Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Slept the weekend away...well, Sunday anyway! Nap after nap and doing nothing - too bad I ate like crazy! I was thinking I should change my blog title to "I'm not hungry...I'm just bored" :)

Went to step class this morning and it was a good one! At one point I looked down at my bench and there were like 4 or 5 sweat drops all over :) It certainly kept me moving!

I wanted to run a bit; however, I wanted to read and stay OFF the TM as well (shins are acting up again - dang tight calves!). So, I went to the alley behind the gym and did our .2 loop 5X with a neighbor to get a mile in. Easy pace, I'd say under a 10mm, but not a 9mm.

Then I did the elliptical for 20 min while I read my book - it's due Wednesday, I've GOT to get it read! I think it was 1 mile @ L6.

Then I grabbed Nathan from daycare and ran the alley loop a few more times to get 2 miles in. He had fun playing on the grass and watering the trees with my water bottle :) Again, a good 9:30mm or so pace - no garmin, just miles.

I feel good after Ogden - yesterday I didn't, I was tired and so was my body! Today though I feel good. I even came home and hit the yard work. Tomatoes & peppers planted (again), weeds all pulled/killed, planters out front planted and some plants my mom brought me from her yard planted as well. Now to tackle the INSIDE house work....

would you PLEASE slow down some?!?! you are going to be running another half the week after you deliver Baby Fartlek if you keep this up!

From RAD on Mon, May 17, 2010 at 17:05:59 from 67.172.229.125

KP, you make me laugh! If you saw me outside of my 'workout' mode you would know how much I sit around and do NOTHING! Just ask my husband :)

Good for you, an enjoyable 3 miles. Don't worry about the eating now! You are in fact, eating for 2--and running for 2. Gardening always drains the last bit of energy from me--no matter how therapeutic and purposeful it is. It's tiring. That race shirt still cracks me up. I hope you rest up before your 'Labor Day' race, oh I meant Memorial Day :)

From RAD on Mon, May 17, 2010 at 17:43:55 from 67.172.229.125

Luz, AMEN on the tiring part! Only thing is that now I want to go buy more plants to make the yard look pretty, but I have no energy to do so! :) Oh, and you crack me up! I'm still not 100% sure on the Memorial Day race, I'd like to, but I have my 1st 'check' apt with doc about 5 days before and depending on my body I may get banished from running :( so...I may HAVE to wait until the 'Labor Day' race :)

Just reading about all your exercise and yard work makes me tired. If you have this much energy at 8 months pregnant just wait until after you have the baby. If you can get some sleep you'll be ready to do anything you want.

I think weekends are for sleeping and eating, especially Sundays.

I wonder if I would have more energy to do housework if I didn't run, but I doubt it.

glad you've recovered from your super saturday speedy run

Hey RAD, have you ever tried rolling out your calves with "The Stick". I've used one for years on tired tight leg muscles and it seems to help!

From Michelle on Tue, May 18, 2010 at 11:56:33 from 97.118.34.35

You still got a great workout in even with feeling tired. Good job on step class, running, and yard work. Sounds like a good day.

KP - She's naming the baby Burt, not Fartlek.

From DonGardinero on Tue, May 18, 2010 at 14:44:00 from 75.162.187.177

Nice job, Rachel...4 or 5 drops of sweat, huh? Geez, what's my problem? When I work out I have a pool of sweat. I sweat like there's no tomorrow, even on light workouts. LOL

From RAD on Tue, May 18, 2010 at 15:04:55 from 67.172.229.125

Nancy, if you could get 9 hours of sleep a night you wouldn't be so tired :) Most of the time it's not energy, but final break down from putting it off for so long!

Carolyn, my problem is I think that, but then it carries into EVERY day, not just the weekends!

QP- thanks :) I hope you're having a good birthday!

Slick, I have a foam roller I've been using at night when I watch TV. I've never had such tight calves before, from what I understand it's a pregnancy thing - so I'll endure with the rest of it for a few more weeks.

Michelle, it was a good day! Finally warm!

Burt, hmmm....not a bad idea...

Dale, that was just what had happened to land on the bench. My pony tail was soaked through when I got home to shower!
