Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Okay...I'm just tired...plain 'ol tired!

Cold and pregnancy is kicking my trash. I WANT to run, but go to do it and think it would be a lot easier to do something else.

Went to boot camp/kickboxing this morning, but since Heidi had her baby the other teacher is just a bit different and doesn't push it quite as much :(

Did 30 minutes of TM walking @10% grade on 3MPH while talking to Kelli (was going to run, but changed my mind). Had a good time reviewing the Biggest Loser finale! Kelli really is a rock-star, she does SO much and never whines about it and just gets it done (AND well!).

10 minutes left in daycare (thanks to my 5yr old forgetting his backpack I was late to class), so I did my .2 mile loop 5X out & back in the alley. Just a normal 'ol pokey pace.

Okay...so here is my 'plea' I really WANT to do the State Capitol Half-Marathon on Memorial Day!! However, it is a moderately difficult course (hills and trails), so I don't think I will run it all, but I WANT to do it!! My desire to do this 'race' is SO overwhelming it's unreal! I'm putting this out there to see if there is anyone who would be willing to tag along with me. No racing - I may run the whole way, I may walk - I'll probably finish around 2:10+ depending on how I feel. I just want a friend to go with me *sniff, sniff* Yes...this is an outright beg to see if anyone would be willing to tag along with the fat, slow pregnant lady that may walk a bit. Any takers?

i'll do it! me me me! oh wait... we live on opposite sides of the country. rats.

i know you will do awesome at the race. don't put pressure on yourself. just go and have fun. remember, walking is okay!

From RAD on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 14:20:53 from 67.172.229.125

KP, I would but I just don't want to go alone :( Yeah...I'm a pansy, but I just want someone to go with me and have a fun time more than actually run I think. Maybe it's just the only way I can talk myself out of doing it - I'm not sure!

You are the most energetic fat (not), slow (not) pregnant lady I know.

Don't do it (the race, that is).

From DonGardinero on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 14:39:13 from 75.162.160.233

Rachel...I would do it with you, but I don't dare this close to UVM. Know what I'm sayin'?

From RAD on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 16:13:49 from 67.172.229.125

Carolyn, I'm thinking maybe it's my rational self trying to get through to me (to NOT do it, that is)

Dale, yes! I think holding out for UVM is a VERY good idea!

From LuzyLew on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 16:37:38 from 208.187.197.42

I don't know a single person even running this race. It could be a nice walk/run. I hope you get in, although I really hope your cold gets better. Mine is dragging on and on. I took about 5 days off so my immune system could get a leg up. I was getting pretty run down. Also--thanks for the advice on Utah Valley. I'm still freaking out about skipping that long run, but I'll try to get in as much as I can handle on Saturday. I know it's too close to UVM--but I think it's better than not doing it at all. I really hope UVM is not misery! Take good care of yourself and get some rest so that cold will go away.

From RAD on Wed, May 26, 2010 at 17:22:14 from 67.172.229.125

Luz, I'm thinking the same thing about the cold - I just feel like such a slug sitting around doing nothing! UVM will be good - you've got the training, just relax and take 'er easy!

From Michelle on Thu, May 27, 2010 at 09:54:47 from 97.118.36.161

Don't do it. Take a break and have a BBQ instead, or go to the zoo, or a park, or work in your yard, or a family hike. Lots of things to do besides a half especially at 36(?) weeks pregnant. I hope your cold get feeling better!

You have so much spunk!!! :)

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, May 27, 2010 at 12:03:48 from 24.199.205.252

I like your excitement and desire to sun the race, but if you're already a little down from a cold, I don't think it's a good idea either.

Let your body fully recover and get strong & healthy for fartlek. He likes BBQ's and ice cream...he told me so. And don't forget the cheetos for houdini.

From KP on Thu, May 27, 2010 at 12:15:13 from 65.208.22.26

as the only non-mother here (besides Don... i feel he has kids though), i say go for it! are y'all all going to throw rocks at me now? you don't have to "race" it. just go and have fun. do a run/walk. take it easy. enjoy being outside on a beautiful weekend. and then, bbq after!

okay, everyone else, when i am having babies (about 37 years from now) remind me that i told rachel this. i'm sure i'll quit exercising on day #1 of the pregnancy.

From Kelli on Thu, May 27, 2010 at 19:20:28 from 71.219.93.114

KP, I actually agree. Rachel is a rock star and she should go do it and just pay attention to her body while she is there---remembering it is just for fun. And i have like 19 kids and I am agreeing with the non-mother!

Now, Rachel. you crack me up! All I do is whine and complain on the treadmill! I was just so happy to see your face for the last little bit, i was going nuts and it felt so hard, then you came out and it all became "fun" and easy! THANKS!!!! Oh, and you were totally right about Koli, he would have taken it all. Scott said i even mentioned it when he weighed in, I am so tired I am not thinking straight apparently!! Glad America did not vote for him, I would have been sad had he taken it all.
