hard then recover 4 sides, run 3 sides hard recover 3 sides...etc 4-1 twice. I kept up at the front which was fun (everyone must've been pooped from Sat runs, because I never get to be at the front) and Peggy would wait up for me a few times on the recoveries to chat about my trip, she was doing great...I could hardly breathe, let alone talk! After that I thought we were done, so I was running a little extra to even out. Boy was I wrong! We ran about a quarter to another block about .5 around then did 1/2 the block sprint (up hill of course) then recover the other 1/2 - 4 times. This is where I pooped and regained my rightful position at the back of the pack. Oh well, I feel like I got a great workout in and it really re-invigorated me to keep training. I've kind of been a little off -mentally- lately with running, so I guess I needed a good break and then a good workout to show me I could still do it.

After getting home and getting all the kids off to school went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the bike and then resistance -while chatting with Kelli, so it took a little longer :) I definately felt like I got a good full body workout today and am now ready for my nap.

My AP for the 11 this morning was 8:31 - I had 3 splits under 8 (7:37 was the best full mile) and my best momentary pace was 5:32. Not too shabby for just getting back into it, huh? Okay, I'll admit it, thats good for me on a good day :)

I totally forgot how hard Heidi's kickboxing class is! Especially after a day of weight training. I forced myself to run afterward...only 3, but I did a downhill (-2%) run at 8:20 mm. I'm saddend by the snow...I was really looking forward to some bike rides and jogging stroller runs once I got home from the cruise, but I'm back to fighting the ice and snow :(  - At least I've got great friends to chat with as we slip and sludge around in it! Soon it will be too hot to run even before the sun comes up, so I'm trying to just be grateful for the cool weather and moisture.

Great run this morning with BBK's! It started out with sideways ice pelting my face...I decided that if it didn't stop as soon as my car was in view I was sprinting to it, getting in and going home to bed! However, with Kimberly's good company and the running gods wanting me to stay, the weather cleared up. Thankfully, it never got that bad again... it started a little for a couple minutes a few times, but nothing that even made me THINK about stopping. We didn't do any 'training' program today, we just did a long slow run and it was just what I needed this morning. My AP was 9:20 or something, but it felt great! Gave me a ton of confidence that I can finish this Saturday (I've been doubting my running endurance since I've been home). Afterward, I went to Yoga and although it was freezing in the gym, I had a great stretch/yoga time and am ready to face the snow! The sun all morning/afternoon is really helping as well, with the blinds shut I just pretend the snow never happened :)

I woke up feeling like a truck ran over me! YUCK, I'm going to the doctor this morning to see if he can perform a miracle to help me run tomorrow. I'm so sad about the way I feel. I'll give an update later.

Okay, the sleep time is overrated, but I feel like I slept all day yesterday and last night! I woke up still feeling feverish and achy. I don't want the strep to turn into Rheumatic fever and risk damaging my heart for one silly race, so I called it off - and it broke my heart! So, I decided I needed to go cheer everyone on at the finish. I wasn't even racing and I still couldn't get to the finish before Walter, but I saw everyone else finish :) It was great to meet and hang with so many of you today and seeing all your running highs and great times I REALLY was sad I didn't run, but I know that I wouldn't have made it. When I hit my 'off'' from the Motrin I could hardly stand up straight and focus my eyes and just wanted to lay down and sleep!! So, I'm sure the race wouldn't have been pretty! Congrats to everyone who ran today you all did a great job and I'm excited to run a race with all of you again...sounds like most of us are planning on Ogden (1/2 or full) so I'll have to look forward to RUNNING with you all then!
