Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Did an easy 6 around the 'hood early this morning, and got Lucy out as well. Felt really good, and when I looked at the AP I was at 8:32 - it surprised me that is was that fast, I felt like it was slower than that because I was just getting a few good ones in.

Then I hit the step class this morning and had another great workout, I LOVE that class.

Got home and worked outside in the yard all afternoon, it was a beautiful day!!! I'm so glad I got the stuff done in the yard that I've wanted to get done for over a month now, but everytime I go out to do it its TOO COLD!! Got some new stuff planted and hopefully put an end to Lucy's digging holes ~ we'll see in a couple weeks :)

Barely made the 5:45 group this morning. I was pulling up as they took off...I didn't want to get up this morning. Tapers are SO hard for me! I feel like I should be doing more, but know that I can't - UGGGHHH! I went to the gym this morning and didn't know why I was there after I had run 6 miles. My legs are a little achy (just from normal stuff) and my arms and upper body are achy from raking mulch back into the flowerbeds yesterday - I've got 3 nice blisters on my hands, I'm SOOOO glad I don't run on my hands!!! So I did a little weights and rode the recumbant bike so I could flip through a magazine. Hmmmm, I talked to my neighbor probably more than I worked out :)

This morning's run was hard, I thought we were going fast - NOPE! My AP was 8:48, slower than yesterday and I thought I was going to die today. Why does that happen?? Why one day can I run fast and feel like its slow, then the next day run slower and feel like I'm dying?!? I don't get it, It couldn't have anything to do with the 10 pounds of Easter candy I've eaten the last 3 days could it??

Woke up to rain this morning...went back to bed. Slept until I had to get up to go to another all day training for work. I was going to work out, but the rain and my excuse of "I'm tapering!" helped me go back to bed and sleep for another 2 hours :)

I'm really trying to push through my head that I want to 'race' SLC. Even at Myrtle Beach, I felt like I could've given more, pushed harder...I didn't leave it all out there. I want to try to reach my wildest dream - give it all, don't hold anything back! However, I always make excuses while I'm running and then just run for fun...hmmm, any suggestions? Not that I don't want to have fun, but I do want to push myself. How do you get your brain to do that for you and not give up at the first sign of distress or 'heavy breathing'?

Got up early to meet the non-Boston BBK's this morning, good easy run - AP 8:52. Still stressing about SL, but I think I just need to do my best - whatever that may be - and NOT stress about my mental state (I have enough other stress in my life!!!)

Off now to Yoga, then a fun filled morning/afternoon at the packet-pick up expo and the Children's museum at Gateway.

Good luck all you Bostonians!!! I hope the weather holds out, just overcast - NO RAIN!!

So, I did it!! Yea, another month, another PR :) okay, okay, I know this knocking off huge amounts can't last forever, but it really amazes me that just one year ago I ran this race in 2:09! I had a lot to prove to myself and I felt really good about my effort...now if I can just get my stinky ITbands to cooperate with me, I could maintain my speed through the last few miles NOT having to stop and stretch and making every stride painful. DANG!! Does anyone know what to say to a doctor to get him to do surgery so you don't have to deal with them anymore?!? I'm sick of them! Its been 18 months of dealing with them on and off, I thought losing 40 pounds would help, but nope...still fighting them 3 pounds away from goal weight :(

I don't remember what my overall placings were, but I can't imagine them being too bad - better than last year anyway :) My AP was 7:40, my best was 4:36 (holy moly!) and I had a total distance on the Garmin of 13.17 - didn't use my tangets well :) Here is a breakdown of the splits:

1- 7:14 (even with not realizing we were at the start mat and then having to walk for 50 yards before there was room enough to run!!)

2-7:06 (keeping up with Kelli)

3- 7:03 (still keeping up with Kelli)

4- 7:05 (Kelli's out of sight, because I stoped to 'swallow' water and she didn't)

5- 7:35 (no more Kelli to keep up with, I guess I just slowed down...)

6- 7:40 (staying steady even without Kelli - yea, I can do it myself! :) )

7- 7:23 (gu'd at mile 7 with h2o - I should've grabbed 2 cups, I had sticky all over in my mouth until the next water!)

8-7:50 (no idea why I'm slowing....)

9- 7:30 (this seemed like the longest mile... 10 NEVER came!!! but time was good.)

10- 7:59 (okay, this is where I'm having to stop to stretch those stinky IT bands!)

11- 8:02 (I round the corner from Liberty park onto state street and the line of runners doesn't seem to be turning at the courthouse like last year...it doesn't REALLY go all the way up that stinky hill ahead, does it?!? - obvious issues with IT and mental capacity!)

12- 8:49 (yup! It went ALL the way up the hill...the anticipation of the hill and the ITB's were KILLING me!! Trying to stay mentally strong and push out all I had!)

13- 8:20 (able to pick it up a little downhill - stopped in front of the temple to stretch IT's and the sister missionaries wished me luck. That was the reason I was so fast!!)

14- 8:11 (tried to pick it up to the finish and not let 'heavy breather' pass me - seriously, you could hear him when he was 50 feet behind me!! He did out sprint me to the finish...but only by 5 feet or so. My knees were spent, my heart and brain could've pushed, but my ITB's wouldn't move for loving or money! However, last year the run down Gateway was pure misery...this year I actaully enjoyed it AND it was 1/2 as long :)  )

So, there it is...in a nut shell (okay not really). I had a great race and besides nursing those STINKY ITB's feel GREAT!!! I actually got to meet some 'fun' people who run under 8 mm - I've found most people that fast are too serious to have fun and laugh/talk in a race!

28/557 for age group (wow, a ton in my age group!!)

307/4125 out of ALL runners

71/2544 women runners (hehe, top 100!!)
