Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

blah blah blah run today! Yesterday I felt so good, was feeling good in my stride and today was more of a shuffle run the whole time. I might run tomorrow, but no matter WHAT I do, I will be sleeping in!!!

'New' 7 mile loop, out past the new rec center and home...so my favorite hill of death is 1.5 miles of my run, at the end! I do feel good to have it done, and that was the only thing that got me out this morning "you know you'll feel good when it's done!" Shuffle or not, I'm glad I did it...and can still do it!

AP: 9:47 splits: 9:17, 9:07, 9:23, 9:58 (flat and a bit up hill), 10:10 (start of the hill), 10:37 (this FULL mile is the constant uphill!), 9:58 (finish the uphill and flat home).

Now I'm off to yoga and bike/reading time...oh, and as a side note I SWEAR my belly grew 3 sizes overnight! I feel HUGE this morning!!

*8 miles on the bike in 40 minutes - nice and slow on L1. New book started...still not sure how much I'm going to like it*

I can't believe you run and then go work out at the gym. You are hard core.

You're supposed to have a big belly right now, you know.

i saw you cruising along down past the rec center. nice running.

your huge belly shuffle pace is pretty fast for a shuffle...

enjoy your day!

Carolyn, today was my easy day. Yoga is really just an hour of stretching then I sit on the bike and read...my legs are moving simply to justify the day care time :)

Cal, you liked that nice slow shuffle huh? :) It was along that stretch I was thinking about how yesterday I felt like I had a nice stride with good kickback, but today I was in 'shuffle' mode...no kickback and barely lifting the feet above the loose gravel :)

QP, I think I'm going to call this a 'recovery' run :) Yesterday can be my 'tempo'...tomorrow well I guess that will be a sleep day!

how many weeks pregnant are you? serious 7 miles and due in June is very impressive. Like I think I couldn't walk. My 5K time at 34 weeks with my first was 59 minutes!!! I did stop and knock on someone's door to use their potty however. But still!!! 7 and under 10 AP, WOW!!! Go MOM!!!!

From RAD on Thu, May 20, 2010 at 16:13:52 from 67.172.229.125

Julie, I'm 35 weeks along - but stars aligning, my doc will induce me a month from Saturday. Luckily, I'm tall and don't get a 'huge' belly. Many people in my neighborhood are still surprised to find out I'm expecting, guess they thought I was just getting fat and lazy :) I'm hoping to run one more 1/2 on Memorial day (I did Ogden and SLC) - but I'll probably have to put running on the back burner (maybe down to 15-20 miles/week) after that. Always at the mercy of what the doc says...

did your belly drop? baby fartlek coming early? nice miles this week, little lady! i'm very impressed!

You are crazy for doing another 1/2 on memorial day but I think being known as crazy can be a little motivating. I know what you mean about growing overnight, that seems to happen! I am glad you got your run in and some good reading time.

From Nancy on Thu, May 20, 2010 at 22:09:30 from 76.27.19.206

I think if you are tired you should rest. I'm still amazed at how far and fast you can run at 8 months pregnant. Running that fast and far is just a distant memory to me. But I'm still glad I can run even if I'm slow.

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, May 21, 2010 at 12:47:37 from 66.239.250.209

Nice workout and an impressive week considering your pregnancy stage and the fact that you just ran a half. Amazing!

From RAD on Fri, May 21, 2010 at 14:51:51 from 67.172.229.125

KP, no drop just bigger!

Michelle, I'm still not 100% on the 1/2 on memorial day - it sounds fun, but it will be tough. Not one of these easy downhillers! So, I'm waiting until Wednesday to decide.

Nancy, you still run that far at least 2X a week! And I've seen you finish a 1/2 strong and in good time too! I don't think you give yourself enough credit for all you do!

Scott, thanks! I was SO tired yesterday I think I may dial down the miles from 30-35/week to 20-25 for the next month. Only problem is I've always got SGM preparation in the back of my head!
